If I wanted to use the store functionality can i connect my site to a shopping cart somehow? Or can I connect with woocommerce?

Since it is just an HTML template it does not have a working back end for a shopping cart by default nor it is compatible with woocommerce you would have to manage your own shopping card or you could always link to another shopping Cart you use.

For the second question. You mean like this : http://awesomescreenshot.com/0662k6gee5 ? If yes, it is possible, you should add title=”TITLE HERE” and add image alt=”TITLE HERE” that’s it.
