Great work. The upgrade unrecoverable destroyed my website. Every page is broken – not displaying properly, images overflowing their frames, formatting shot to hell.
Having to restore from an old backup copy.
Thanks for 15+ hours of wasted time and effort.
Yes, I turned off all plugins. Could have just been one of those random things. Just frustrating when no function seems to do as it should.
Great Job on the new template.
The update work fine for me.
@ philipov …. Did you turn off all the plugins from third partners.
Awesome news rtec! Thanks for letting us know all things went smooth for you!
Cheers my friend
I seriously need to update my theme and wordpress. As a newbie please I need advice which order to update WP v.3.5.2 to v.3.8, Karma to v.4.0 and Karma child v0.1.1
I tried updating to WP v.3.8 automaticly but get PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) errror.
Now I am stuck. Do I need to update WP before the themes?
Upgrading to latest version of Wordpress is not a requirement however we recommend always keeping Wordpress up-to-date. This will enable you to take full advantage of all Wordpress bug fixes, security fixes, etc.
We’ve done a Google search for the Wordpress error message and it appears it is related to insufficient free space on the web server. Perhaps you can reach out to your hosting provider to find out how much free space is available on the server? They may also be able to upgrade Wordpress to the latest version for you. (you can also discover more details about the error by Google-ing “upgrading wordpress PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10)” )
Once Wordpress is updated you can then go ahead and install the latest Karma update.
Here are instructions for updating your Karma Wordpress theme just in case you need them: https://support.truethemes.net/?faq=how-to-upgrade-a-wordpress-theme-to-the-latest-version
We hope these details are helpful my friend. Please let us know if there’s anything else we can do to help.
First of all Congratulations on the subject.
I want to buy this issue because it suits my needs for my website. But I have several questions.
1. I would like to know more about Total Control With layer, Create custom Animations transition whith our brand new builder. What would this be?
2. At the top, where we put the logo, I can add a background image that I choose and remove the color and logo.
thank you very much
Thanks so much for your interest in the Karma theme my friend.
As per your questions:
1. This is referring to the included (and free) Revolution Slider. One can create sliders and have full control over each individual layer, custom animations, etc.
2. Is it possible for you to provide a screenshot of the end result you’re after? We’re slightly confused about the exact requirements of the design?
Thanks so much my friend
When you refer to custom animation, you can add the slider a video file in mpg format, wm, QTIME, etc? or animated video is a psd layered file with timeline animation, or a link to vimeo for example.
You can in the “Color esqueme” change color a picture.
Thank you very much for the help
The Revolution Slider can accept self-hosted video played via an HTML5 video player as well as YouTube/Vimeo video.
The Revolution Slider can also be used to created “layered sliders” as per outlined on the live demo site. For full details on all that is possible in Revolution Slider please kindly check out: http://themes.themepunch.com/?theme=revolution_wp
As per Karma’s Color Scheme there are currently a variety of in-built options:
- Choose from 30 pre-set color schemes. A single mouse click changes the entire color scheme.
- Create a Custom Color Scheme using point-and-click color-picker tools. This option allows fine-grain control of the color scheme.
- Choose from 7 “overlay patterns” which are transparent patterns that overlay the color scheme area. You can also very easily upload a custom overlay graphic via Karma’s Site Options Panel.
In terms of completely replacing the Color Scheme with a solid graphic, this is not built into the theme’s functions however can be achieved very easily with a line of CSS Code. Simply add a line of code similar to the following code directly into Karma’s Site Options Panel:
background: url(http://www.yourwebsite.com/your-custom-image.jpg) !important;
Hope these details are helpful my friend. Please respond back if there is anything else we can be of assistance with.
Thanks so much
I have not updated to the latest version as it caused all sorts of problems but -
How do i change the text font within the jquery 2 slider and also i want to add a video to my slider but when i add it the sldier goes mad and the video is the size of the screen?
We’re very happy to look closer at your website and provide a solution. We’ll just need to gather more details about the site, theme version, etc so we can provide the best solution.

My contact forms have a thin line box around them now. How do I remove that? thank you
Nice Template. I’m interested and if you consider adding RTL support.
2. CU3ER Slider License is it included in Template package? Or i have purchase License for my domain?
Thanks so much for your Karma interest my friend.
1. We’ve not done a ton of planning around RTL however we are definitely considering adding it on a future release. We’re unable to provide an ETA on this update but our plan for Karma is smaller more frequent updates for the life of the theme.
2. Yes CU3ER license is included free of charge with the theme. We’ve purchased a “template license” which gives you the same functionality as a CU3ER Pro License. The only purchase you’ll ever need to make is if you wish to remove the CU3ER Logo from the slider. This will require purchasing the normal “Pro License”. All Karma customers get a special $10 discount if wanting to remove the logo.
We hope this information is helpful for you. Please feel free to contact us if there’s anything else at all we can do to assist.
Two questions. Is it possible to reduce the width of the boxed layout because I can only see the background image 1/2” either side. Also how can I move the left handed logo a little closer to the left edge?
We’re very happy to provide details on both customizations.
Please note that making the boxed layout much narrow-er could cause other layout issues on mobile devices, etc so we highly recommend against adjusting this value.
Please kindly submit a ticket on our secure HelpDesk so that we can gladly gather more details and assist in customizing the position of your logo.

Yes, I filled out two ticket earlier TY
First want to start off by saying AMAZING theme guys! Love the Karma 4.0 update and the generous plugins that have been included. That being said, I have run into an issue with my child theme not showing correctly. Parent theme shows perfectly, then activate child theme and all *&$^ hits the fan. What was odd is it even shows correctly in Appearance/Customize. I went through as many related posts as I could and cleared out cache etc. but nothing worked. Finally went and deactivated all plugins and activated one at a time. Finally found the culprit. It is the Better WordPress Minify plugin causing everything to look jumbled and crazy. Am I doing something wrong by just activating it and assuming it will work or are there settings I am missing?
Thanks so much for the kind words my friend. We’re so glad you’re enjoying the new features.
Better Wordpress Minify (BWM) works seamlessly with the theme as well as it’s included plugins. We’ve tested under parent theme and child theme conditions and all went smoothly without a hitch.
There could however be other 3rd-party plugins which are not playing nicely nicely with BWM. This is unfortauntely something out of our control and up to plugin authors to properly build their plugins.
The rendering issue could also possibly be related to a page caching issue? (ie. the old version of Karma was been cached within Better Wordpress Minify and this is causing the layout issue?)
If you would like, we are happy to take a closer look at everything and try to pinpoint the specific plugin causing the issue?
Please kindly submit a ticket on our secure HelpDesk so that we can gather some more details and help you get things sorted.
I installed the newest version and I think it’s great! Only I have now an additional menu under my header and I don’t know how to remove it…
We’re so glad to hear the upgrade has been a smooth transition for you.
Hiding the sub-navigation can be done by editing the page in question and selecting the “Disable sub-menu” option on the page-editing screen.
Here’s a screenshot of this option: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7008416/_helpdesk/karma4-disable-submenu.png
We hope this is helpful for you my friend. If there’s anything else at all we can do to help Please kindly submit a ticket on our secure HelpDesk so that our dedicated support team can gladly provide additional assistance.
Karma 4.x broke my site. I need older version of Karma (presumably 3.0.3) theme files immediately!!!! Could you please tell me where I can get it?
My website: www.stubberudlaw.com
Sure thing my friend.
It looks like you’ve perhaps already reverted back to the older version?
If still in need of the older theme files, a backup is created by Karma anytime a new version is installed. This backup version is located as a ZIP file within the wp-content/uploads folder.
We’re very happy to assist you in any way that you need. Please kindly reach out to us via our HelpDesk letting us know anything at all you need assistance with and we’ll gladly help out.
Yes, I was able to revert back. I really love the theme. I will be back to purchase this theme for our future clients.
Awesome stuff! Thanks so much for your support – we love serving you!!
Hello, I am looking to buy this theme but I would first like to know this:
When I buy it , download it and install it as my wordpress site do I get it exactly as it is in the demo? I mean when I install the theme and open site do I see the demo that You are showing here or do I need to build around it to get to demo level? How easy is it to edit? Do You have youtube explanatory videos for various support issues? Thanks!
Thank you so much for your interest in Karma.
When installing the theme, we have provided a custom-built plugin which requires only a single mouse click to install demo content, create menus, assign menus to proper location etc. After the plugin has run you will have a fully functional website shell for very quick website creation.
The content that gets created includes everything from the live demo site minus the “features” and “design” sections as these are simply full-width page templates.
Karma comes with a full series of high definition training videos. This library will continue to expand over the life of the Karma theme. Please feel free to check out the videos here: http://vimeopro.com/truethemes/karma-4/
We hope this information is helpful my friend. Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.
Thanks for Your prompt reply!
I have just few more questions:
- Can I use WPML plugin?
- Can the contact form be more complex so that it includes booking options or just more information fields? Can some booking plugin be used?
-Is there a way to display a chatbox in the lower right corner of the site or sidebox? Can it use zopim chatbox?
That’s it. Thanks again!
You’re very welcome my friend.
As per your additional questions:
1. Yes WPML can be used nicely. Karma has been thoroughly tested by the WPML team and has been approved as being 100% WPML certified: http://wpml.org/developer/truethemes/
2. Yes the contact form can contain a variety of different field types: text, textarea, radio buttons and dropdown lists. Each form can have an unlimited amount of fields. You might also be interested in the GravityForms plugin for very advanced form creation.
Please feel free to contact us with any further questions.
How can one copy a template, rename and modify it?
Would like to remove on some template “strip out the utility bar/search box”
Karma 4.0 looks great!
We’re very happy to provide some guidance but we’ll just need to gather a bit more details so that we can better serve you.
Can you kindly post a link to one of the pages on the demo site and outline some more details about what you’d like to achieve?
Here are a few notes that might also help to answer your question:
- Each page template has the option to hide one or all of the following: utility bar, search box, breadcrumbs. These are toggled via simple checkbox.
- Karma 4.0 also comes with a “Blank Canvas” page template which already excludes the entire utility bar and provides you with a completely full-width blank canvas for easy creation of endless custom page layouts.
I see option Utility Box if checked disable this page’s Utility Panel (breadcrumbs, search bar, etc)
Under it Searchbar Yes No, if above Utility Box Checked, it does not matter what this setting.
1) Did you say I can individually disable as I can with Searchbar?
2) How does one allow Searchbar, but disables breadcrumbs?
3) Utility Box (breadcrumbs, search bar, etc), what is covered under ETC?
This is section I wanted to get to disable some of the displayed.
The Utility Bar can be modified in a variety of ways:
- Hide the entire utility bar
- Hide just the breadcrumbs
- Hide just the search box
- Add a custom ‘Title’ for that page.
Simply choose “Yes” or “No” next to the option that you’d like to toggle.
For example: “Would you like to display a searchbar on this page”.....”Yes / No”.
We hope this information is helpful.

Hi. I installed Karma 4.0 and ran the auto demo content generator. Unfortunately, it’s generating demo content for the 3.x version. I would like to be able to load the 4.0 content. Could you help?
There are a lot things (e.g. demo slides, icon widgets, etc.) that I would like to use from the 4.0 version.
The Demo Content Generator Plugin is new to Karma 4.0 so will only add content relevant to Karma 4.0
If there is a particular chunk of content that you’d like us to send over please kindly submit a ticket on our HelpDesk and we’ll gladly provide that content.
Full instructions for using the Demo Content generator Plugin as well as all of Karma 4.0’s functionality can be found in the Karma 4.0 Training Video Series: http://vimeopro.com/truethemes/karma-4/
I would like to get my hands on the shortcodes and images to generate the social media box/icons in the “Let’s Social” section: http://themes.truethemes.net/Karma-4.0/. Please and thank you.
Oh and the shortcodes for the icons in these pages: http://themes.truethemes.net/Karma-4.0/features/ and http://themes.truethemes.net/Karma-4.0/design/.
Please kindly submit a Ticket on our HelpDesk so that we can gladly send over this content.
We’ll provide exact copies of the page content so you can simply copy/paste.
Please note that all icon boxes are generated very simply via Karma’s built-in Shortcode Manager. Full details for creating unlimited custom boxes can be found in the “Shortcodes” Training Video: http://vimeopro.com/truethemes/karma-4/page/2
Karma 4.0.1 is now available for download
This update is primarily a maintenance release which includes a handful of minor bug fixes, 1 security improvement for prettyPhoto lightbox, as well as a few goodies such as an Instagram social media icon.
We love serving you!
Thank you for the helpful links. Always appreciate the changelog.
You guys are awesome.
Just went to upgrade from 4.0 to 4.0.1 and noticed that my upgrade option is missing on this step.
“In the “Theme Upgrade” box choose “Yes” from the dropdown list.”
You’re very welcome my friend!
So sorry if any confusion. That is a step that is no longer required. You can kindly ignore and all will be well.
Sorry for my ignorance, I just don’t want to mess anything up. When I go to upload I get the following.
Unpacking the package…
Installing the theme…
Destination folder already exists. /*/wp-content/themes/Karma/
Theme install failed.
Should I just FTP and over wright the files?
Nevermind, I found the video you included below with the updated instructions.
What a gorgeous update! Can’t wait to update! In the demo, can you tell me what font set you are using? It looks great and I can never sort myself a combination that looks so nice. Thanks!
Thank you so much my friend! We’re so glad you’re enjoying the new update.
The demo site is using the “Modern Font Kit”. This is a single checkbox within Karma’s Site Options Panel: Appearance > Site Options > Fonts.
Font Kits are preloaded groups of Google Fonts with pixel perfect settings. Simply check the box next to “Modern Font Kit”, save the settings and your website will look super awesome
Hope this is helpful. Have a wonderful weekend.
Hi, I have the same problem as chays77 , and here is the error message

I’m still with Karma 3.0.4 who is working fine.
With the last 4.0.1 release (with amazing changes) if I update Karma theme, the site design will stay as is today or I need some work to keep the same design.
web site: www.panzani-avocat.fr
Thanks so much for the kind words my friend.
During an upgrade your website’s design will remain the same.
We have made some minor tweaks to Karma 4.0 in terms of spacing, padding etc, so the only difference is that your site will look even cleaner and more appealing than before.
