I purchased this theme 12 Apr 2020, and I’ve only got around to installing it today as I have been organising my portfolio images.

I tried installing as per the instructions and I got this error:

Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function signature_get_options() in /home1/wafxga0adqz6/public_html/wp-content/plugins/signature_shortcodes/shortcodes.php:248 Stack trace: #0 /home1/wafxga0adqz6/public_html/wp-includes/class-wp-hook.php(287): VCExtendAddonClass->integrateWithVC(’’) #1 /home1/wafxga0adqz6/public_html/wp-includes/class-wp-hook.php(311): WP_Hook->apply_filters(NULL, Array) #2 /home1/wafxga0adqz6/public_html/wp-includes/plugin.php(478): WP_Hook->do_action(Array) #3 /home1/wafxga0adqz6/public_html/wp-settings.php(540): do_action(‘init’) #4 /home1/wafxga0adqz6/public_html/wp-config.php(95): require_once(’/home1/wafxga0a…’) #5 /home1/wafxga0adqz6/public_html/wp-load.php(37): require_once(’/home1/wafxga0a…’) #6 /home1/wafxga0adqz6/public_html/wp-admin/admin.php(34): require_once(’/home1/wafxga0a…’) #7 /home1/wafxga0adqz6/public_html/wp-admin/themes.php(10): require_once(’/home1/wafxga0a…’) #8 {main} thrown in /home1/wafxga0adqz6/public_html/wp-content/plugins/signature_shortcodes/shortcodes.php on line 248

There has been a critical error on your website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.

It’s actually bombed the site completely as it won’t load now. Is there an easy fix for this? There is nothing in the documentation. I’ve just begun a complete site restore from a backup is will appreciate some advice before I attempt to install this theme again.

I have managed to restore the site from a backup and solved the issue for the moment. Wordpress identified a number of conflicts with my previous theme. So I deleted all plugins, activated a basic Wordpress theme, then installed your theme again. Seems to be working so far… Any other issues I’ll post up…

Just so you are aware, after importing the theme I received this:

Failed to import portfolio_category Advertising Failed to import portfolio_category Architecture Failed to import portfolio_category Fashion Failed to import portfolio_category Objects Failed to import “Beau Cacao Single Estate”: Invalid post type portfolio Failed to import “Minimal Approach For Homes”: Invalid post type portfolio Failed to import “Retro Cities”: Invalid post type portfolio Failed to import “Modern Architecture Photoshoot”: Invalid post type portfolio Failed to import “Give A Hand To Wildlife”: Invalid post type portfolio Failed to import “Pronto Cafe”: Invalid post type portfolio Failed to import “Blue Victorian Accessories”: Invalid post type portfolio Failed to import “Motel Girl”: Invalid post type portfolio Failed to import “New Galaxy Special Edition”: Invalid post type portfolio Failed to import “Tokio Fashion Week Catalogue”: Invalid post type portfolio Failed to import “Red & Fast Shoes Magazine”: Invalid post type portfolio Failed to import “Fashion Wild Mood”: Invalid post type portfolio Failed to import “White Light”: Invalid post type portfolio Failed to import “Geometric Chocolate Party”: Invalid post type portfolio Failed to import “Country Beauty Magazine”: Invalid post type portfolio Failed to import “Miniature Calendar Tatsuya Tanaka”: Invalid post type portfolio Failed to import “Arizona Muse Pure Morning”: Invalid post type portfolio

Hi, please ensure that you’ve installed and activated all of the plugins that come with the theme before importing demo content.

I wanted to know if there was a way that the images in the Kuist Portfolio can use the caption feature so it appears when the image is clicked.

The only way I have managed to have the portfolio recognise the caption is by adding them via the Wordpress media library, as the caption box is greyed out and not editable via the portfolio interface. Once I have used the Wordpress option, the captions then appear in the Kuist Portfolio under the images, but they don’t appear when you view the gallery live on the website.

Is there a work around to solve this please, as I would like to caption my gallery images via the Theme rather than having to do this via Photoshop, and re-saving each image. Even if I was able to do this using the blocks or a shortcode that would be better than the Photoshop option.

Thanks for replying. I have seen the captions now thank you. Yesterday they were crashing into the heading for the gallery, but today they seem OK weirdly. I want to be able to put the caption where I want if possible. For example under the image.

My site is cueip.com

You’re welcome. It was probably a browser cache issue. Happy to hear that it’s fine now.

As far as I see, you preferred a category based structure on your site. So you’re using the portfolio credits as image captions.

In fact, even if you don’t use the actual credit fields, the space under the image is restricted for portfolio credits, so I’m afraid changing the placement of image captions requires much more work than it seems. And unfortunately it’s beyond our support limits. Hope it’s not a big problem for you.

Kind regards

“the space under the image is restricted for portfolio credits” aaah so not the individual image credits, but the entire portfolio?

It’s fine for now mate, if it’s an issue i can get someone to and the css.

Thanks again.

Hi, Love the theme but I have some questions; Is it possible to change the order of the filter so it is not alphabetic, and is it possible to change the order of the portfolio items shown on the front page?

Thank you!

Hi, I have added a lot of portfolio items. But know I can’t drag&drop from the last page?

Hi, please ensure that you’re on …/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=portfolio page. When you hover portfolio items, your mouse cursor should turn to a dragging cursor and you can drag&drop items.

If you’re still having problems, please send an e-mail to burnhambox@gmail.com including your WP login address, username and password to let us have a look.

Hey! I have a few troubleshooting questions about the Kuist theme that I purchased recently. Please let me know if you can help me with the following:

- Where can I Upload Magnifying glass icon to Portfolio image? I don’t see the child theme in the zip so if the image is already in the code how can i activate it?

- How can I get the “About” title to be underneath the photo on the about page (same as demo). Mine shows above the image, and I can’t move the location of Title.

- Change the Title on the webpage tabs. I’ve changed everything in Customize and SEO, and the tabs still say “A Wordpress Site”

Thank you so much!

Hi there, sorry for late reply!

1. The magnifier icon is generated by Font Awesome, so it’s not an image file actually. But still, if you want to change it, please open functions.php file and look for the “kuist-mag” term. You’ll see the line there.

2. Please add a Featured Image to your page. I think you’re embedding it to your page content right now.

3. Please ensure that you edited the “Tagline” field on “Settings > General” section. If you’re using Yoast SEO, maybe you can have a look at to the “SEO > Search Appearance” section and its tabs to see if there’s any “A Wordpress Site” term left in the fields.

Hello, I’m hoping you can help me with the KUIST theme. I’m having trouble with the following:

1- Change menu icon in Mobile view (shows “No Glyph” icon) 2- Change portfolio overlay icon (shows “No Glyph” icon instead of magnifying glass) 3- Blog page shows 1 column on the 2column setting and 2 columns on 3 columns setting. How can I show 3 columns on desktop view?

Any help is appreciated!

Hi again Brianna,

Unfortunately our theme is not compatible with Bootstrap and giving support about this is beyond our support limits. I hope it’s not a very big problem to use the theme with Font Awesome icons.

About the columns, have you ever edited the core files or added a custom CSS? Because our theme hasn’t got a 1 column blog view. If you wish, you can send an e-mail to burnhambox@gmail.com including your WP login info to let us have a closer look.

Is it possible to only show a selected category when the portfolio opens?

Hi there, sorry for late reply!

For now, Kuist hasn’t got that feature. But thanks for the idea. We’ll consider adding this option.

Hello, I installed the template and this worked fine, I also installed the necessary plugins, but when I create a kuist portfolio it’s not working well, and it doesn’t show me anything, none of the selected photos. What’s the problem? could you help me? Thanks

Is there anyway to integrate video either by uploading or remote playing via Youtube or Vimeo?

Hi there, for now, our Kuist theme is only for photos.

2 Questions, Is it possible to have a description under each enlarged image? I see an update was released yesterday, what was fixed/changed?

Hi :)

1. Please open the image in your Media Library (or click the “Change” button on “Edit Portfolio Item” page). There, you can use the “Caption” field to add your description to the image. But the caption location is not under the image since it’s for portfolio credits. You’ll see the caption at the top-left side of the screen.

2. It was just a preview image & thumbnail change. Nothing important.

Kind regards

Hello, What do you think about the detailed portfolio page? They are empty.

Hi there :) Thanks for your feedback! We’re not planning to add more detailed pages into our theme because the thing that makes Kuist special is that simplicity. This is a theme to show your portfolio in a quick, arranged and sleek way.

Is it possible to filter out a portfolio category so it does not show up in the main homepage?

great because I can use this theme for several clients would be great to have this essential feature! Beautiful theme btw!

Also I noticed that while viewing it on mobile site the menu disappears is it possible to allow a mobile menu?

Please go to “Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS” and add the following CSS:

.mobile-menu-button { display: block !important; }

There is no set up walk through for this theme. Where do the portfolio items live?
