Hey Dabaman,

I’m having trouble uploading a video to the portfolio section of my site. I put in the video URL on the edit portfolio item page, but then nothing happens.

Hey Dabaman,

The site is located at http://prawsoncreative.com

I pasted the URL correctly. I tried pasting youtube’s old format URL, the new format; I also tried embedding it. I took a screenshot for your convenience:

Is this a US3R 3RR0R? Maybe I’m doing something wrong!

In terms of the mobile site, here is a copy of what I’m talking about:

(had to use a MacBook to take a photo of my iPhone… Apple would be proud? 8P)

I’m trying to get rid of the black top border that says “My Website” and the Home and Skip to Content Buttons. Again, I can’t find what code to comment out in the header.php file, so I figure it’s buried somewhere else? I used Sublime Text to search the entirety of the theme’s folder for the keywords “Skip to Content,” couldn’t find something.

Let me know if there’s anything else I can provide that’ll help you solve these bugs.

1. I know what’s the problem now! There is a bug in theme v1.8 with custom meta boxes (e.g. ‘Video URL’ field) not saving values. I’ve already fixed that problem in v1.9, so you can download it and use it instead. Just make sure you copy any css changes you made. If you made more significant changes to several core files, and can’t use the new version, just email me and I’ll send you only the php file where this problem is fixed.

Not sure about US3R 3RR0R – they play LoL, and this is Diablo III. :)

2. This is not added by the theme, but probably with some plugin you installed and only happens when you open http://mobile.prawsoncreative.com/. I’m not sure that you need additional mobile version of the site, since this theme is already responsive. You can simply load http://prawsoncreative.com/, and if you need to adjust the look of the mobile version, you can do it by editing media queries at the bottom of style.css file.

That’s what I figured. Damn plug-ins! Now I gotta figure out which one is messing with the site >:(

Thanks for the help!

hi – question. On the blog, can you make it single column and therefore removing the widget area ? How can you do that ? What is the maximum width of the blog article with the widget area ? What is the maximum width of the blog article without the widget area – assuming you can remove it ?

thanks – jerry

Hi, I’ll add the option to remove the sidebar in my next update, though it can be done right now by editing the code. The max width is 485 or 745px.

how can i make the images in flexlider go to lightbox on click?

where to change the speed of the flex-slider

how to change the flex-slider dots to numbers as in the html version

Hi, I answered everything via email.

I just getting started on the theme have 3 questions.

1) How do I change the background of the side navigation and the main content background?

2) My client wants me to add a small contact form under the menu. Can I use the contact form short code and what file do I put it in?

3) Flex-slider. I do not want the border to display or the cycle of dots. I would like to add my own shadowing. What do I need to edit in the css to reflect that?

1) For the menu sidebar background you can use something like this:

#menu { background:#333; }

and for the rest:

html { background:#fff; }

2) I don’t suggest this because it will get cut off on smaller resolutions for sure (beside the obvious styling issues). But you can do this if you edit menu.php and place something like this at the bottom, just above the closing section tag:

<?php echo do_shortcode('[contact-form-7 id="1571" title="Contact form 1"]'); ?>

Of course, replace the contact form shortcode with your own.

3) All stylings for the slider are defined inside style.css (search for ’=flex slider’). For example, this will remove the border:

.flexslider { border:none; box-shadow:none; }
.flex-direction-nav .next { right:40px; }

For button navigation, edit .flex-control-nav li and .flex-control-nav a

I am trying to change the color of the left navigation. When I enter this code with my new BG image url the navigation just turns white: #menu { background: url(file_url_link); }

Is there a certain size the image to be?

you probably didn’t entered the correct file url – it should be the complete address, including http:// at the beginning. The image I’ve used is 220px wide.

How can I change the size of the Google Map? Also how can I change the color of the button?

add something like this inside ‘Custom CSS’ field on your options page:

#map_canvas { height:500px; }

the width is always 100% – so if you want your map to be as wide as the entire page, place it inside [one] shortcode instead of [one_half].

For buttons color, you can use something like this:

.maja_button, .more-link, .comment-reply-link, .pages a, .page-numbers, input[type=submit], .tagcloud a {
background:#FAC984; }

the number at the end is a hex value for desired color.

I have moved my form in the left column below the navigation and above the social media icons but I cannot get the left column to display its entire content and the social media icons overlap the bottom of the form.

Please advise.

Thank you!

I put it back in place. I can’t get the social icons to stay below and I am more than willing to move the navigation up to accommodate the form. Thank you!

I moved the menu up. I just need the social icons to remain at the bottom.

Just add: #social_wrapper { bottom:0; }

Hi, thanks for a great theme! I’ve got a question regarding css customization. What’s the appropriate way to customize the desktop version (width, layout, etc) without affecting the responsiveness of the theme and the mobile version?

Thank you.

there are three main divs that make the layout: #container – that contains the entire site, #menu – that contains the entire left column with navigation, and #wrapper – that wraps the content section on the right. So, in order to change the layout, you only need to change widths for those. This are the current values:

#container { max-width: 1000px; }

#menu {
width: 22%;
max-width: 220px; }

#wrapper {
width: 78%;
max-width: 780px;}

So, if you want to make the site wide up to, let’s say, 1600px, you would do something like this:

@media only screen and (min-width:768px) {
#container { max-width: 1600px; }

#menu {
width: 22%;
max-width: 352px;
min-width:inherit;  }

#wrapper {
width: 78%;
max-width: 1248px;}

Hope that it makes sense. Of course, in this case you would need to apply wider bg to #menu, and set bigger featured images for portfolio etc. inside functions.php.

Makes perfect sense, it was the @media that I was after, so it won’t affect other settings. Thanks for a quick and in-depth reply!

I am having trouble with my sub menu on the who we are page. If you click on it the submenu appears but does not expand. If you click on it from another link it works fine.

Please advise. Thank you!

@media only screen and (max-width: 768px) {
#menu .wpcf7 {display:none; }

Thanks! One more question. I’m using nextgen gallery as the gallery plugin and it is opening up 2 popup windows when an image is clicked on

In viewing the forums it seems that this may be theme related option for a theme built in lightbox. Any suggestions?

Check this comment on previous page.

How do I change the text color inside the button?

Also, how do I input a google map location?

one more, how can I change the link color?

Sorry to post again, one more question: how do I decrease the amount of space between my logo and menu ?

here is the css for all that:

/* space between logo and navigation */
#menu_list { margin-top: 10px; }

/* regular link color */
a { color: #5C92D8; }

/* button color */
.maja_button, .more-link, .comment-reply-link, .page-numbers, input[type=submit], .tagcloud a { color: #D85C5C; }

/* button color on hover */
.maja_button:hover, .more-link:hover, .comment-reply-link:hover, .page-numbers:hover, input[type=submit]:hover, .tagcloud a:hover { color: #AEE250; }

Google map location is defined inside theme options page, where you need to enter your location longitude and latitude.

Also, please make sure you post your questions from the account you used to buy the theme, or alternatively just email me item purchase code.

On this page I have the content set up in a table per my clients layout provided http://www.meetingsfirst.com/our-team/

The images appear fine in firefox but they are dots in safari, mobile and chrome.

Can you let me know what I need to change so they appear the appropriate size?

Thank you!

Try adding table img { max-width: inherit; }

Perfect! Thank you!

Hi dabaman,

Would have given you 6 stars if I could! Just went through some of your support comments here and found great ideas to try myself. Incredible, to what extent you helped some people out here.

Awesome work! Awesome support!

Thank you very much! :)

How do you remove the shadow from the font in the Menu bar

that didn’t seem to work

Also I want to change the text color in the menu

I’ve just checked it and it’s working fine. Did you paste it inside ‘Appearance>Theme Options>Custom CSS code’ box? For changing the color, replace DED886 from the code bellow with a hex value for your desired color. You can use this color picker to get that value (at the top).

#menu_list li a {

I am having difficulty getting my content to display the full-width of the page. Whether I am using the right side-bar for widgets or not , the page content is always squeezed into three-quarters of the page aligned from the left. How do I fix this please?

if you are using ‘page with sidebar’ template, you need to remove any layout shortcodes you have on the page (in your case probably [three_fourths]...[/three_fourths]). That’s most likely the problem.

Hi, Thank you for the great template ! How can I put an image below the menu on the left ?

Thank you in advance for your response Eliza

Hi Eliza,

if you want an image bellow the menu, you’ll have to hardcode it. However, keep in mind that there isn’t much free space in the left column, so please make sure you use only a small image.

Inside ‘Appearance>Editor’ open ‘menu.php’ from the right side. Near the bottom, just above <?php get_template_part( 'footer-menu' ) ?> line, paste this:

and replace FileURL with an actual URL for your image (you can get it inside your media library).

thanks a lot, that’s perfect!

Hi!, how can I increase the flex-slider height? thanks!

I’m sorry, but the theme doesn’t support adding widgets inside full width pages. You can use ‘page with sidebar’ template, and show latest post inside the sidebar on the right side.

No problem… I already put a plugin shortcode to show my latests post in the home page. Another one… can I have more than one portfolio gallery on my site? thanks!

You can use [portfolio-3col category="category name"] shortcode to display all posts assigned to specific category.

Hi dabaman, great theme! It works well but I’ve got a problem with the search form. I noticed that it works only for the articles, how can I do for the pages? Because I need that the search form works with pages and articles. Thank You Marta

Hi Marta,

search indeed works only for articles, but I will set it to work on pages as well in my next update. In the meantime, you can do this by yourself by going to ‘Appearance>Editor’, and opening ‘Theme Functions’ from the right side. Search for ‘INCLUDING PHP FILES’ title, and under it find this lines:

// search filter
include 'lib/search-filter.php';

replace that with this code:

function custom_excerpt($text = '') {
      $raw_excerpt = $text;
      if ( '' == $text ) {
          $text = get_the_content('');
          $text = do_shortcode( $text );
          $text = apply_filters('the_content', $text);
          $text = str_replace('', '', $text);
          $excerpt_length = apply_filters('excerpt_length', 55);
          $excerpt_more = apply_filters('excerpt_more', ' ' . '[...]');
          $text = wp_trim_words( $text, $excerpt_length, $excerpt_more );
      return apply_filters('wp_trim_excerpt', $text, $raw_excerpt);
  remove_filter( 'get_the_excerpt', 'wp_trim_excerpt'  );
  add_filter( 'get_the_excerpt', 'custom_excerpt'  );

and update the file. Search should work on pages now as well. You may also want to paste this inside ‘Appearance>Theme Options>Custom CSS’, just to fix some styling issues:

.search-results article { margin-bottom: 50px; }

Hi dabaman, thank you for the answer. It works perfectly! Cheers.
