Anyone know where the option is to turn this into a Grid Layout?

Have you installed the Portfolio plugin that comes packaged with the theme? Please refer to the documentation provided on how to install the plugin.

Once you have installed the plugin it will activate the Portfolio Post Type. From the WordPress Dashboard you can create Portfolio posts which will appear on your Homepage Grid Template.

Got it, thanks. Here’s another question: I want each portfolio page to NOT display the Featured Image and instead add images within the white box by adding media (such as a Gallery) within each Portfolio page. Is this not possible?

From within the post editor, you can add native gallery images to the white content box using the WordPress Media Manager.

Featured images are displayed as default in all portfolio posts. All images will display above the white content box by design. You would need to customize the theme to change this.

It is possible to edit wp_get_attachment_image in single-portfolio.php to remove the featured image. For an example of how to show all attachments for the current post except the Featured Image see the WordPress codex below.

Please note, I do not advise that you edit the theme files directly, if you are not familiar with PHP or WordPress code, please get a WordPress developer to customize the theme to your requirements.

Hi everyone, I would just like to say that this is a beautiful theme that is very easy to customise and work with. The support for this theme is also excellent and whenever I have needed help Dean has been so wonderful at providing the support I have needed!!

Hi, I’m having a few difficulties locating things. my site is test.craigdean.co.uk and I have downloaded the portfolio plug in, however when I click on the images it goes to a ‘not found page’ or straight back to homepage – As I click on the image i’d like to go to a project page going looking at the project selected – just how it is on the orb preview version – a speedy response would be great! thanks

Hi, it didn’t work…

I want to add images/gallery within the portfolio grid when I click on each project – where do i add them? in the portfolio tab editor or page?

You need to create a new portfolio post and attach your images for each project. The featured images for each portfolio post are displayed automatically on the homepage grid template and link through to your portfolio post.

If you would like more personal one on one support, i suggest you email me at my support email address.

Thanks

Hi,

First of all I think this is one of the best looking portfolio themes out there so congrats on that but secondly the footer is a bit basic. Before I purchase it I was wondering is there options in the theme for colour change, adding images, widgets etc… to jazz it up a bit? Thanks in advance

Hey, thanks for the kind words, I appreciate it.

I’ll admit the footer is rather minimal but that was the intention. It would be fairly easy to widgetize the footer to display more content if that’s what you really want. Although I cannot do this for you, if you want to drop me a support email, I’ll certainly be able to give you some code and point you in the right direction so you can customize the footer to suit your needs.

Cheers, Dean

Hi – just some useful information.

Orb displays the Featured image by default in all portfolio posts. If you did not want to display the featured image as default, you can simply change the following line of code in single-portfolio.php

$args = array(
        'post_type' => 'attachment',
        'numberposts' => -1,
        'post_status' => null,
        'post_parent' => $post->ID,
        'exclude'     => get_post_thumbnail_id(),
    );
http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags/get_post_thumbnail_id

How can I activate the navigation between the portfolio elements of the same category (the arrows that appear next to the title for “previous” and “next” (e.x. http://themeforest.net/item/orb-a-neat-grid-style-portfolio-theme/full_screen_preview/7190174), they are not shown on our webpage (http://carameloescaso.co/wp/portfolio/alcaldia-de-medellin/)

Hi – I can see your website has been heavily customised from the original theme. From looking at the code the portfolio navigation icons have been removed.

To add them you would need to add the following code to your single-portfolio.php template just before

<!-- end block -->
<div class="arrowLeft">
<?php next_post_link('%link', '<i class="fa fa-long-arrow-left" />'); ?>
</div>

<p class="entry-tagline"><?php the_title(); ?></p>

<div class="arrowRight">
<?php previous_post_link('%link', '<i class="fa fa-long-arrow-right" />'); ?>
</div>

The code exists, I changed its location… when I had the test information I was able to navigate between the portfolios, but in the new ones I can´t

Sorry, but I’m not sure I understand your question fully. Please feel free to contact my support email with more detailed information.

Thanks

Dean

Hi!

I love your theme, would really like to use it! I have a pre-sale question though. I hope I can explain my question good enough…

Is it possible to have an image for a category, and display the categories on the homepage? When you click a category, you would enter a new page which looks like the homepage in the demo: so a page which shows all the items in the selected category.

So for example something like this: Home: Category A - Item A 1 - Item A 2 - Item A 3 Category B - Item B 1 - Item B 2 - Item B 3

Etc etc.

I want to build a portfolio site with the theme, but would like to make navigation between all the portfolio items easier by using categories or a subnavigation or something.

I hope my explanation is understandable and that you have an awnser for me! Thanks in advance!

Cheers, Selina

Hi Selina,

Yes, you can create as many categories as you like and then tag your portfolio projects. You can then add all your categories to the menu.

Take a look at this site which uses categories to organise portfolio projects by Design, Branding, Packaging, Print, Web etc.

Hope that helps!

Thanks

Dean

I have updated to most recent release as of today and noticed your bundle zip no longer contains the demo content. I have an old Demo Content XML from your V1, but could not get the grid portfolio (like in the Demo Site) to show up properly in this new V2.01. Your help is appreciated.

Hi Thor,

You can download the latest XML file from here—https://www.dropbox.com/s/5fjudyndyqvb2sz/orb.wordpress.2016-06-29.xml?dl=0

As for the gird not showing up properly, mind sharing a screenshot or maybe site url?

Thanks, Dev

My URL & login info has been re-sent (2nd attempt). Thanks for your help!

Hey, got the mail / login info, looking into it now—give me a few minutes.

Hi, I purchased this theme a while ago for my portfolio but now I’ve decided I want to do some more advanced case studies for my single portfolio pages. Rather than having one block of text at the bottom of the page with a bunch of featured images on top, I’d like to have text throughout the page. Does this theme work with a page builder like Visual Composer so that I’m able to do this, or would that not work with the way the images are displayed on the page?

I don’t have a specific site as an example, but let’s say I wanted to set up the page like this: Image taking up 1/2 of page | Text taking up 1/2 of page | Full width image | Full width text etc…

Hi there!

You can add the images in-between the content / change formatting via Post editor screen. But other than that, it is not compatible with any Visual Composer.

Hi, I have installed the update of the theme but now my portfolio page doesn’t show the grid and when I look at the individual posts they are formatted as a blog post instead of a portfolio post. Any ideas how I can fix this? That would be very helpful! Thank you!

Thank you, it is working for the primary menu but somehow not for the header. Any idea why?

Sorry, should have included !important tag.

Use this one:

header {background: #000 !important;}

Thank you!
