hello! First of all, thank you very much for this awesome theme.
I’m very happy with it, I’m a 3D artist and I just need some visual features currently included in this theme, I did some tweaking by css but everything works great.
As you know, we usually need a lot of visual content to showcase our projects, and this theme is perfect for that, although I’m only missing one feature, it would be awesome to display the feature image gif, as I’m showing it in my Orc project (fourth on the list) https://davidvercher.es/STRATO-apps/wordpress_02/ , but it would be better if the gif played on hover.
I know that the function image is an internal function of wordpress, but I am wondering if it is possible to do it by looking for a workaround.

Hello, thank you for your message. Unfortunately the theme doesn’t have this option (I did it in the other themes) but I think I can add it in the future updates, just need some time.

How can I replicate your video portfolio? I followed instruction video on youtube. Can I use your theme for onepager website? Hello, the first switcher on your your screenshot is “Open in Lightbox” which should be turned on and third field is “Video URL for Lightbox”.
About afterwards text I think it’s not possible with options, some files have to be edited, you can send me admin access to support email and I will take a look.

Is there a way to create a direct link to a filtered portfolio page?
For example: mysite.com/portfolio/?filter=marketing
I would assume this would open the portfolio page with the filter set to marketing and just showing those items but it always loads the default filter.
Hello, thank you for your message. Unfortunately it’s not possible to make with filter variable in URL but you can create a portfolio page with selected Marketing category (in “categories” tab of the page settings)
Hi Mallini! I took this Theme over at Elements.Envato for a Webproject and wanted to change the Colors in Theme Options. Unfortunately there is no possibility to change the Colors in Hex Format. Is there a way I can override it? Thanks!
Hello, I purchased your theme some time ago and I love the clean look. However, today I tried to install the latest version (i had version 3.1.1) and when I activated the new version my site would not load (fatal error). I reinstalled v3.1.1 to save my site but I would like to install the update for woocommerce support. Can you tell me what happened and what I could do? Thank you!

Unfortunately there is no such option in the theme, you only can add caption for lightbox (under image in lightbox after popup)
not even by adding custom css to .portfolio-item and .item-decription?
It depends on how many content you need and what template you use, for example in Portfolio 4 columns you can’t add much text inder featured image. Perhaps it needs deep theme customization.

Hi. I am thinking about buying this theme but I would like to know more details about the video portfolio. I want to use it mainly for that, and I would like to know if I can add headings in between the videos or video blocks so I can organice them better. If so, do you have an example? Also, can all the video thumbnails be the same size? I can see there are different sizes on each videos. Thank you.

About headings, unfortunately there are only lightboxes for video without headings/captions.
About thumbnails, they may be the same size if you crop them with same ratio, I just use portrait and landscape images in demo to show possibilities
Ok. So can I only use the filter for video? I don’t really mean a title on the video itself but more like groups. Lets say I select 10 videos and at the top I want to write ‘Music videos’, then 10 more lower down with the title ’ Short films’. Would that be possible?
Yes it is possible but order might be a problem, wordpress sorts items by publishing date
So you mean I wont be able to put the videos on the order I want them to be? by publishing what do you mean? Like youtube publishing date?
You can organize them by order you want but it will be publishing date in wordpress (Project date, not youtube). If you used wordpress you can find Publishing date in each Post or Portfolio item; the latest, the highest. If you have a lot of projects it might be not easy.

I think it will be better to put them all together in homepage (all videos) and make separate pages for each category.

Yes, unfortunately the theme doesn’t have titles with separation, also no live preview, perhaps only with Visual composer or Page builder plugin

yes right, you can show one or more filters on a page, for example show all of projects in Portfolio page and specific categories in sub-menu.
Your Portfolio page might look like this, with drop-down filters from each category – https://pinecone.mallinidesign.com/portfolio3/
And pages ‘music videos’, ‘short films’ show only one category without drop-down menu with filters.

Hello. I bought your motives and I am very happy. However, I have a problem. Gallery preview images and other galleries display the gallery name followed by the filter name. In my case they are the same so I would like it not to display the filter name. Unfortunately I can’t turn it off in the options. Can you help me turn it off using CSS?

I have the same issue as gneto and my theme was also downloaded as month’s free item, version 3.0. I didn’t try to update to php 7, but i receive a message to update php. Too bad that Themeforest doesn’t allow updates for free items. You did a great work! Congratulations!

The last update of Pinecone theme was month ago, I can’t say if your version has any problems but Themeforest is not aloow updates for free items. You can try to install and check your version.

It didn’t work, plugins installation with php 7 failed, I switched to php 5.6 and it went throught (but not all of them), then back to php 7, it could not also get from the repositories.

There are only sorting by Date, Title, Slug and Random in Theme options, all of them are default, do for Date – newest is first. The easiest way to sort is changing Publush date for items, of course if you have not a lot of items. Second is editing files in theme – content-masonry.php and functions.php to add there option wirh Ascending order.

Yes you can open ‘content-masonry.php’ in wp-content/themes/pinecone. Depending on your version it might be line 25 and 42:
'orderby' => $portfolio_sorting,
here default parameter is ‘date’, next line you can add:
'order' => 'DESC',
another variant is ‘ASC’, here is wordpress guide – https://codex.wordpress.org/Class_Reference/WP_Query
Same thing in ‘functions.php’ on line 383 in my version:
'orderby' => $portfolio_sorting,
Adding ‘order’ in all 3 cases will give you default sorting for all types of portfolio.

There might be some Java script bug in plugins which you use, you can disable all and keep only Portfolio installer and Options tree then check again.
Also you can try reinstall theme because some files may be damaged, and I recommend you to update theme to latest version.
