Thanks for the great support so far! I’m assigning featured images to blog posts to get the photo to come up on the front page list, but I want to fully control the post – ie where images are placed. How do I suppress the featured image coming up in the post automatically?
Just sorted! Thanks to previous code you provided – thanks for the lesson!
HI there, I have re-downloaded the theme and noticed that the previous one that I had earlier installed was version 1.3 and this current one is 1.6.
What are the main differences in the newer file and how can I upgrade without loosing the content and settings in the earlier older version that is currently running on the website?
I think the main difference between these versions is that 1.6 is now responsive and plenty of little niggly bugs have been eliminated, its certainly worth updating.
You can easily update without loosing your current website’s content by dong the following:
1.) Backup your theme options by going to “Appearance > Theme Options > Backup Options” then copy the code from the “Transfer Theme Options Data” field and save it in a plain text file
2.) Go to your web host’s control panel and backup your MySQL database, this step isn’t necessary but I’d recommend it anyway as its better to be safe than sorry!
Hi, may I know how I can remove the “Block Title 1.. Block Title 2…” area pls?
Sure, open “Relief/template-homepage.php” and delete lines 25 – 59
Does pagination work on events page? I have put the limit to 5 but have 10 events added. But it does not show pagination at the bottom on the events page.
Well spotted, yes it appears to not be working since the last update.
I’ll aim to get a fix out in the next couple of days.
Sorry for the inconvenience!
ok thanks will wait for it
Just a heads up, I have fixed this and submitted the update to Themeforest but its still awaiting approval (20 hours so far), I’ll let you know when its available for download
Its been approved and is available for download now, sorry for the inconvenience!
Though I didn’t copy the entire files in this fix, the pagination still didn’t come but then I noticed a line which was in template-blog.php was missing in template-events.php, so I copied it there and it worked.
But thank you for your response. Appreciate it a lot.
I have just bought this theme, uploaded first via wordpress back office and then via FTP – when I activated both times I got a white screen and couldn’t access anything… HELP !
Many thanks for purchasing, can you check that you’re running the latest version of WordPress (3.4.2)?
Hi there, I managed to resolve this and the other issue I emailed you about. White screen was theme clashing with a pre installed plugin from an old theme.
I wonder if you could help me on another point…. the events don’t appear to be displaying on the homepage or the events page even though I have put events in.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Sorry, one other question – I can’t seem to get the top menu or footer menu links to work… any suggestions?
To display the events on the homepage you’ll need to use the “homepage” template which you can select from the “Template” drop down on the right hand side when creating a new page.
To setup menus go to “Appearance > Menus” and then set the top right menu as the “Secondary Navigation” and the footer menu as the “Footer Navigation”.
If you’re still having problems after trying the above could you send me you site URL + login to email@example.com and I’ll set it up for you.
Is it possible to create menus with more than one item listed within them ?
Congratulations on producing an excellent template !
As in a drop down menu? if so yes, go to “Appearance > Menus” then add your items to the menu, then to create a drop down menu drag menu items right until the indent.
i cant get the slide show to show.
what am i doing wrong?
Have you created a page using the “Homepage” template?
Go to “Pages > Add New”, then select “Homepage” from the “Templates” drop down menu.
Also make sure you’ve added a slide in “Slideshow > Add New”.
Might also want to check “Appearance > Theme Options > Homepage Settings”, make sure the “Display Slideshow” option is checked.
I sent you an email yesterday, is there anyway you can help/look into my blog and gallery issues I am having as I need to get it populated asap and as it stands I’m concerned about it not working.
I look forward to hearing back from you to my email.
p.s Still loving this theme, best I used in a while!
Just responded to your email
I need help with my site.. some pages are showing changes I am making and some arent. And when you go to my site, its constantly loading the page like something is broken and cant be found. Please Help!
My guess would be that you might have a cache plugin that you’re not clearing before checking after updates. When you go back into the WordPress control panel and edit the page are the changes still there?
Regarding the loading problem, go to “Appearance > Theme Options > Sponsors Settings” and delete the “Sponsors” field.
How do I reduce the gaps between the top and bottom of my logo and the horizontal bars within the theme ? Just need to know where the relevant css entry is…
I’m having challenges with inserting photos into pages & posts, with regard to choosing the best size for them.
As I make the width of my browser window narrower – the photos crash into the right hand widget area.
Can pictures be resized dynamically so that as I shrink the browser, everything looks proportional ?
As an alternative, can the responsiveness of the browser be turned off – so that I can plan everything to fixed width design – less elegant but totally predictable ?
When I browse my site on a smartphone, the theme crashes the donate button with my logo. Any help or suggestions, gratefully received….
Many thanks for purchasing, ah yep I see what you mean about the logo. That isn’t good, I’ll issue a fix for this in the next couple of days.
To edit the space between the top and bottom of the logo open “Relief/style.css” and:
1.) edit the margin on line 289
2.) edit the padding on line 272
3.) edit the bottom position on line 386
Just a heads up, I’ve fixed the responsive issue. The update is up so feel free to download it now. If you still want to disable the responsive layout see my response to mh90’s comment right after yours for instructions of how to do this.
Hi, I have tried viewing the website on the computer and on my mobile and realized that the interface look different. It looks fine on the computer.. but doesn’t look good on mobile when the screen size is smaller (some stuff dont show). Is is possible that I make the website look the same on mobile as it is on the computer? pls advise thank you!
Yes, I made the layout responsive so that its easier to read on mobile devices. If you want to turn off the responsive layout open “Relief/functions.php” and comment out line 336 by adding // to the front of the line like so:
//wp_enqueue_style('responsive', get_template_directory_uri() .'/css/responsive.css');
Then open “Relief/header.php” and delete line 18 which should be:
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, minimum-scale=1.0, maximum-scale=1.0">
Finally open “Relief/js/scripts.js” and delete lines 43 – 67
I just bought and installed the template but can’t get the slideshow working. I DO have a page based on the homepage template. I however don’t see any Slide option as mentioned in a previous post.
Thanks for purchasing, to add/edit slides you need to go to “Appearance > Theme Options > Home Settings” and then edit the slides in the “Slideshow” field using the shortcodes (instructions for the shortcodes can be found in the theme’s Documentation)
If you’re still having trouble setting up the homepage slideshow email your WordPress login details to firstname.lastname@example.org
I’m interested in buying this theme but not the colors options. I was wonder can you add-on another color theme pick? I like your “Nice Hotel – Theme color” Cream & Red?
Sure, it’d be pretty easy to add a custom colour scheme by modifying one of the existing style sheets, I’d be happy to help you do this.
Thanks for replying and the help. Another few more questions, at homepage area Latest News and Events I would like delete and replace with embed youtube video and Twitter Update Widget? I made a homepage mockup and was wondering if it’s possible? here the link http://imgur.com/GEyLv
Also I want to delete this too About Us, Site Map and Flickr. Question about gallery, can I add-on drop down title videos and make it into video gallery too? It would be great if it had photo and video tabs?
Yes, this would all be achievable with a tiny bit of customization, I’m happy to give you a few pointers of how to do this.
Great theme and support. I would like to get rid of the events option and replace it with a widget of my choice. Can you kindly assist on how to go about this?
The events section on the homepage isn’t a widget area, you can edit the code though. Just open “Relief/template-homepage.php” and delete line 142 – 228 and replace it with whatever you like.
Hi there, I have done as you have said and I am getting a syntax error. I am not very good with the coding and your assistance here will be much appreciated. I have pasted the error message that I have below
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /home/youthven/public_html/wp-content/themes/relief/template-homepage.php on line 147
