Why is this simple theme $80??? That sounds like a rip off!

Thank you for your interest in Risen.

ThemeForest recently allowed authors to set their own prices. I raised the price from $49 to $79 last week. I think if you compare that to other church website solutions, you’ll see that it’s still a bargain. The reason for the increase is that we have sold other themes on our own website in the $79 – $99 range for several years and found that to be what is necessary to sustain our business and continue to develop new themes, improve old themes and support several thousand customers.

We have had virtually no complaints about this pricing on our own website but I can see how going from $49 to $79 might look like a big increase on ThemeForest since prices have been on the lower end for so many years. If you’re looking to save a few more bucks then one of the many other themes might be a better choice for you. If you’re still interested in Risen and have other questions, just let me know. I’m happy to help!

Hello team, great theme! One question. I add 4 sliders but only 3 of them are visible. Is there a restriction to show maximum 3 sliders?

Does this support the now required map api? Can’t see this referenced in the documentation.

Thank you for using Risen.

Yes, go to Appearance > Theme Options > Other. There is a Google Maps API Key setting there. It is referenced here: http://stevengliebe.com/projects/wordpress-themes/risen/docs/#theme-options

I purchased your theme and I went to install it and I got the following error

Unpacking the package…

Installing the theme…

The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.

Theme install failed.

Please advise

Hello. My client would be purchasing this theme soon, but as I’m making a proposal, I noticed the live preview is down. I was using it for reference to price out pages and features so hopefully it will be up again soon?

Hello,

Thank you for your interest in Risen. My host was having some issues today but everything should be working fine now. Please try again and let me know if you have any questions.

Hello, we are interested in buying the theme. We need to know if in the gallery (single item with sidebar) it is possible to add other small pictures under the big one. We need an appropriate catalogue for our products. Thank you very much!

Hello,

Thank you for your interest in Risen.

A single gallery items looks like this (one photo or video): https://demos.churchthemes.com/risen/gallery-items/man-in-field/

A category looks like this (multiple photos or videos listed): https://demos.churchthemes.com/risen/gallery-category/church-tour/

There is no feature specifically as you describe. You can use WordPress’s own galleries feature, though. Create a page to add a photo to the top then insert a gallery below that photo.

Please let me know if you have other questions.

Hello, I found a issue that may confuse people for why their events don’t show up on the main page and should be clarified in The documentation. (unless i overlooked it because I couldn’t find a solution and figured it out on my own.)

It Does not specify anywhere that there is a 2nd date option under “quick edit” unrelated to the event times configured in the post editor, and that it affects the STATUS of the post, and weather or not the event shows on the widgets.

If this 2nd date is set to a time in the future, such as, the actual date of the event, the post status will remain in scheduled mode and wont display on the widgets until that time.

Having this 2nd date set to either a second past the current time or ANY time in the past will force the status to PUBLISHED, thus it will feature itself on the widget.

To those unaware, manually changing the status to published is redundant because it ignored those options.

So in closing, I think you should add to the documentation that there is a 2nd Date Option under quick edit that allows you to schedule “WHEN” the event itself appears on the widget.

Thank you for using Risen and for sharing about your experience. You are right, WordPress has a publish date for posts of all types. The Start Time is a separate custom field for events. If there ends up being other reports of this being confusing then I’ll see about adding some clarification. Hello, you only have the boxed version?

Hi Ricardo,

Thank you for your interest in Risen. The design is boxed. There is no alternate version. It will always show a background (color, pattern or image) with the header, footer and contents in a centered box.

Please let me know if you have other questions.

Hi there. I am really liking Risen. I am curious if I can make the main page wider. What I mean is can the content of the page that fits into the scrollable rectangle be made wider ? Thanks

Hello,

Thank you for your interest in Risen.

The maximum width is set to 960 pixels (it only reduces, only mobile devices). You would need to use a child theme to customize the width if you want it to be larger: http://stevengliebe.com/projects/wordpress-themes/risen/docs/#child-theme

Please let me know if you have any other questions before or after buying.

Hello Steven, a church I am working with purchased the Risen theme about 3 or 4 years ago.. Recently they were hacked and had malware installed. We were able to have it cleaned up but in the process a file may have been deleted or corrupted. The box is no longer there on the page but it spans the entire width of the screen. I know they deleted the file “wp-includes/css/modules.php”. I am coming into this late and I have only one backup from last year to work with. I coud not find that file in the backup. The site is lifechapelpoint.com. Do you think that missing file could be the issue, or do you have any thoughts on how to fix it?

Does this theme support live video streaming?

Thank you for your interest in Risen.

You can embed a live stream player from the provider of your choice (YouTube Live, uStream, Livestream.com, etc.). Who is your live stream provider? I can test if you provide me their embed code.

Thank you Steven for a great theme. It is clean and simple, easy to use, carefully thought out and well documented. I used it to create ngcc.ca/ if anyone wants to see it in use

Thank you for using Risen and for sharing your site. It looks great!

I’m not finding very much luck with this theme when it comes to SEO. One problem in particular is that all the theme widgets on the front page use H1 tags in the widgets title instead of say H2, which the homepage should according to most SEO experts should only have one H1 tag. I’d like to know if there is someone you can recommend to help fix this problem on the homepage? Or can you do this for a fee? Thank you.

Thank you for using Risen.

Risen uses HTML5 markup in which it has been considered useful (especially at the time of making this theme in 2012) to use H1 tags in articles, asides (widgets), etc. Browsers and search engines understand the hierarchy (they are in a sense documents within documents). Here is some information: http://webdesign.tutsplus.com/articles/the-truth-about-multiple-h1-tags-in-the-html5-era--webdesign-16824

SEO will have much more to do with your content than the markup, although this structure is perfectly valid. There are no plans to change it now, having thousands of users – many of which are using child themes that expect the structure to remain as it always has been.

I have used this theme for years it is GREAT. I am curious if there is a way to have a menu item go to a page with all the speakers listed on it… or have them in a widget. Thanks again

Has anyone sucessfully integrated WooCommerce into this theme? If so, is it a lot of work?

Hello,

I’m not aware of anybody who has done this. Here’s an idea of what would be involved: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/third-party-custom-theme-compatibility/. You could also submit a request for quote to a place like Codeable to get an idea. Envato Studio might have some people that do WooCommerce compatibility as well. That’d be a better place to start.
