I can’t seem to get any sidebars to appear on pages. Please help.

There is an option when adding/editing the page for enabling sidebar widgets. Make sure this box is checked.
Also make sure that the sidebar has active widgets in Appearance > Widgets.

did all of this, still no sidebars, I even disabled plugins.
There is a disconnect with the blog, I have the blog page as the home page – not a static page, I couldn’t get the static page with the “Home” template to look like it does in the demo, could this be the issue. Can you take a look? http://nutterz.com/ttdw/blog/
Ok, I think removing the Options Framework plugin fixed my issue. Thanks for nothing LOL – just kidding, I appreciate your time. Funny how things fix themselves after you ask for help.
The theme is made specifically to work with Options Framework so if there are problems while it is activated, something’s wrong.
Make sure WordPress and Options Framework are both running the latest version in Updates. If not, update them.
the contact form isn’t working out of the box, any help would be appreciated.
Please make sure that your contact page has the [contact_form] shortcode placed in the content. Also make sure the Contact page template is used for that page and that Appearance > Theme Options > Contact has contacts filled in.

I did add a contact to the theme options.

Ok, I removed the Options Framework plugin and the contact form seems fine. But do i need that plugin?
Options Framework powers the “Theme Options” area that you enter the contacts into—it’s necessary and shouldn’t interfere with the contact form’s ability to function.
Please make sure the contacts were entered in the correct format. The format is show next to the contacts field in Theme Options and in the documentation.

everything was fine until I upgraded wordpress, then I got this Error: Provide at least one contact in Theme Options. I have the address in there exactly like it says. There’s a bug in this installation of wordpress perhaps – could you look at it?

is it possible to sync the events to a google calendar? (sorry to ask here… didnt see this in the FAQ’s)
There is no integration with Google Calendar. You may want to consider a dedicated events plugin that has more advanced features like that. Timely All in One is one that comes to mind. There are others in the WordPress plugin directory: http://wordpress.org/plugins/

Great theme! It’s working well for us. We saw that update 2.0 should be coming soon and look forward to it.
In the meantime, we’ve tried using plugins for recurring events, but events from plugins have not appeared on our upcoming events page.
Any suggestions on plugins that are best compatible with Risen or how soon 2.0 will be available?
You would need to use a plugin in lieu for Risen’s events features. The plugin and Risen’s upcoming events template will do not integrate. If a plugin’s events are not showing, check the documentation or support for that plugin to find out what it takes for the events to show.
There is no release date for Risen 2.0 that I can give but I am working on it now and this is currently my priority project now that http://churchthemes.com is online.

Is it possible to show a calendar with the events included?
Risen shows events in list format. If you want a table-based calendar you would need to use an events plugin such as Timely’s All in One Events Calendar. There are others at http://wordpress.org/plugins/
Can for example Timely’s All in One Event synchronize with all the list of events or I will need to re-enter all the events separately on the calendar?
You would use a third-party events plugin in lieu of Risen’s events. They are not made to work together.

I have theme installed which is working fine. I came a across a nice plugin on CodeCanyon

You are free to try any plugin but note that I cannot guarantee any particular plugin will work as expected with the theme. Risen and this plugin were not made specifically for each other. You would be using the plugin’s event features in lieu of Risen’s events. They will not integrate in any way.
With that said, most well-coded plugins and themes will work together without conflict, although you may need to do some custom styling to make them match.
Hi just bought your theme, ive created a new page called Home. How do i make this be the same as the main home page (the one with the slider etc) ? thanks Rob
Go to Settings > Reading and make sure “Front page shows” is set to “Latest posts”. This will cause the default homepage to show, with slider, home boxes, etc. Save even if this setting is already shown.
You can create a regular page to use as the homepage but it will not have the slider, home boxes, etc. Those only work with the default homepage.

Hi Steven, thank you for the speedy reply. I understand what you have said above and have done that. However we really want a ‘Home’ tab as well (That takes you to the default home page) to make navigation clear to our audience.
How have you managed to get that to work on the live preview ?
You can create a link to the homepage or any URL. Use the “Links” box on the left side of Appearance > Menus and enter yourname.com as the URL.

WordPress has a search widget that you can add to any sidebar. You can use it by going to Appearance > Widgets.
I purchased this theme – am I legally allowed to use the photos you have used in the preview, such as the header images? If not, could you please tell me where I can purchase the map and pin image on the contact page? Thanks!
The photos seen in the demo are not included with Risen (with the exception of background images) since they are licensed only for our demo site.
If there are any in the demo you like in particular, let me know, and I’ll get you URLs to where you can obtain your own license. They came from www.creationswap.com, www.istockphoto.com and www.photodune.net.

How do I remove the page header on the side of the web page?
Do you mean the headings on the widgets in the sidebar? If so you can leave a widget’s title blank.
Otherwise, please provide me with more details about what you want to remove (send a URL and tell me what the header says so I can identify it).
Ive added a staff post to the theme and i can see that its appeared on my contact page as a thumbnail pic of the person with the words name, title and ‘read bio’ under that. So far so good.
When i click on the ‘read bio’ link it just takes me back to the home page every time. How do i make this link take you to the staff page for that person? I cant seem to edit the permalink for the staff post either? Any ideas?
Further to the above the permalink it has created is this http://maxwellpcc.org/?risen_staff=june – however whenever i click it the link just takes me to the sites home page?
What is the URL to your staff page? I couldn’t find it on the site.
That can happen if there is no page using the Staff template.

We have RISEN installed on Godaddy hosting with Wordpress 3.7.1
When I go to the MEDIA FILES I can see all of my pics here: http://www.xxxxxxx.org/wp-admin/upload.php but when I go to a PAGE, GALLERY, SLIDESHOW, NEWSLETTER, POST, or STAFF… I don’t have the ability to see any of the uploaded pics, pdfs, mp3, or video or if I upload a new file, it won’t appear. How do I fix this? I have removed all plugins and get the same problem on the default twenty ten template too.
Are you uploading via WordPress or manually via FTP?

Yes, edit the title of the Sermons page to change what appears as the header for the sermons section. Also go to Appearance > Theme Options if you want to change “sermon” and “sermons” everywhere on the website.

How do I add another template that would show up under Page Attributes > Templates?
I have a parent page called “About Us” and 5 child pages underneath it. I want to add a custom menu to the sidebar of only the pages in the “About Us” section. In order to do that, I’m guessing I have to make a new page template and add the custom menu widget to only these pages. The problem is I can’t figure out how to get a custom page template to appear in Page Attributes > Templates so I can apply it to these pages.
