First off, fantastic theme….great work.
I was wondering how difficult it is to update the CSS colour scheme and other elements of the theme. Does it support child themes etc for this purpose.
If you know your way around CSS, then it’s really easy. Yes, the theme even includes a child theme and you can also use the theme’s place for custom CSS code if you only have little.
Please note that support is not given for CSS customizations though. You need to know what you’re doing
Awesome theme! Clean and professional.Good luck with sales.
Hi Ruben.. Quick question… How easy is it to make the header transparent?
It’s just a matter of a single line of CSS. I can help if you post a ticket on the support forums after your purchase.
However, i don’t see how would this work with a sticky header, because you will get text overlapping the menu, since everything below the header will be seen. But i can help
Thanks Ruben… We’re looking at making the header a transparent grey so we should hopefully be ok with the text…
Yeah, i can help with that..
Regarding the discussion about styled mobile menus, I vote for styled menus. They do look better in my opinion, and they generally work well too. I love everything else about this theme, and would probably purchase it if it had styled mobile menus.
Just wanted to put in my vote.
Thanks for your suggestion. However, in my opinion, styled menus on mobile phones is a such small reason for deciding over a theme. And for the end user, the experience is much more friendly with the device’s standard navigation form.
But you’re totally right, what a person likes, the other could dislike.
Thanks for the reply.
While it might seem like a small feature, it’s very important in my opinion. Part of a beautiful theme is often attention to detail…having the look and feel of the theme everywhere. In my opinion, a native menu stands out like a sore thumb. Instead of styled colors, fonts, bullets and indents, you have the OS’ font and things like ”—” instead of bullets.
And the experience is actually more friendly on styled menus. For example, on some other themes with styled menus, the user taps the menu button, and presses the name of the desired page. With the default menu, you press the menu button, scroll to (or otherwise select) the desired page, and press “Done”. That’s more steps.
I’m not alone. Some other themes have had styled mobile menus added as a result of people like me who think the feature is important. Small or not, it’s a must-have feature for me.
I’ll be quiet now. I just wanted to share these thoughts.
Thanks for your enlightening insight! Will definitely take this into consideration after your reply
Cyrillic fonts? And estli opportunity to make their Cyrillic? Is a video slider?
With a bit of custom work you can use cyrilic fonts. If there is none from the Google Fonts, you can insert your own fonts. See page 35 from the manual for more details: http://demo.krownthemes.com/help/shadow-manual.pdf
About video sliders, no, there isn’t any video sliders, but you can put multiple videos on the same page though.
great elegant design !
The theme uses WooCommerce for the shop, so it’s how the plugin works. It doesn’t have anything to do with the theme – the theme only offers basic styling for it.
And no, WooCommerce doesn’t allow you to use videos instead of galleries or go without the add-to-cart button. No theme based on the plugin could do this without custom work.
But you could hire someone to do these tweaks for you. To use a video you just need to modify the proper page template in order to allow this, and also create a custom input in the backend to allow you to insert the video. The same goes for the button, it only needs a bit of custom work.
I see, Ive just had a look to your great portfolio item layout, and since i dont need the add to cart button, why not totally discart woocommerce.
May be the protfolio layout could be used to display products.
I would then add a button in the description to redirect the user to the purchase site.
Yes, you could also work with the portfolio layout if you wish. The portfolio items allow total customization, so you could not use the sliders, and simply use videos, like in this example: http://demo.krownthemes.com/shadow/portfolio/self-hosted-video/?id=27
Of course you can put the video in a 1/2 column and your description into another column, or whatever you want (you can use rich content so you can easily build your own layout with the Visual Composer).
About the heart, i am afraid that it’s not customizable. You would either need some custom work, or you could hire it completely and use a third party plugin for the job.
About the header, the breadcrumbs and page title can easily be hidden (there’s an option to do this for every page). Just like you can see here: http://demo.krownthemes.com/shadow/about/
However, the portfolio projects will take a basic header such as you see in the theme preview. You will still get breadcrumbs and page title in the inner portfolio items. But, this is also easily customizable via a child theme (functions are properly created for this purpose), so with a bit of custom work you could change the header of the inner portfolio pages easily.
Reference not only to facebook? but on and on http://vk.com/ You can do that? http://prntscr.com/34b7kk
Only with custom work. The function is wrapped in a child theme, so if you hire someone, you’ll get it done in no-time.
i lile your theme very much!
i have a problem mit with the mobile menu… i don’t get this three lines… it just turns in a dropdown. did i miss something? i read your manual but i couldn’t find nothing about.
i understand your point of view with the mobile navigation. but on the computer it looks really not good if you have a small window.
Thanks for purchasing the theme!
I am not quite sure what you mean.. Yes, the menu transforms into a dropdown. Please send me a link so i can see exactly what’s the issue. You might have some conflicts somewhere.
If you have any other issues with the theme, please post on the support forums: http://rubenbristian.ticksy.com
Hey, first of all: Sorry for my bad english and nice theme!
My question: How can i change the order of the portfolio filter buttons? By default it shows in alphabetical order I guess but that’s not ideal. :-/
Thanks in advance!
You can only change this with some custom work, tweaking the shortcode. However, the shortcode allows you to put categories which you want (there are explanations about this when creating the portfolio). So you could simply write the names of all of your categories in the order you want. This will make the categories output as you write it in there.
Otherwise, the file that controls this is /includes/extend-vc/shortcodes.php.
Hey! Thank you for the fast response. Writing the categories in the order I want should do the trick!
Another question: Is it possible to use Masonry Layout as a Portfolio Grid Style? In which file should I change some code or is it possible via the visual composer / a shortcode / custom CSS?
Thank you very much!!!
Well, you would need to do heavy custom work for this, since the images are resized to a certain size. Please read page 39 of the manual (section 5.3.3) to understand how to modify the PHP size of the thumbs. From that point on, it’s a mixture of custom CSS in the shortcodes files & also the scripts.
Thank you! I already understand how to change the sizes of the thumbnails and I’ve done it successfully.
My problem is to figure out where to start with the custom CSS/Codes…
Can you help with some custom things or something?
Or is there a plan to integrate masonry look for portfolio in a next update?
Thank you very much for your fast responses. I really appreciate it!!
No, i don’t have any plans to integrate masonry, since masonry is only for the blog. The portfolio has it’s own concept, with images that have the same size.
Unfortunately i don’t offer assistance for custom requests, as written and explained in my support terms here: http://rubenbristian.ticksy.com
OK, thank you for the infos! I’ll try my best…
I tried to change the background color in the Icon Texb Block style #2. It does not seem to work. Colors are not changing.
It seems that there is a bug in the theme regarding icon colors. I will fix this in version 1.1.1 which i’ll launch today (today or tomorrow you should be able to update the theme and get this fixed).
Ruben, it would also be nice if there is an option to change color settings of the menu and sub menu, and the footer background. Cheers, Arno
Post a public ticket on the support forum. I’ll give you a custom CSS starting point
Howdy! Nice theme! Quick question, any future plans on making this bbpress ready?
Hi. At the moment i don’t have any plans for bbpress integration in the near future.
Great theme, I love it. Just one question, in the manual you recomend the permalinks structure category/postname, why? is it important for the properly working of the theme. I ask you because I have other structure and I would like to keep it.
Thank you in advance!
I recommend it just because it looks and functions better than the regular one with question marks. But it is not important for the theme to work properly, so you can use whatever you want.
If you have other issues regarding the theme, please post on the support forums: http://rubenbristian.ticksy.com
I have a problem with displaying posts in grid format: in my home page I’ve inserted the element “Posts Grid” as Masonry Layout, but if I browse the site with Safari I see the post partially overlapped.
How can I solve this problem?
I really need to have the site all right on Safari too.
thanks in advance!
Please post a ticket on the support forums and send me a link so i can also take a look: http://rubenbristian.ticksy.com
Hey everyone! I’ve just made an update!
Awesome theme. Quick questions:
1. Is this theme WPML ready for translation?
2. And can the portfolio items have nice permalinks instead of ?id=xyz?
3. Is the Page builder the Visual Composer Plugin?
While checking out the demo I found 2 small bugs:
1. The Info Boxes do not have a close button (typically a small x)
2. The audio player does not look right in Chrome. See here; http://cl.ly/image/2s180J1x021e
1. Yes, the theme is WPML ready.
2. The portfolio items use pretty permalinks. Please watch closer to understand. That ?id, is not the id of the portfolio item, but the id of the portfolio page. It is needed for the unlimited portfolios feature. If you only need one portfolio page, they will not show up. It’s only when you have multiple portfolios that those things append to the pretty permalinks.
3. Yes, the Visual Composer is bundled for free in this theme. Most of the original shortcodes were included (not all) and even more custom ones, but everything which you see online can be achieve through the builder.
About the bugs:
1. Not really a bug, none of my themes have that “x” button for message boxes. It’s not required in my opinion, so i’m not sure if i’ll ever do it that way.
2. I have checked and rechecked the theme and i haven’t found such bug. What Chrome are you using and what OS? Where exactly do you see the error? Have you tried on other environments?
1.) thanks I saw that after reading the whole theme description.
2.) Then I will have to change that. I guess a simple has-Archive will do the trick.
1.) Could you include a full-screen option for the sections? I have no idea if the theme does have that already but I couldn’t find it. Something like this: http://bit.ly/1pKRkJV
Here you have the option to make a section (and so all its content) FULL SCREEN not just full width. So the section will span the full width and the full height of the browsers viewport.
If the theme does have that already, even better.
2.) Could you add Toggles in addition to the Accordions?
Thanks in advance.
About the media bug, i am around 99% sure that this is an error with your machine. I have never heard of that error and tested the theme both on Mac and PC. Please retest on various other machines and see, because it might definitely be an isolated case.
About the other questions:
1. Only possible for sliders. See here: http://demo.krownthemes.com/shadow/home-v4-corporate/
2. The accordion can be switched to function like a toggle.
I’ve purchased this theme with another account and I should say is one of the best themes I’ve seen.
Well coded, documented and designed. Great work, Ruben!
Thanks for your great feedback!
I try to improve my coding with every new theme. As for the documentation, i have never written a manual so in depth!
@RubenBristian I just wanted to say Great Job. If I haven’t already purchased several others themes I havent used yet for particular projects. I would purchase yours. I have saved for my favorites so I can return to a later date.
I am super impressed with your documentiion and the simplicity you bring to working with your theme. Keep up the great work. I wish other developers would take note & pursuit on how theme documention /instruction. Should be done: http://demo.krownthemes.com/help/shadow-manual.pdf
Thanks for your great feedback! I’m glad that you like the documentation and the theme. If you’ll ever have a project for this theme, don’t hesitate purchasing
Your welcome and certainly keep your themes as one of my go to authors.
Nice theme, client loves it, so now trying to get it to work.
I am currently having a problem saving any change in Appearance > Customise.
I am using Google Chrome latest (Version 33.0.1750.152) and cannot seem to change the colour from red to blue for example or load a logo. can you please help? I notice someone tried to change a background and you fixed a bug, hoping you can quickly fix this one too if a bug of some sort.
I will answer to your ticket on the support forums. Please keep the discussion in one place only
Where are in demo version list of buttons classes? For example krown-icon-book-1 or krown-icon-bucket?
The buttons are created using the Visual Composer plugin. When creating a button you’ll see a big list of icons from where to choose. Please use it in creating buttons.
A list of classes can also be found here: http://demo.krownthemes.com/help/krown-shortcodes-fonts/
If you have other questions or issues regarding the theme, please post a ticket on the support forums: http://rubenbristian.ticksy.com
Thank you for your answer. Best regards, Eve
How can I add my own icon to the list? Best regards,Eve
You need to know how to edit fontello and do custom HTML/CSS/PHP to the theme. Custom requests are not part of the support, you can read the support terms on the dedicated forums and if you have more questions, please post them there:
I really like this theme, but I got one question. All the titles and the text is align in the center. Is it possible to align titles en text boxes left or right? And can I get an 50% textbox aligned left and an image 50% aligned right?
Thanks for your comments!
Of course this is possible. See how the titles are here: http://demo.krownthemes.com/shadow/about/
About text boxes, that can be achieved with simple CSS (i can help with this after you purchase if you post a public ticket on the support forums).
About the last question, of course, you can align things that can be aligned (as text & images) however you wish.
