Funny. Re twitter widget failing to update – of course its not because I havent tweeted!
No error messages just stuck on an old tweet!
Well, that’s my initial suggestion because 95% of the time it’s for exactly that reason!
EDIT : I see from your other reply that clearing your browser cache solved the issue.
Any idea why the slider short codes might not work? Have tried both types, multiple configurations, but just get a blank space where the slider should be. Image paths are correct. Any feedback you may have is appreciated.
Can you send me a link to your website so I can take a look?
Thank you for a very well thought out theme.
I would like to use the left aligned menu and was wondering if there is a quick CSS modification that would extend the menu vertically, so that it always aligns with the main content container on the right.
edit: I see you’ve resolved this issue.
Please disregard that last question, as I have found a way to work with the existing menu placement.
One other question tho: I notice that when you click on a gallery item with the “clickthrough” option enabled, the sub-menu navigation structure closes when you are taken to the gallery item page.
Is it possible to leave that navigation menu open, at the place where the gallery image was first accessed?
Thank you again.
Good question! The answer is – unfortunately not. It would have been great to do this but the gallery items aren’t technically pages – they’re a custom post type and Wordpress doesn’t know their relationship with actual pages.
I just bought your template, and was trying to insert a image slider into a page.
Please see: http://ngideas.com/photography
I just copied and pasted your code into this page.
It didn’t show up any images. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong?
Yes, what you’ve got won’t work.
A slider shortcode should look something like this:
[slider images="http://www.webdesignpeople.net/tf/wp-sidelined/wp-content/themes/sidelined/images/slider-1.jpg, http://www.webdesignpeople.net/tf/wp-sidelined/wp-content/themes/sidelined/images/slider-2.jpg"]
Bear in mind the images must be on your server. I can’t see exactly what you’ve done wrong though. If you want me to set up an example for you please email me via the form on our TF homepage, including your Wordpress login details, and I’ll set one up for you.
Hello, I just purchased this theme and when I try to run a preview on it or activate it, I’m getting the following error. I successfully installed other themes on this site without problem, so I’m not sure if it’s specific to this theme. Thanks in advance.
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_OBJECT_OPERATOR in /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/makisu-sushi.com/httpdocs/wickerpark/wp-content/themes/sidelined/includes/shortcodes.php on line 152
Can you confirm which version of PHP your server is running? You need PHP v5. The only time I’ve seen this happening in the past is on PHP v4 servers.
Your host should be able to provide this information for you and, if you are on PHP4 , switch you over to v5.
For some reason a grey box appears around my gallery, I can’t figure out what’s causing this
Nevermind! I figured it out…I was placing the code in the ‘visual’ window rather than the ‘html’ window!
Ok new problem…this is driving me absolutely insane…the gallery doesn’t show up in google chrome? seems to work fine in other browsers like IE, and firefox…help!!
Sorry for the delayed reply. Can you send me an email via our TF homepage (http://themeforest.net/user/webdesignpeople) including your site URL and Wordpress access details so I can take a look?
Edit: if Webkit browsers like Chrome/Safari are the issue, then I bet you’ve not included the imageheight property in your shortcode. Have a look in the documentation which explains why you need to set this.
I’m trying to use this great theme in localhost but gallery and slider is not working, the shortcode doesn’t show anything
I tried in a “real” server and it works good…
there’s something special to fix in localserver to get full funtionality of this theme?
No there isn’t, in fact I developed the theme locally. Are you using a different version of PHP ? It needs PHPv5. If you look through the rendered markup, can you open a gallery/slider image src in your browser? Do you get an error message?
yeah,,is something related to php version.. i’m checking out
hey there, i can’t seem to get the colorbox pop-up working. i did a fresh install so it’s not a plugin conflict. so then, i installed lightbox plus plugin to get around it but i think there are some conflicts because image ligthbox acts strange.
so i just need to get one of them working. it’s probably easiest to disable the colorbox that’s built into sideline rather than try to troubleshoot it. where/how can i do that?
Well, Colorbox is pretty robust and this is the first time someone’s had an issue with it. It might be easier for me to look at your site rather than for you to try and uninstall it. What’s your site URL ?
in wich file I need to put the php code “edit_post_link” to show the link to edit posts and pages?
You’d put this in home.php, index.php and page.php.
Is there a way to re-order the items in a [showgallery] list of thumbnails? It seems to be pulling in based on creation date (db record)?
You can use these attributes and values to set the order in the [showgallery] shortcode:
So to order by title in descending order, you’d use:
[showgallery orderby=’title’ order=’desc’... ]
Let me know if you can’t get that working and I’ll take a look.
Some single images pages are not displaying the large single image… like: http://voornas.com/test/gallery/tv-samples-2/el-pollo-loco-pool/ . You discovered that the shortcode doesnt like hyphens and they may have been causing the single images pages not to show the images —so I replaced all hyphens in tags with underscores - it worked on some but not on others.
Also, some single image pages are displaying the thumbnail size image, instead of the large display image, like this one: http://voornas.com/test/gallery/tv-samples-2/chase-tv/
I’m on holiday now until 17th January. Thanks for your patience with support enquiries.
I just purchased your theme and I think it’s really nice and simple, perfect for what I need.
I am wondering if you have provided an install of your demo version so that I can install all of the files and see how you’ve set it up and gotten it working. I’m having some trouble figuring out how to use the galleries, etc, and I’d like to preview yours to get a better understanding of how it works.
I think we’ve got everything covered via our email conversation, just send me another email if you still need help.
Your information says the theme can also have a vertical menu.
For this vertical menu how do the sub menu items display? on a flyout menu or as a slide down?
Thanks for your help.
It works like this when left aligned:
Hi there – Great theme
I’m going to use it for a website where the client is an avid blogger, so it’s very important to her the detail of the blog section – is there any chance of getting a screenshot of how the comments form looks please.
You can see a demo page with nested comments here:
First off, love the theme.
However: I am pulling my hair out trying to get the “featurelist” shortcodes to work.
[featurelist grid="grid_6" type="first" list="cross"] <li>thing 1</li><li>thing 2</li> [/featurelist]
[featurelist grid="grid_6" type="last" list="ticks"] <li>thing 1</li><li>thing 2</li> [/featurelist]
I cannot get the special characters to appear no matter what I do – have tried multiple pages, eliminating some variables in the shortcode, doing single and side-by-side, using ul, li, and ol tags – everything I can think of. All I ever get is a regular unordered list – no crosses or ticks.
One example (single list on right):
Another example (side-by-side):
Don’t pull your hair out
Wrap your list with the featurelist shortcode, like so:
[featurelist grid="grid_6" type="first"]
<li>Another list item</li>
If it’s still not working, send an email via the contact form on our TF homepage – http://themeforest.net/user/webdesignpeople – including your Wordpress login details and I’ll set up a demo for you.
hi, cool theme!
i’m planning on having more subpages, is it possible to have them in a third row, automatically after a certain amount?
If you’re using the static menu option then sub items should naturally flow onto a third line.
