Hi, We are having a lot of issues with poor page load times and it appears that the SoulMedic design theme is the main issue. I have attached screen shots of the latest Pingdom web speed test for your review: /Users/KerriDougan/Desktop/Screen Shot 2016-09-21 at 4.25.59 pm.png /Users/KerriDougan/Desktop/Screen Shot 2016-09-21 at 4.26.44 pm.png /Users/KerriDougan/Desktop/Screen Shot 2016-09-21 at 4.28.42 pm.png /Users/KerriDougan/Desktop/Screen Shot 2016-09-21 at 4.28.56 pm.png /Users/KerriDougan/Desktop/Screen Shot 2016-09-21 at 4.30.33 pm.png /Users/KerriDougan/Desktop/Screen Shot 2016-09-21 at 4.30.54 pm.png

There seems to be a ‘Specify a Vary: Accept-Encoding header’ issue for a number of design theme items, how can this be corrected?

What other ways can the page load speed be improved significantly, without having to remove functionality or downgraded presentation? I’m not a coder so please consider that in your reply.

Also note I have deactivated a number of the plugins on my dashboard (ie Contact form 7 etc) but they still appear on the page load time report.

Your swift assistance and guidance with this issue would be greatly appreciated (note I purchased 1 year support when I purchased your theme).

Kind regards, Kerri

Hi Kerri,

Please ensure that you have the ”.htaccess” file, into the folder where your wp theme (site) has been located (like “public_html/.htaccess”).

Then, please consider adding the following lines of code to the .htaccess file., <IfModule mod_headers.c> <FilesMatch "\.(js|css|xml|gz)$"> Header append Vary: Accept-Encoding </FilesMatch> </IfModule>

Thank you for your response, I will try that. I have had some success changing the cache setting in the W3 Total Cache plugin as per your suggestions (iii).

You also mentioned to optimise all the images I have used on the site. I did that when I first set up the site through tinyjpg.com … is there a better way to optimise the images? A better online tool you could suggest?

Finally, I keep getting issues with using the Revolution Slider ie ‘Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content’. I have also copied the latest page speed analysis below ….

Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content Your page has 10 blocking script resources and 4 blocking CSS resources. This causes a delay in rendering your page.

None of the above-the-fold content on your page could be rendered without waiting for the following resources to load. Try to defer or asynchronously load blocking resources, or inline the critical portions of those resources directly in the HTML.

Remove render-blocking JavaScript:

I love the Revolution slider feature, it was one of the main reasons I purchased the SoulMedic theme. Is there a way eliminate these issues without getting rid of the Revolution Slider feature. A better way for it to load??

Your assistance with these issues is greatly appreciated.

Kind regards, Kerri

Hi.,

1) For optimizing the images, please try some plugins which does that functionality.

2) Try to re-install the revolution slider plugin and check the issue once.

3) Regarding the other analysis, we will consider it in our future updates.

Hi kerridougan,

please refer this link http://digiztal.blogspot.in/2014/05/how-to-specify-vary-accept-encoding.html

and Try these options.

i) Remove the unwanted images, plugins, etc.

ii) Optimize all the images that you have used in the theme.

iii) Use some cache plugins like wp super cache.

iv) Get a good hosting server for your website.
