Hi I tried to update the theme from version 1.0.3 to version 1.0.9 but it gave the following “PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function cmsmasters_theme_google_font() in /public_html/wp-content/plugins/cmsmasters-content-composer/inc/shortcodes.php” error. What needs to be done in this case?

There are no known issues with the current theme version functioning – please make sure to use 1.0.9 theme version, it functions correctly.
To update the theme download the zip-archive with the theme on your computer, unzip it and upload the new theme version on your server (please make sure there are no nested folders such as start-it/start-it). I recommend you to rename the theme version you used previously (for example name the theme folder “start-it-old”), in such a case this theme version will be backed up at your server.
Besides don’t forget to update plugins as it is noted on the WordPress admin panel after the theme is updated.
Sometimes there is also a need to deactivate the theme and activate it again to make all changes that were implemented function correctly.
Please note that you might need to clear your browser’s cache in order to see the changes.
Another way is to update the theme automatically. To update the theme automatically you should use the Envato Market plugin. After activating the plugin, click on the “Envato Market” icon from the left sidebar. To generate your Global OAuth Personal Token click on this link https://account.envato.com/sign_in?to=envato-api and login using your Envato Market login details. Please copy & paste your unique token into the Envato settings inside your WordPress dashboard and click on “Save Changes”. Once you have configured this properly, you will see a screen where you can install or update your already purchased plugins & themes.
Please note that in case you modified the theme files (theme code) and update the theme via Envato Market plugin changes that you implemented will be lost because new theme version will overwrite the theme version you use at the moment.

As we can see from the error you mentioned you tried to install the whole archive downloaded from Themeforest (with documentation, demo content, etc.) and it isn’t the proper way of the theme installation.
The theme documentation contains rather detailed instructions concerning theme installation – please look through it. The theme documentation can be found at the DOCS folder you downloaded from the Themeforest together with the theme archive (open index.html file in any browser).

In fact the easiest way to make your site look like our demo one is to import demo content. The theme comes with a .xml file that allows you to import all the pages and posts like they are on the demo site. You can find this file in the Demo content folder you downloaded from the Themeforest.
Please note, that all the images are not included and are substituted with placeholders, as according to our license we can’t redistribute them. Please install the WordPress importer plugin, then proceed to the Tools-Import-WordPress, upload file and import. You’ll need to import the Content itself and the theme settings.
The sliders are imported separately, so you need to install the slider plugin and import the slider sample file. The theme comes with a demo slider content import file. After you import it, you will have the same slider as we have on our demo, except that the background images will be absent and you will need to add your own instead. Our license does not allow us add background images to the download package, but all the other slider elements and settings, including timings will be imported.

3. Please make sure that you add the email address to the Contact form shortcode settings while editing the page with the form.
Don’t forget to add all the fields you used to your Message Composer, as shown on the example screenshot. Just click on all the fields you used save changes. Then message received when contact form is submitted, will include the entered information.
In a case the issue remains actual please contact your hosting provider to find out if the mailing option functions properly for your site. If the mailing option is turned on and functions correctly we kindly advise you to use Contact Form 7 plugin. Our Contact Form uses POP3 or SMTP protocol and the plugin we mentioned – another protocol of sending messages. Some servers do not support our protocol of sending, that’s why we recommend you an external plugin, which is surely compatible with the theme.

The font in the Quotes shortcode can be changed via custom css code, you can add it on the page using Custom CSS shortcode or to the Theme Settings – Elements – Custom codes tab:
