I love your theme! I’ve built an awesome website from it, but I can’t seem to upgrade it because of my code. I purchased your theme about 2 years ago but you should have my e-mail on file to prove that I bought it.
Who can I contact to verify all my info so I can download your update? Thanks!
When one has an old version of Striking, which does not have the modern internal update utility, then the only way of updating is to download Striking again from within your account – which you are entitled to free, and then install the current striking package by ftp.
I would also suggest that you carefully review the current version thread at the Striking Support Forum – it has step by step instructions. The forum link is in the FAQ tab above. If you need further help, register at the forum and ask any questions you require, and indicate in the first you cross posted from Themeforest per my request.
Thank you for your love of Striking – as we always say, Striking will love you back! And you are in for a treat, as Striking has added huge array of features and abilities over at least 45 updates if your initial purchase was approx Jan 2011. Very few themes from that time period are still current – typically they are abandoned after 6 months to a year – so you made the right call to go Striking!
If you get lost either before or after, just ask for help on the forum.
when leaving the responsive version? =D
See my answers below. We are finished the main work, and doing the ancillary stuff. The extra days of testing will not hurt either of course.
For the past few days I’ve been looking for a theme to build a new website and Striking seems to fit well. Since I am looking to get the site live within the next week or two I want to make sure I get it started right.
I saw in the comments that you are planning a responsive version of Striking. I tried looking back a number of pages but I can’t seem to find a clear answer to the question of if people will be able to upgrade from Striking to Striking R for no extra cost. I don’t have an issue waiting for Striking R if need be, but since the previous pages have you saying Striking R will be out in about one week over and over again it seems possible the release won’t be for another month or more if the beta testing is extended.
So please tell me, if I were to buy Striking now would I get a free upgrade to Striking R when it is released? I know you have said that Themeforest may not allow you to update this page to the responsive version so you weren’t sure how the upgrade would be done. Do you know now? Have you worked out how the change from Striking to Striking R will work on Themeforest? I just want a clear answer to let me know that if I start building my site over the next week or two and then Striking R is released whether or not I will be able to change over without paying another $50-60.
Thanks for your time.
We are deprecating Striking Non-Responsive – the current iteration being Ver 126.96.36.199, and substituting Striking Responsive Ver 1.0, in its place, as the theme that will be here under the Striking name.
Striking Responsive Version 1.0 is complete now in terms of core work. We still have updating of the help fields to finish, build a new demo, and other misc tasks. I estimate about 5 – 7 days left of work. It goes by quick or slow simply depending on the amount of support we provide daily to our user base. We have a large customer base, and as our users can attest, we place a priority on customer service.
Were TF for some reason to have an issue, and we cannot imagine what it would be, then we would continue with Striking NR here, and release our responsive version (which is entirely new code) to our user base for free, via our support forum. We never mistreat our users – at least not deliberately!
Thank you for your interest in Striking.
Before buying Striking I have 4 questions :
1- Same as previous : is Striking responsive now? if not will it be fast? For free?
2- Is the license price a ‘one shot’ or do I have to pay recursively?
3- How much sub menu levels is it possible to configure (Menu 1 -> 1.1 -> 1.1.1 -> 188.8.131.52 -> ...) ?
4- Is there a built-in possibility to rate published articles on some criteria ?
Thank you for your help,
I believe I knocked off both #1 and #2 in the above answer to AuronBlack. If not, just add to this comment thread of ours.
We coded for at least 4 levels of nav that I recall. In fact I think we coded for more, but who would abuse their site users like that LOL!
We do not have any internal feature for article rating – you would have to use a plugin for that.
I’m preparing a demo site for a client to aprove and I really want to use Striking, because it is the most flexible and amazing theme here in TF.
However, I really need this demo to be responsive. Any chance to get the beta version of striking responsive for this?
Please register at the forum and send me a personal message via its messaging ability. My forum handle is Websys – I write all the sticky threads on release versions, etc.
I’ll do it now.
Everyone should be aware that Joel, part of a design team in Portugal, and we have connected. And I believe I can say he is quite pleased as a result of the communication.
Great theme, I am very impressed at its ease of use and beautiful design, but I have one problem that I would really appreciate if you could help me with. My client wants an intro flash page….(i know, I know I tried for an hour to talk him out of it). But personal opinion aside, is there a way that this can be done? I tried first to design a page that was a custom blank template, then used a plug-in for adobe edge (which I used for the animation in place of flash), and I can get the page to work just fine if it is just an existing page on the website. If i try to assign that as the frontpage, then it comes up as a default template, putting the page as a very distorted slideshow with the default header. I don’t know how well I’m explaining this so I put together two pages on the website to demonstrate what I’m talking about
Front Page 1 : This is what I got after designing a custom template that was basically a general blank wordpress page. This is how I would like it to appear when someone first comes to the website, but this is only viewable like this as an existing page in the website. If I try to go to appearance /themes/customize/ then assign Front Page 1 as the home (static) page, then the result is a distorted version of the page that includes the default header. To better explain this, I took a screen shot of this and put it in a page called Front page 2 to better illustrate what I’m saying.
Is there anyway you can help me set the default home page to look the way it does under Front Page 1?
Thank you so much for your help,
I ask that you take your content above, and if you have not already done so, go to our support forum (the link is found in the FAQ tab above) and post there, and you will receive some assistance from our support team.
We do not provide user support at Themeforest. We use this comments only for prospective purchaser questions.
Slider is not working, can you please advice to my email email@example.com?
Although the support forum is the place to post for user related questions, I will quickly advise you to go to the Striking Advanced Panel, toggle the timthumb setting to OFF, toggle the clear cache setting to ON, and then save the panel. Then go to say your color panel, and just save it.
You have timthumb active, and you should not:
For any further help on this and all other matters please post on the support forum
Thank you for your quick responsive, i just disabled timthumb. But still no luck. Can you please take a look again?
Can you please go to the Striking support forum and post there, and we will render further assistance. Removing timthumb did help in one context – now in the source code the images are functioning. But I still see some scripting errors occurring on your site. You have a number of plugins running, and i think one of them is loading some faulty jquery, and is the cause of your problems.
Please hop onto the support forum. We will render further assistance there.
An answer would be nice…
I just answered above. Forgive us for the delay, but we usually only hop over here once every day or two, especially currently when we are both extremely busy on the forum, and attempting to work on the Responsive release.
As we do note in the FAQ tab above, as well as in the theme description in our blurb on support within it , we expect that all users would post on the Striking support forum, not here.
I understand. Sorry, but I was little impatient. Really need to close this deal Thanks a lot.
Hi, What is the font used for the headers in the demo?
Brilliant theme btw.
I don’t know if you searched the forum or already asked the question over at it – Paul is on the forum currently assisting users although I am hopping over shortly to help, it is in fact in the existing threads. It is the Cufon Segan font.
Thank you for your comments on Striking. I think as a user, you are likely already aware we have been busting our butts to keep Striking up to date and in splendid shape. The current release .9.5 has huge code changes which have made it even more optimized and speedier. We are pleased it is working for your needs.
Thanks for your quick response. I will use the forum in future.
Your welcome. Look forward to making your acquaintance on the forum.
Noticed the Striking theme price increased today from $50 to $55. Does this mean the responsive version is going to be released sometime today or is TF jumping the gun?
Actually, we are lucky in a way, as Striking apparently meets the requirements for the highest pricing category since the last pricing review several months ago, but has been priced at the standard premium price at the time as buyers are notoriously cheap. Were we sitting at the top tier price all alone, our sales would take a nosedive, despite the fact the pricing grid is based on the complexities of the theme and its code – so the more expensive it is, the better the theme.
Today it appears TF rebalanced the pricing on some themes in hopes that buyers would better understand that there is a significant diff between a $30-$40 basic theme, and each increment up. Every $5 represents an increment in theme complexity. The best value is in fact at the top end with underpriced themes such as Striking. But it is baby steps until the buyers understand the value equation. Of course, a themebuilder may voluntarily move their price up, as a couple have recently done – every seller has their own strategy. We have thought about allowing the move to the $65 mark and seeing what happens but an army of one is usually the first to die, irrespective of its merits.
I cannot say whether the price of Striking may be adjusted upwards by TF yet again once we sub in Striking R.
Striking R is not being released today. See my answer above. We are working on ancillary matters such as help, the demo, the TF demo site, and so on. It all takes time, and of course we have to first and foremost support our existing user base. I am hoping that if our user base can be kind enough to allow us 3-4 solid days of work without bombarding us with customization questions, then we can push out the door. 5-7 days if we continue to get as many questions as we go today lol (between pm’s, emails and forum questions we have over 200 to work through and the day is not over).
Thanks for your interest Brian.
Thanks James, I’ll be one of the first to purchase once Striking R is released.
I know this question was asked a while back but I don’t think you had a definitive answer at the time…will the initial release of Striking R be retina ready or will that come in a future update?
I have to get back to you on that.
I am gonna beat you to that !
Have a great day,
We actually have quite the lineup waiting for Striking R. You have lots of company! I need to stop answering questions and get to work! LOL
Such a powerfull theme as well the support is also 5 stars!
Amazing. Definitely a masterpiece of flexibility. Thx to the team to bring us Striking. A very (but very) happy user.
Thank you for your kind words about Striking features and ability. We are glad you are a “happy” user, that is what we strive for!
A while ago I bought your theme for a client and it works great! I have updated the theme to the newest version today, lots of new options, great job!
But I have a small question:
I use the contact widget in the footer and in the sidebar of the main content. The contact icons in the footer widget show as they should, but in the widget in the sidebar the icons are missing.
The text is shifted to the right as it should. I have changed it to different olors to try, but they still don’t show.
Maybe you can help me with this problem?
Thank you for your kind words about Striking.
I ask that you go to the forum, and create a thread about your matter, and include a url please. Without seeing the matter we can supply little help. As per our FAQ above, we provide user support only at the Striking support forum, and we answer prospective purchase questions here. It makes more sense, and allows us to focus our service efforts more efficiently.
One of our team members is Dutch, so you will likely find you get a very quick response.
To anyone thinking about buying this theme – you will not regret it!
I originally purchased Striking in June 2011. Since then I have purchased many themes, but none have come close to the features, ease of use, and cross-platform compatibility of Striking. Yesterday, for the first time in its use, I had an error that was preventing me from making updates to my website. I sent a message over at the support forum and in less than a day the problem was fixed, AND the problem was not even with the theme. My hosting provider had screwed up the update of Wordpress from 3.4 to 3.5 and James managed to both figure out the problem and fix it for me. That level of support is absolutely unheard of from anyone else.
So if you want a solid, well-designed theme with above and beyond support, know that you can’t go wrong with Striking.
Thank you for your very kind comments. We aim to please in respect of both the core theme components and in service. Glad this all worked out to your satisfaction.
I am going to wait for the mobile version. One question that’s important to me. I do live video streaming for clients directly to my site. And whatI have to have is a blank page that I can customize for a client on the day of their live event. The page needs to have the clients branding on it.
Will that be possible with this template?
Currently, one would have to disable the various page elements in order to achieve what you wish. We do have a custom page template supplied by one of our users that is on the forum, that has been extensively used by the Striking Community (thanks Burt Gordon!).
In Striking R, we are going to be including a landing page template so that you can achieve exactly as you desire. Your site logo would still appear by default, but it can be removed easily with custom css. I will give some thought to making the logo loading optional.
What is the release date for the next version with responsive?
I need to know for a friend who wants to buy to make your site responsive, if we wait or buy another.
If they already own Striking, they can contact me, and I can include them in the testing group with a beta package, which would allow them to get started. Otherwise they will have to wait. You will see in some posts above, I am estimating within 5-10 days. We actually have the core functions complete, it is now that we are in the ancillary stages – building out the help fields within the theme, help videos, new demo install package, new demo site to replace the current one you see, and new sales page for here at TF, etc – it all takes time regretfully.
How can I make a video slideshow in wordpress 3.5???
Ask questions -> at the Support Forum!! And will get answers!!
(PS – its the same as the way in every previous version of WP – using the help fields in the Slider Options Metabox when creating a slider image will help you)
I have weird grey lines (www.taikuriristiharju.com), almost as shadows, that have appeared underneath the slider and above the footer on firefox since the last update. They are not visible on Internet Explorer. Any idea what causes em? Cant seem to get rid off em.
Please hop over to our Striking Support Forum and we will assist you with your questions and issue.
As an aside, I hopped over to your site in firefox and chrome, and did not see them, but I did notice that you have timthumb active, and you should have it turned off. It may or may not be contributing to the issue you are seeing. Also please be certain to both clear the Striking cache via the setting in the Advanced Panel, and clear your browser caches – I suggest you utilize a program like Ccleaner – free at download.com.
So please go to our forum, post your question, and we will assist you in getting your matters on track.
Just bought Striking Theme and registered on kaptinlin forum. I’m looking an index of video tutorials to begin installing and using the theme. Is there an index? Thanks. Don
Thank you for purchasing Striking. We currently have the videos listed in threads at the forum.
I ask that you register at our support forum, and then go to any one of the sticky threads found in the All Discussions category, click on my forum name (Websys) and follow the links to send me a personal message. I can then send you the links to the existing videos we have.
