The number of purchases is much bigger than the number of comments! :) So, congratulate you, pexeto, with the really awesome work :)

Thank you very much :)

I just purchased this theme, and I think it looks great ! But I can’t install it on wordpress, I get this message :

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_OBJECT_OPERATOR in /site/www/wp-content/themes/the-cotton-powerful-minimalistic-wordpress-theme/the_cotton_v1.0/lib/classes/pexeto-custom-data-manager.php on line 98

I don’t know much about websites, so I have no idea what I should do to make it work… Can you help me ?

Thanks for your time

First of all – I can see that the theme is not installed correctly – you have uploaded the whole zip file that you have downloaded and this is not correct, because this file contains not only the theme, but PhotoShop files, documentation, etc. You have to unzip the download zip file and there you should see the zipped theme and after that you can upload it from the Install Themes section of the admin panel. For more information please refer in the included documentation to the section “Activating the theme”.

Also, please make sure your server is running PHP 5 or higher, as this is the minimal requirement for the theme.

Hi there! I’m really impressed and amazed with your theme. Looks awesome. I only have one simple question before purchasing: Can you have diferent portfolio pages with different items on them without much hassle??

Thanx in advance and congrats for a great work!!

Thanks for the interest, I’m glad you like it :)

Yes, you can very easily create different portfolio pages with different portfolio items – this is a feature that the theme provides by default.

OK!! That’s just great!!

Thanx a lot for the quick reply .-)

Looks amazing… I really wanted to purchase… But, everytime I try to open on Google Chrome, my browser crashes… What’s the problem?

Thank you :)

I’m not sure why this happened – we have tested the theme with Chrome on several computers and this never happened to any of them. I think it may be related with your browser only or an add-on you have installed – if you want you can try from another computer.

Hello pexeto, I have sent you a private request, did you get it ?

Yes, I have just replied :)

Thanks, this helps a lot !

A very cool looking theme! I have a few questions:
  • Can I set the height of the main slider on the homepage?
  • Can transparent png images be used for the slider, allowing the background to show through?
  • Can I design my own custom homepage, for eg. with a slider within a column that doesn’t span the full width?
  • Can I add a background image or background header image?
  • Can the main heading be taken out or moved below the slider?
  • Are there shortcodes visual editor buttons?
  • Is there the ability to make column arrangements other than the 3 options you have in the demo such as fifths and sixths?

Thanks, I’m glad you like it :)

Generally, most of the things you need are too custom and would require some CSS changes. Some of them – such as changing the slider height, adding a custom background image and (re)moving the heading would be easier to accomplish, but the other ones may involve some more customizations.
Regarding the formatting buttons – these are not shortcodes, but much better – they include the final content right within the editor area and you can preview them right while editing. You can see a short presentation video here :)

hey pexeto,

i love this template! its gorgeous and functional.

my question for you is the following: i am currently putting together the portfolio section of my site. i am making it so that when you click on the thumbnail, it opens the content of the item. right now, when the page opens, it shows the default sidebar, but i would like it to be a sidebar in which i can type text into. is this possible to make? is it perhaps using the default sidebar because that is what my blog sidebar is set to?

thank you :)

Thanks, I’m glad you like the theme :)

Within the Cotton Options page, you can create an additional sidebar in the section General -> Sidebars and you can assign this new sidebar to the portfolio items in the section Pages -> Portfolio (the “Content sidebar”) field.

hi there,

thanks for your help. i tried it and it didnt work, but i posted my response on your support forum. here it is:

I have just posted my reply on the forum – I have provided a code change suggestion regarding what exactly you need – I hope this will be helpful :)

Very cool theme!

I’ve purchased it and have run into a question. I’ve added a Google font and selected it as my Headings Font Family. But for some reason, all of the headings look to be a forced italic version of the font selected. How do I fix that?

Beautiful, BEAUTIFUL theme! Looking forward to customizing this for our company website! Thank you.

Thanks a lot for the nice words, I hope you will enjoy working with it! :)

Great theme. people should really save the time to rate this 5stars

Thank you very much for your support, it is much appreciated! :)

Hey -

Im using the portfolio item widget that came with the theme, but the images dont link to the portfolio items. When clicked, they just reload the current page.

Am I missing something?

I have just noticed that there is a small issue in the plugin – we will fix it in the next update, however you can do it yourself – you just have to open the plugin’s file and replace line 218:

$openLink='<a href="'.$permalink.'">';</a>

with this line:

$openLink='<a href="'.get_permalink().'">';</a>

Hi Pexeto.

Nice and clean theme.

Is the theme video friendly? I usually write posts that includes video on it.

Thanks in advance for your support. :)

Thanks, I’m glad you like it :)

For video embed we recommend installing a dedicated video plugin, which would provide advanced functionality and buttons for easier embed, for example:

But for simple usage you can also use the embed video code to insert it within the content – all the major video sites provide it :)

Thank you very much for your help Pexeto!

I cannot log into the forum because I haven’t bought the template yet.

I had a few questions about how customization I could do with the home page.

Is it possible to make the homepage sliders smaller? Maybe not as long? And is it possible to move them up?

Additionally, in regards to the homepage, is it possible to make only say, a right sidebar for a twitter feed/archives?

And as far as only having featured posts from the blog on the homepage, is there a setting to post ALL the blog posts on the homepage, regardless if they’re featured?

Can they also be full width (minus the right sidebar, of course) instead of the full width one on top and then the two-column posts underneath?

I really like how clean and minimal this theme is, I just don’t want to be and then not be able to move things around as I’d hope.

Thanks for the interest :)

Yes, we can provide some basic instructions (on our support forum) about how to change the slider size and move it up.

Regarding the sidebar on the home page – this is a dynamic widgetized sidebar, which means that you can insert whatever you like in there. If you have the widget that would accomplish what you need – then yes.

About the featured posts – yes, you can set all the blog posts to be displayed on the featured page.

Regarding making full width featured posts – the featured page layout is in the way you see it and changing it to full width may involve some more code changes. Anyway, the blog page provides a full width layout so you may consider using this one.

I hope this answered your questions :)

I ended up buying it before your answers. I have now commented on your support forum.

Is it possible to add second menu above slider? Thanks!

We can provide some basic instructions about how to add a second menu (one level only), but you may also need to add some CSS styles to make it look in the way you like :)

Is there a full width blog option? If so, can you post a link to check it out?

Yes, there is a full width option for the blog. We haven’t set it on the demo and it is a bit risky to change the demo content while it is live and there are users visiting it, so I can provide a screenshot only:

I think it shows well enough how it looks like :)

I use disqus for comments, in this theme it will look good?

We haven’t tested the theme with this plugin and can’t really say for sure, but the theme has been built according to the best plugin usage practices and also if the plugin goes with some default stylings, I guess everything should be okay :)

hello, a question is, when buying the Template the style switcher too?

The style switcher is not included with the theme – it has been added on the demo for demonstration purposes only, so you can easily check the different styles of the theme.

Would it be possible to have split sidebars for the theme – 1 left, 1 right?

The theme provides three layouts – left sidebar, right sidebar and full width layout, but having both left sidebar and right sidebar would involve some more customizations – if you have some basic PHP /HTML/CSS knowledge, this would be achievable.
