This is a pre-purchase question. The Cotton theme has horizontal lines in various places, e.g. above and below the “Welcome to Cotton” statement. Can those easily be taken out? And can the vertical spacing also easily be reduced?

Furthermore, I was wondering if you could please add a content slider to the Cotton theme. It would make very much sense since the theme works great for small businesses – and the slider is a great place to start communicating various campaigns and/or services offered.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers, M.

Thank you for the interest! :)

In the admin panel we have included an option to change the lines color, but not remove them. However removing them would be very easy – just a few CSS additions would be needed (we can instruct you about this on our support forum). The same applies for the vertical spacing.

Regarding the slider – we will be keeping this request in mind for the future development of the theme :)

Hi, I purchased your theme. I have been getting a lot of spam from the conatct form. Can I add captcha to the contact form? If so, can you direct me to a tutorial for doing so. Or could you provide me with a brief outline of the steps for adding captcha to the contact form so that I can search for the tutorial? (I’m not sure where to start and any help you can provide would be wonderful). It would be a real treat if you added this to one of your updates. :)

Thinking of purchasing the theme, but have a question…

Is it possible to replace the homepage slider images with a single .SWF file?

Thank you for the interest :)

We have already posted instructions on our support forum about replacing the static header image with a video (it can also be a .swf file).

As per Pexto’s instructions, we found the information on the old forum for this a couple weeks ago, but I am unable to find the info on the new forum. And because I haven’t purchased the theme yet I do not have a Purchase Code and therefore can not start a new thread for this topic on the new forum.

Can you provide a link to the info/instructions so we can get an approval prior to purchase?

Our new system is a private system and only some articles we create are public. We haven’t created an article about this yet, but if you purchase the theme and post a ticket, we will provide the instructions to you.

I have a pre purchase question:

Would it be easy to implement the quicksand plugin to the filter for the portfolio? A bunch of other portfolio themes have this and its the one thing holding me back from buying your theme. Please advise and help, thanks!

To my knowledge, this plugin doesn’t provide option for pagination as our galleries do, so this have been holding us back to implement it, as most of the users have more than just a few images per page and need an option to separate them on pages. If the gallery pagination is not important to you, I can’t really say how hard it would be to implement the plugin’s functionality, but I guess if you have some basic coding knowledge, it shouldn’t be too hard.

Love the look of this theme and the control you seem to have built in. Should be perfect for a project we’re working on. Pre-purchase questions. Sorry for so many – hopefully they’re easy to answer! (We are somewhat comfortable adjusting CSS /php as needed if you need to provide some direction.)

a) I want to move the top navigation above the logo, and have the logo space be as wide as the site (logo will be a larger image/graphic) – possible? Anything to watch out for when doing so?

b) Assuming that the lines and message “Welcome to The Cotton…Prem…” can be removed as desired on home page/other pages? Pls. confirm.

c) On a home page I’m hoping to have this organization:

1) Nav at top 2) Logo (as wide as the entire site) 3) Three services boxes 4) A Twitter widget and a Facebook widget side x side 5) “Sponsor logos” formatted how your “latest projects” display 6) Footer

Is this all possible? (Particularly placing Twitter widget and fb widgets side x side (in 2 columns) under the service boxes (but not in the footer). Can I accomplish via a full-width template and plugging in these components? (Can I simply drop some Twitter/fb code into text areas?) Or – can I add sidebars into the main content area in a full-width page? What is best way to accomplish this?

d) How would logos be added to the “featured projects” section on home page? Can they link to a page within? (and can those featured projects/logos animate – meaning they would automatically slide/advance to next set without clicking on the arrow right?)

Many thanks for your help!

Thank you for the interest! Here are my answers:

a) There is an option to change the default logo size so making it full width would be easy. I think swapping the positions of the menu and logo can be accomplished only by swapping the positions of the two div containers in the header.php file

b) Yes, they are optional

c) We have included an option to insert the services boxes with a shortcode as well so that you can use another page template and build a custom structure, different than the home page structure. So, regarding organization – yes you can create such a structure. Regarding the Twitter and Facebook widgets – you would need to find a plugin that would provide the functionality you need, so that you can insert it into the content of the page.

d) If you mean the “latest projects” – these are the portfolio items that you can see in the portfolio and gallery pages. They have their separate section where you can create and manage the items. Regarding the automatic animation, at this point this section doesn’t provide such a functionality, you can navigate only by clicking on the arrows.

I hope this answers your questions :)

Many thanks for the follow-up. All sounds do-able. Looking forward to getting this rolling. A

Hi, i was wandering if this theme allows me to create multiple sliders: I need to have a multiple language site and I wanted to have a different slider in each homepage… (like I succesfully did months ago with your theme Dandelion)... can i also generate multiple sidebar widget areas? Thanks in advance stef

Yes, you can create multiple sliders and assign the different sliders for different pages. And regarding sidebars – yes, you can create multiple sidebars and assign them to different pages too :)

sorry but i just purchased and installed the theme and the first thing I want to change doesn’t work! the custom colors don’t apply! i’m using wp 3.3.1… any idea why?

You can read the most common reasons for this problem on this article we have created.

If you still have any questions, I would like to ask you to use our dedicated support system:

thanks for the quick reply! i solved the problem by re-installing the theme via ftp and NOT through uploading the original .zip file… thanks again!

First of all, the best ** theme i ever worked with. Love your backend panel, it has almost everything! I have a question thou. Is it possible to exclude a portfolio category from the gallery page? I have lets say 6 categories and i want to show 5 of them but the last category i want to show on another page. Is that possible?

First of all – I’m sorry for the delay, we were out of the office for a few days. And thank you very much for your kind words, I’m glad you like the theme :)

The portfolio gallery works on the “include” principle, not “exclude” – we have created an article about creating different galleries with different categories, you can read it here.

sorry to bother again but I’m trying to put the small contact form in the widgetized footer like in your demo and documentation but i don’t see the Contact widget: do I have to upload another plugin?

This is a shortcode – please check the “Styled elements and shortcodes” section of the documentation.

Hi again,

have a another question for you. Is it possible to write an intro text in the gallery? Like a small text just before the gallery starts?

Regards A

I’m really interested in this theme but before i purchase, i like to create a PSD mockup to see how it fits with my own content. Could you let me know the name of the font families used in the demo so that i can see how it looks with our logo etc?

Many thanks

Thank you for the interest!

The font used for the headings is “Droid Serif” and the font used for the body text is “Droid Sans”.

Thank you for your help – much appreciated.

I am interested in your theme. Can a background image be added via the admin panel?

Thank you for the interest!
Yes, there is an option included to implement a custom background image.

Excellent theme and great support! Thank you!

Thank you very much, I’m glad you like the theme! :)

Is there a way to use the theme button style in Contact Form 7? I would like all the buttons to look consistent.

Thanks in advance!

P.S. For the sidebar widgets you can refer to the “Widgets Included” section of the documentation.

For a Belgian festival I’m considering to purchase the Cotton theme but one of the key features the site needs to have is the possibility to create a mailing list so visitors can subscribe and we can frequently send mails with updated about the headlines, acts, etc.

Is this option available in this theme?

Thanks in advance

Warm Regards

Thank you for the interest!

There isn’t such a functionality included by default, but you should be able to accomplish this with a plugin – there are lots of subscription plugins available. A quick search in the WordPress plugin repository provides quite lots of results:

Absolutely love the clean theme and great reviews! Can you have multiple blogs on this theme?

My intention is to make one public and one private with some privacy plug-ins, so I thought I would ask. Really the tipping point for me. =)

Thank you!

Thank you, I’m glad you like the theme :)

You can create multiple blogs just by linking to the category archive. For example, if you open the blog page on the demo, you will see a sidebar widget called “categories” – when you click to any of these category links, each page that is opened can represent a different blog page with different posts.

Hello I have a pre-purchase question. In the demo there is a “featured from the blog” page and there is also a “Blog” link posts. From other themes I have used, it is only possible to put the blog loop on the Blog page. Do I need to learn how to code the featured from blog section for the home page?

You don’t have to do any coding in order to set the featured from the blog page – you just have to select this page template to your page and optionally select a category whose posts will be displayed.
