AJ, Question for you. I am using Total on this site: http://red5webhosting.net/clients/independentprint.com/product/stickers

For some reason the VC Accordion is fully opened on the above link but not on any other pages. The sidebar is pulling from the WooCommerce Sidebar and here is our code:

[vc_accordion][vc_accordion_tab title="BUSINESS CARDS"][vc_column_text] <p><a href="#">- 32pt Cards</a><br /> <a href="#">- Foil Cards</a><br /> <a href="#">- Lenticular Cards</a><br /> <a href="#">- Linen Cards</a><br /> <a href="#">- Magnetic Cards</a><br /> <a href="#">- Plastic Cards</a><br /> <a href="#">- Premium Cards</a><br /> <a href="#">- Silk Cards</a><br /> <a href="#">- Über Letterpress Cards</a></p> <p>[/vc_column_text][/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title="WIDE FORMAT"][/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title="PRINTING"][/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title="DESIGN SERVICES"][/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title="WEB SERVICES"][/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title="VINYL WRAPS"][/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title="SCREEN PRINTING"][/vc_accordion_tab][/vc_accordion]</p> <br />

Any ideas?

Hum…If you notice “js_composer_front.js” is not loading on this page. I had a look and it seems the Visual Composer only loads it’s script if there is a row on the page. So maybe try adding a little function to ensure it loads everywhere there is a sidebar, example:

// Load VC js file if there is a sidebar
function my_load_vc_js() {
    if ( 'full-screen' != wpex_get_post_layout_class() && 'full-width' != wpex_get_post_layout_class() ) {
        wp_enqueue_script( 'wpb_composer_front_js' );
add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'my_load_vc_js' );

This would be added in a child theme functions.php file.

As always you are the man!! Thank you very much! It worked great!

When I try to import sample data i get this error:

Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 55836672) (tried to allocate 3223622 bytes) in /homepages/1/d213524385/htdocs/ofis/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-importer/parsers.php on line 66

I tried adding define( ‘WP_MAX_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ‘256M’ ); to wp-config but it did not work. Can you please help? Thanks.

The sample data is pretty big. It’s possible your server can not handle it. What most developers do is setup a localhost so they can import and try the theme locally then they can create their site on the live site, this will also make it much quicker because your live site won’t be bloated with sample data and images. I would highly recommend it. Plus working locally you don’t put extra stress on the server and its WAY faster.

You could also try importing without the images, because that should be very fast.

If what you want is mostly just a few pages, you can also just copy/paste the code for these pages straight from this github page – https://github.com/wpexplorer/total-sample-pages – and really save time and keep things clean.

I am trying to have the active page title in the nav bar underlined. I tried a few different CSS tricks but nothing worked. I am using basic skin, header layout one.

Any simple Custom CSS???

One other CSS question. I am trying to figure out what CSS needs to be changed so the following plugin output follows the rest of the website colors, it looks like its defaulting to the themes original colors and not the colors I have set up on the website. Here is the output from the plugin: http://curtfish.net/idx/mls-20649469-100_sunny_st_newport_beach_ca_92707

If you could either point me to the CSS that needs to be changed so the with boxes become cream (#F8FAEC) with blue text (#242C3F) and vice versa so everything shows up on the page with these colors – if this is outside support please let me know.

Here is an example for the top part:

#dsidx .dsidx-secondary-row {
    background: #F8FAEC;
    color: #242C3F;

Result: http://cl.ly/image/2T3127240Q2x

There is a lot to style here though, so I can’t help you with all of it. Unfortunately I am not everyone’s personal developer ;) I really need to focus on answering theme related questions and issues, since support is provided for free.

I do help as much as possible when it’s a tweak here and there, but I can’t spend an hour knocking out custom CSS for people. I hope you understand.

If you do need some help with mods, you could check this out – http://studio.envato.com/explore/wordpress-customization

Or if you are new to web design and want to learn I highly recommend you check this out – https://developer.chrome.com/devtools/index – I find this to be the easiest way to see where styles are coming from and how to edit them.

Have just started trying to work on my site offline for the first time using MAMP but am having problems with Visual Composer. The black Visual Composer bar is missing at the top of the page (where it usually says classic mode or front-end editor), and the module on the bottom of the page doesn’t seem to be loading correctly either.

Here’s a screenshot: http://postimg.org/image/3pffsqbwl/

Any ideas? It says everything is up to date and it seems my user settings are correct.

Thanks in advance.

Looks like you might have everything installed under a “test sites” folder. You really should avoid adding spaces to folders when working with a server environment because then files can’t be found properly.

If you can switch that to test-sites or test_sites, I bet it will all work ;)

Yes, that did the trick! Thanks for the help and the tip!

Awesome! 8-)

Hi folks, i think about buying your theme to exchange my x-theme. so my urgent question is – is it possible to build fullscreen layerd pages like here: http://kampfkunst-photos.de And second is it possible to set elements of visual composer above a main menue? last question – can i add third party plugins to the included VC version? i had big issues with my xtheme as it was also customised and so it was not possible to add custom plugins. thanks in advance for your answer ! regards carsten

If you encounter any problems just let me know. Just keep in mind I sometimes take saturday and or sundays off from support ;)

hahaha ok so don´t do this on the next weekend – hahahah – just a joke – lets see if it will be not tooo much work to come into the logic of the theme and do the migration from my actual one.

perhaps you will add in futer an option to completly remove the container / header /footer / sidebar. this was what made x-them so outstanding and flexible. i didn´t see this in any other theme (unfrtunatly). thanks for beeing there carsten

You can remove this sections on a per-page basis – http://cl.ly/image/020F0Z0k0w0D

And you can change the layouts (no-sidebar, full-screen, left/right sidebar) for various sections in the theme panel options.

If you want to remove site wide or for a specific archive, it’s VERY easy with the built-in hooks using a child theme, examples….

I see how “other” themes are coded and I stand by mine 100%. I’ve tried to build my theme in a way that even if all theme options are stripped away (which can actually be done easily with a single function in your child theme) things will still work 100% and can still be altered via a child theme. This provides for a more fluid and powerful while at the time less bloated structure.

ps: My FAQ is big and useful so check it out – http://themeforest.net/item/total-responsive-multipurpose-wordpress-theme/6339019/support?ref=WPExplorer as well as I am slowly adding new videos here – https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLMGCosyDx4aqiPFpdRKROLW9XnT_J4-y4

And of course always open for new suggestions!

AJ, So we have this theme at http://egmanagedservices.com – you liked what we did :-)

Here is my question. Can we create a landing page, with no navigation, using the page specific CSS for specific pages? I want to keep all of the pages on the site versus a separate subdomain of the marketing automation platform…. Any ideas?

Oh yes I remember this, it is nice 8-)

Did you buy it on another account though? I don’t see the purchase tag here.

If you want a page without any navigation, just use these options built-in – http://cl.ly/image/2Y1P06292R41 – so the only thing left would be the page content ;)

Did you receive my email? I had a couple unanswered questions there, including integration with the WP Job Manager… Look forward to your response :) Thanks

I just checked and yes I got it. We have almost 13 emails already back and forth!

I’ve got quite a few questions to get through before I reach yours, thank you for your patience. I will get to it as soon as I can.

I read your built-in message to deactivate YOUR VC extension. I did. WP says VC needs an update. It wouldn’t update like it would in the past and it gave me the same error as some other people already have (missing package). Weird cause it would update OK in the past. I did update the theme as well. I followed your instructions here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlGC6yp_mpk After I deleted VC plugin, I don’t see the message “you need to install VC…”

Very strange…the only reason that message wouldn’t show is if the plugin is still installed, the cookies are set and you cleared the message, or if you don’t actually have permissions to install plugins.

Quickest thing though, would be to locate the plugin, it’s in the theme at Total/plugins/js_composer.zip and just install it manually.

“Quickest thing though, would be to locate the plugin, it’s in the theme at Total/plugins/js_composer.zip and just install it manually.” – Would that install the latest version?

Yes, the latest version is available within the theme. And you can see on the changelog always – http://www.wpexplorer.com/changelogs/total/ – what version is included.

The auto install notice, actually grabs it straight from your theme folder that is on your server. Shame your’s isn’t working ;(

The Visual Composer in Total is version 3.7.4 and Wordpress tells me to update to version 4.2.3, but that doesn’t work. An error message occurs and say there’s no update available. Isn’t it possible to update the Visual Composer or did i something wrong?

Thanks, Axel

I fixed it. I had the same problem like shqipo and at the end i installed the plugin from the zip file. Now it works again.

Glad you got it working. Here is the explanation as to why you can’t auto update and the instructions for updating the plugins for future reference ;)

Great update.

Glad you liked it, thanks!

Is it possible to display the image caption on featured media on single blog posts?

You are right, that is a nice idea. I just added it for version 1.52, but styled over the image – http://cl.ly/image/3g0A0C401l1N

The option to enable will be under the “Blog” tab – http://cl.ly/image/1x3U2N2k2W40

Version 1.52 to be released this week for sure!

That’s perfect! :)

Thank you for the suggestion, I am sure others will like it!

i am using WP 3.91 i installed total 1.5

my theme options is not working… all options are displayed on one single continuous page and its not functioning. i am unable to make changes via the theme options. i’ve read through the comments and looks for any similar problems.. and did most of the suggested solutions like turning off all the plugins but none of them seem to work.

Help.. :-)

Ok got it…

The redux framework folder in the theme folder needs to be given write permission

Glad you got it working! Thank you for letting me know.

For some reason this happens on certain servers, I don’t think there is anything I can do to help avoid that but I will look into it.

ps: In the future don’t forget to comment using the account you purchased the theme with! You don’t want people thinking it was downloaded illegally 8-)

I’m trying to download some of the sample pages and can not find them. Can you tell me how to download those into the theme? Specifically the Home Page samples.

You can find the full sample data in the downlodable zip at “Sample-Data/Theme/total-theme-export.xml”.

If you only want the homepage examples seems a bit silly to upload the entire sample data, you can get the examples on this Github – https://github.com/wpexplorer/total-sample-pages

Simply copy/paste the code into “text” mode in your post editor.

i have some bugs with the mainmenu and the togglebar.
The mainmenu is over the tooglebar when they is open.
And there are more suspect loads on the site. sometimes its not loading all content in admin when i open a product or page.

I think its something with the javascript or css but i don´t want to make experiments It was hard enough to get to run with the WPML plugin the page.
some errors you can see here:

click on the tooglebar right an you can see what i mean.

The other thing is when i want to delete a product from cart it dosn´t work. The site load new but the product stay in the cart.
Make a test… take this product in the cart and then try it to delete it.
I’m really desperate on. Please help ;)

the problem with the Cart and clear a product is solved. It was when you dublicate a product with WPML.

Where I now really need help is when loading the page!
Something just does not match the CSS or Javascript.
If I, for example, switch on the forum page from English to German, the German forum page throughout is narrower than the English. And the search field is not in line with the search button.

When I click on an image and opens the lightbox, then the menu is all over it.

Moreover, the problem is there that I often have to refresh the page again when editing content, so that all load processing fields.

I hope that here is not a monologue and I get help from you soon.

Unfortunately, I write to you without success.
I get no help on my kind request and that makes me really angry!

A product is only as good as the support.;)

My rating habits:
Design – 1 Star
Features – 2 stars
Support – 2 stars

Unfortunately, I can forgive the moment more than 1 star!
And also for future purchases from you that would be criterion.

Anything bad or even without support flying at me from the shopping list.
And I bought on Envato over 120 themes!

Sorry for the delay, I just responded to your email. But I hadn’t seen this comment prior. Please respond back to my email if you still have issues and I’ll get right back at you and we’ll get this sorted out immediately.

Hi AJ,

How do I make a top menu item (like “Short Codes” and “Services” on your demo home page) not open when clicked? I have a heading that opens up into an expanded menu (like the demo) but I don’t want it to be it’s own page.

I’m sure there is a setting for this but I can’t find it.

Thanks, Chris

Hi again,

I just launched my clients site and the mobile menu is wacked out on an iPad. Could you please let me know what might be causing this. Here’s the link to the site!

Found it, thanks.

One more question though! When I make a main menu item non clickable, it does not stay that way in the expanded mobile menu. Is it supposed to? I don’t want anyone clicking on it because there is no page to open. I know people will click on the name vs the triangle.

So, is there a way to do this or should I just leave the menu open (saw this in the FAQs)? Please help, thanks again.

If you don’t want a menu item “clickable” enter a # symbol for the URL, example -> http://cl.ly/image/2a0a0L463j31

Is there a way to make the copyright footer have less space top and bottom, like a -30px or -50px margin?

Also, I am having a problem getting my CSS to over ride the default colors and font families and the options for changing the font families doesn’t appear to be working either – trying to get the nav bar to Linden Hill with color #F8FAEC and all text to Arimo with color #F8FAEC. The body fonts show up white, gray and black and the nav bar won’t change font family using the options screen and the CSS doesn’t appear to be doing the trick either.

Hi there,

A lot of the spacing is added due to the h4 in there. This CSS should do the trick:

body #footer-bottom > .container { padding: 0; }
body #copyright h4 { margin: 0; }

The fonts look good to me in the nav and also the colors, did you fix it up? I checked locally and my theme options are working for me!

The header in my site http://www.informatico.pt/ is no longer sticking to the top and it’s enabled to do so.

I want to make the header background with an opacity less than 1 and I am using header 2.

Thanks so much for your help. Antonio Almeida

Hi Antonio,

It looks like the sticky navigation should be working fine based on the code, so its pretty tricky to troubleshoot. Can you try disabling the Javascript minify in the Theme Options panel under the “Optimizations” tab to see if it works and so it’s easier to troubleshoot?

Opacity on the header background can be accomplished via custom CSS like this:

.header-two {
background: rgba(255,255,255,0.7) !important;;

But your background is white so you wouldn’t see a difference.

hi! This is Cio, I just got the theme and I had a problem. When I am going to theme option , I see this: Settings have changed, you should save them! error(s) were found! warning(s) were found!

What can be the problem?

And I can use anything or change anything. I really appreciate your help! Thanks!

The theme options page has no style and its all on one page. I can’t use some of the buttons, like the upload or remove uttons. I am using bluehost. Thanks!

This seems to be a common issue with Bluehost :(

It doesn’t happen to everyone but I’ve seen a lot of users on Bluehost where the permissions aren’t set correctly so the files can’t be accessed, like this – http://cl.ly/image/2v0z3b441Q02

Can you personally double check your file/folder permissions? And if not can you ask your host to fix it up for you?

Actually if you show them this screenshot they should hopefully be able to help you – it is a server problem.

I am trying to include Google Maps in a toggle area. I have embedded the iframe code and when I view the map the location is correct. But for some reason the map’s default state is zoomed out to a view of the world.

Is there a way to correct this so that the map is zoomed in to a reasonable level?

Thank you!

This is because by default the toggle is closed and the map is hidden, so the height can’t be calculated properly.

It’s just how javascript works…its not really possible to fix without having a whole custom toggle function with a callback for the map :(

For SEO anyway, I would actually recommend creating a page for each. And on the landing page for the contact us have some nice buttons or images that link to each specific location and a page with the content.

Is it possible to put the search bar (like in Header 2) in the navigation bar? And would it be possible to add jQuery + Ajax to allow for autocomplete/predictive text?

Thank you!

The jQuery Ajax for auto-complete would require a 3rd party plugin, that’s not something I would ever build into the theme because it’s a lot of overhead and can bring a lot of crapy managed hosting servers down to their knees.

You can dump a searchbar into the navigation fairly easily via a custom function in your child theme + some added CSS.

// Function for adding a searchbar into your navigation
// Place this function in your child theme's functions.php
function add_search_to_header() { ?>
    <form role="search" method="get" class="my-custom-searchform" action="<?php echo esc_url( home_url( '/' ) ); ?>">
        <input type="search" class="field" name="s" value="<?php _e( 'search', 'wpex' ); ?>" onfocus="if(this.value==this.defaultValue)this.value='';" onblur="if(this.value=='')this.value=this.defaultValue;" />
<?php }
add_filter( 'wpex_hook_main_menu_bottom', 'add_search_to_header' );

That function above will add the searchbar to the bottom menu hook. then add some Custom CSS to style it and place it where you want it ;)

When I add this function it drops it below the navigation. I can’t even edit the field. Ideally I would like it to replace the search button in the navigation in Header Style – One.

That is correct, it drops it below the navigation (because there isn’t any added style for this modification because its custom), but it is inside the main navigation div. So you just have to apply some CSS to place it accordingly (absolute CSS positioning).
