Should not be part of the same portfolio demonstration Langley

How should I set up?

Sorry I don’t understand what your question/issue is :(

My old editor CKEditor had the ability to generate tables, but it conflicts with Visual Composer which I noticed does not seem to have any innate ability to create tables. How do I generate professional looking tables (not pricing tables, but any general table) with this theme?

I read other comments about users of the Total theme using the Easy Table and TablePress plugins. TablePress seems to have a better interface, but its shortcodes do not seem to work well with another plugin. Easy Table doesn’t rely on the shortcode so it works fine, but it is just okay. Any recommendations for generating great tables within this theme?

TablePress is the one I normally recommend.

Is it possible to create your tables using CKEditor and then copy/paste it into a Visual Composer module? (maybe if you have 2 pages open)?

I can see why. TablePress looks like the best option. I found a workaround on the other plugin if I really want to use Table Press. I was really curious if these were the only popular table plugins.

how do i create text boxes that look like these with the shadowing on the sides ?

That would require adding some Custom CSS to your site, because this would have to be done using images set to the background of your columns. Which is exactly how they did it – http://cl.ly/image/3R0p2g3v1q0t

Hi, could you give some info about tabs/tours nesting restrictions. I saw, that one cannot place tours inside tours, as the VC element is just not available, when adding to a tour. Any workaround to achieve this?

What I also had in mind, was to have a (non-nested) tour with some of it’s navigation tabs on the left side and some on the right side. Possible?

Finally, how can I just place the whole tours navigation on the right side?

Thanks in advance, Bernhard

Hi Bernhard,

You just can’t have tabs inside tabs and if you even tried to things would get very messy and buggy. And honestly this sort of layout would probably not be very user friendly either. There has to be a better solution. If you can show me the URL and what you want to achieve I’ll try and provide some feedback ;)

Having tabs on the left and right isn’t impossible, but it’s “hacky”. The tabs are all inside a UL list, so you would have to position each one absolutely and then the content absolutely, it would be pretty tricky, especially to get it looking nice responsively.

Simply put, to place the whole tours on the opposite side is pretty easy via custom css:

body .wpb_tour .wpb_tabs_nav { float: right; }

But depending on what style of tours you are using you’ll need to make some more modifications for padding/borders.

Thanks for your feedback! :-) Didn’t think about responsiveness. It might really be the reason, to avoid my idea altogether. Just to let you know, what I had in mind, please look at this item: http://themeforest.net/item/rient-multipurpose-parallax-psd-landing-page-/8057304 A designer sometimes invents something, that no coder could ever implement. ;-)

I’ve seen this in themes…You know what it is right? It’s just a 3 column visual composer module with icon boxes on the left/right and a static image in the middle. I see several themes that do that, and it looks nice on Desktop but shit on phones ;)

How can I make my full width revolution slider be under the header menu. I mean, how can I make my menu transparent? I can’t find anyway to do it.

There isn’t any built-in option for this, it’s on my list of future updates though!

It’s a massive addition…. It would require placing the menu absolutely at the top of the site then adding custom CSS just for the menu over the slider because the default gray links will almost always look bad, the navigation would need to be tweaked to white links with dark drop-downs, targeting only pages with this style header.

I really hope to get that addition added in about 2-3 weeks. I am going on a vacation next week to visit family I haven’t seen in many years so I don’t want to update that yet just incase there are bugs I would want to be around to fix them.

I am having problems getting the tabs (or tours) to work.

When I add tabs in VC I can click on the different tabs, rename them, but it always shows the content I have added to the first tab. This also means I cannot add any content to the other tabs.

When I look at the tabs on the site itself, all tabs show, but none of the unselected tabs are clickable. Also, the content I have added to the first tab (which is the only tab I can add content to) doesn’t show.

When I try to debug the code it shows the error: “Uncaught Error: jQuery UI Tabs: Mismatching fragment identifier.” Unfortunately I have no idea what to do about this.

You can see an example of this here: http://www.queens-ranch.ch/wp/weiterbildungen/seminar-fuer-reiter-pferd/ (scroll down to where you can see “Workshop I, Workshop II”

Any help in solving this is greatly appreciated!

Thank you for your patience over the weekend,

This type of error is generally caused by 3rd party plugins. Did you try de-activating plugins to test?

If you want you can send me a private message with the url and temp admin logins so I can have a look.

You can message me privately via the form on this page – http://themeforest.net/user/WPExplorer

How to duplicate portfolio pages and how to deactivate pages too? ( I would like to preserve the template pages instead to delete them. Thanks.

One more thing: how to remove social links for all pages?

Hi, Where’s the main CSS? I need to know what’s the responsive class?. Thanks.

Thank you for your patience over the weekend.

1. You can save your Visual Composer templates like this – http://themeforest.net/item/total-responsive-multipurpose-wordpress-theme/6339019/faqs/20879

2. Remove the social links in the theme panel under the “Social Sharing” tab -> http://cl.ly/image/470j1q3Q1q3H

3. I’m not sure what your question is regarding responsive. The CSS for responsive is at css/responsive.css (but you shouldn’t ever edit theme files). If you have set the CSS minify option though then all CSS including responsive will be in style-min.css

Hi AJ,

I am re-building a website using your excellent Total theme. The new website is at: http://pickering.flywheelsites.com/business-lawyers/

To view, use the following login. Username: flywheel Password: pickering

On “The Team” page (linked above), I want two columns that each have a one-third width. So, I made a three column row inside of an outer row and populated the first two columns with content, leaving the third column empty.

How can I center the two columns using a method that works in desktop and mobile views?

Thanks! Mike mikejmccarthy

Hi Mike,

You should be able to add some CSS easily for this to the “content-area” div. Example:

.content-area { padding: 30px; background: #fff; }

When you want to style multiple pages the same, always use CSS, no point in adding in the Visual Composer to posts/pages just for this. It’s just extra overhead and work. Especially for blog posts, you aren’t going to go in and add the style each time.

Hi AJ,

Great! Thanks for the advice and code, they are just what I needed.

Best, Mike

Hi i just want to completly remove the logo in the header of type three. As well i wanted to increase the hight of the menu bar in the header three and make the background a bit transparent if it gets sticky on the top of the browser window. I followed several tutorials in the docs but they seem a bit outdated or i didn´t find several fields like the hight of the header bar. So could you perhaps provide me a solution to achive this? thanks in advance! carsten

Hi Carsten,

1. You can remove the logo by adding this function in a child theme’s functions.php:

function wpex_header_logo() {

2. To increase the height of your menu you would need to add some custom CSS like this (change the 70px to match your preferred height):

body .navbar-style-two .dropdown-menu > li > a {
height: 70px;
line-height: 70px;

3. To add transparency the custom CSS would look like this:

#site-navigation-wrap-sticky-wrapper.is-sticky #site-navigation-wrap {
opacity: 0.8;

ps: The documentation isn’t going to show you every single possible tweak that can be made via customizations, it would be impossible ;) But there are many useful FAQ’s for future reference – http://themeforest.net/item/total-responsive-multipurpose-wordpress-theme/6339019/support?ref=WPExplorer

Hey great thanks!

Sure thing!

Hi again, is it possible to make a multi colum text in VC text fields ? Perhaps there might be a css class for that within the theme but i couldn´t find a documentation on css classes in the documentation. thanks in advance for your help regards carsten

Hi Carsten,

You’ll want to create your rows first with the Visual Composer and then insert your text modules. This video guide shows how to make columns – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5RwzrlaMBYA – around a minute into the video.

Hi again, thanks for the reply. I didn´t mean a colum like this but a columnised text within a colum so it perhaps might be devided by a line. You can see what i mean here:

So this row is devided by 1/2 and 1/2 and the first half has a 2 columnised text. Thanks! in advance carsten

The methods shown in this example will probably not work in older browsers because it’s very modern CSS3. But if that’s what you want it’s very easy….

1. Add a new class of “columnize-2” to your Visual Composer module that holds the text -> http://cl.ly/image/1I0f193L2d2T

2. Add this CSS to your site:

.columnize-2 { -webkit-column-count: 2; -moz-column-count: 2; column-count: 2; -webkit-column-gap: 3em; -moz-column-gap: 3em; column-gap: 3em; -webkit-column-rule: 1px solid #e5e5e5; -moz-column-rule: 1px solid #e5e5e5; column-rule: 1px solid #e5e5e5; margin: 0 0 1.313em; }

I added this CSS to the next update so others can take advantage of it ;)

urgs – sorry :-)

Hi, again me :-). I wonder what is the purpose or better the difference of the Projects/Sizes/Portfolios. I just wanted to setup a Portfolio Section to show differentz work that is filterable. For the filters i have set up several Project categories. I also set up a page called gallery that is linked in the theme settings to show up a portfolio. But my portfolio Project is not shown inside this page. Seems i didn´t understand the concept that you use. Thanks for a short hint how to set things up. sunny greets carsten

Does your portfolio have a featured image? Make sure they have featured images so they display in the grid.

Did you see my video on adding portfolio pages? It might help!

Ah you got me :- ) Thanks! Just a tip – it is very difficult to search all your great support documents as some knowledge is in here, some in videos and some in the documentation. perhaps a more centralised support platform would be a great solution to provide help on things and for you it might lower the need to support :-) But thanks for beeing here!

The FAQ is probably the best centralized place for support -> http://themeforest.net/item/total-responsive-multipurpose-wordpress-theme/6339019/support?ref=WPExplorer

I will also be adding A LOT more videos so eventually the videos will be the only place you’ll need to go to get answers ;)

http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/dkYKCo/http://totaltheme.wpengine.com/base/home/homepage-30/ So this a FANTASTIC score – is this “out of the box” or did you take extra steps outside the theme to boost your site speed? Also do you have a homepage sample that resembles Thunder? Looks great so far !

This is out of the box ;) But I am hosted on a premium account on WPEngine which is very powerful so you don’t really have to do anything ;)

No example that looks like Thunder, but that’s a good idea for a future demo update, thanks!

I updated to the latest version of Total 1.51 and Visual Composer 4.2.3. When I try to add elements in the backend editor nothing shows up. It’s just blank with the “Search by element name” box. Any idea of how I should go about fixing this. I’ve tried uninstalling Visual Composer and re-installing it from the latest Total zip file with no luck. Many thanks!

That’s very strange. I’ve never seeing this issue before so I might have to login to check.

Did you try disabling 3rd party plugins to see if any where breaking things?

If you can’t figure it out, please send me a private message with the site URL and temp admin logins so I can see what might be wrong. Use the contact form on my profile page – http://themeforest.net/user/WPExplorer

Thank you for your reply. I was able to use the “Frontend Editor” to add elements. After that for some strange reason the backend editor add elements issue was resolved. Everything is working fine now… Thanks!

I set the Toggle Bar to “Visible on Desktop Only” but it seems to still show up on all devices. I edited the size of the button using the Custom CSS window but wouldn’t imagine that could cause the issue? Thanks for the help.

In your custom CSS you have:

.toggle-bar-btn {
display: block;
position: fixed;
top: 0;
right: 0;
border-left: 40px solid transparent;
border-bottom: 40px solid transparent;
border-right: 40px solid #00b0ef;
border-top: 40px solid #00b0ef;
z-index: 1001;

Because you added “display: block;” it’s going to display always. If all you want to change is the size and color then only add css for that:

.toggle-bar-btn {
border-left: 40px solid transparent;
border-bottom: 40px solid transparent;
border-right: 40px solid #00b0ef;
border-top: 40px solid #00b0ef;

ps: I noticed you have a menu set to the mobile icons menu, you might want to checkout this video on setting that up because right now it’s showing blank squares – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsgHHjwg4HM&list=PLMGCosyDx4aqiPFpdRKROLW9XnT_J4-y4&index=9

I hope that helps!

Thank you!!

You are welcome ;)

Hi, We are face a grave issue. I updated Total theme 1.5 in FTP upload. Visual Composer Extension is embedded so, I deactivated the plugin in WP extensions. Now it’s very difficult to modify a page without having a VC message alert : “The current page is in an older version, you should update it” or something like that (our message is in french). BUT at this time, the page is destructured, rows and columns are duplicated more than 10 times!!!

This behavior is the same on OLD pages than NEW pages!!! I deactivated an extension to create tables but I’m not sure it is the reason.

Total theme need the WPBakery Visual Composer extension and there is a new version “View details of version 4.2.3. . Download new version from Codecanyon”.

On the Codecanyon webpage under my streamdesign credentials, I cannot download the new version. I have to pay 30$.

Anyway, I’m very disappointed. I have totally re-uploaded the whole files of total 1.5 and this behavior is absolutely not possible since our website is critical for our business.

Please, help us to fix that the most quickly you can.

Regards, William

Hi William,

This error in the Visual Composer has to do with WordPress 3.0. In the theme’s FAQ i mention that it’s very important to update the Visual Composer before updating to WordPress 3.9.

The fix is easy! Just update the Visual Composer plugin, then clear your cache.

Please see these 2 FAQ:

Please let me know if you still have issues so I can assist.

Thank you. It seems to be more stable.

Do you recommend the upgrade of VC WPBakery? Not to support the developer but technically. Of course, I’m agree to support the dev for its work.

Thank you William

Hi William,

It’s up to you, you can purchase it to receive automatic updates if you want, the only reason you might not want to do that though is because it is possible that there is an update that actually breaks the theme, so you would still want to checkout the changelog to make sure what version the theme works with ;)

Versions in box at the top – http://www.wpexplorer.com/changelogs/total/

And of course if you encounter any issues with the front-end or backend drag-drop and you purchased the plugin you could open a ticket with them and at times it might be faster then waiting for me 8-)

Just looking for some advice on the image grid function, i have used this to insert four images to this page, http://culchethhigh.tv/exam-information I was wondering if there is possibility to add a link to the image?

Thank you for your assistance

*duplicate comment ;)

Just looking for some advice on the image grid function, i have used this to insert four images to this page, http://culchethhigh.tv/exam-information I was wondering if there is possibility to add a link to the image?

The image grid is more for creating galleries. For your specific layout I would recommend you use the “Single Image” module instead which does support links in the images.

brill will have a look, thanks

hi how can i understand Statistics of visit from my web site ?

Sorry I don’t understand the question and how it relates to the theme.

I’m trying to create a full-width mobile menu under a centralised logo on my site. I searched the forum and found this:

@media only screen and (max-width: 767px) { #site-logo, #site-logo a, #site-logo img { float: none; width: 100%; max-width: 100%; } #mobile-menu { position: inherit; top: auto; margin-top: 30px; left: auto; } #mobile-menu a { float: none; width: 100%; margin-left: 0; } }

However, when I use this, the logo now scales down as I want when the screen reduces in size, but the logo is still to the left, and the mobile menu remains to the right of the logo and is a square button. I would like to replicate the layout you showed here – http://cl.ly/image/1h0h351b2H2q

Many thanks in advance – for your help and patience!!

Hi Mark,

I can’t get these logins to work. I just need any login that will allow me to see the front-end so I can checkout the code you added and see what might be wrong.

http://www.vivgrant.co.uk/wp-admin Sorry – try this: [login removed]

That should get you in!

Thanks again in advance.

Mark I reported your comment because you shared admin logins and these comments are visible to everyone, so I don’t want anyone logging into your site. You might want to change your password to be safe though.

I had a look at the site though…

First of all it’s looking nice, good work so far!

Now for the menu, try this CSS instead:

@media only screen and (max-width: 959px) {
    body #site-logo,
    body #site-logo a {
        float: none;
        width: 100%;
        max-width: 100%;
        text-align: center;
    body #site-logo img {
        display: inline-block;
        float: none;
        max-width: 100%;
   body #mobile-menu {
        position: inherit;
        top: auto;
        margin-top: 30px;
        left: auto;
    body #mobile-menu a {
        float: none;
        width: 100%;
        margin-left: 0;

I tried this on my local site and it seemed to work well. I’m going to try and add in a new mobile menu style in the next update that works more like the one in my “Twenties” theme – http://wpexplorer-demos.com/twenties/ – it’s a lot of work though, but I think people will like it.
