hi i would like to know if the youtube videos thumbnail fits well to the preview of the gallery section of this template.

I publish a lot of videos and for me that is very important, I don’t like black stripes at the top and bottom.

Hi there,

I get you, sometimes the black stripes on the video thumbnails are part of the images themselves. In those cases, if the image isn’t a match for the portfolio thumbnail aspect ratio, those bars will be visible.

Luckily you can set any image you want to be the portfolio thumbnail image. Simply insert the image of your choice right after the ‘fake’ thumbnail title.

The theme docs are available online https://demo.pixelmoxie.net/umo_folio_tumblr/documentation/#setting-a-featured-image-for-audio-and-video-posts

Some instructions are outdated, but now you can just insert an image on the post caption from the dashboard interface, no need to host it somewhere else.

Hope that helps!

Hello, this theme have a Newsletter field? How I can add a Newsletter field?

Hi there,

This theme does not have a newsletter option. Adding a newsletter subscription form would involve editing the theme HTML markup directly to add the form code (the footer would be a good place to put that in). Surely some custom CSS styles will be needed to make the form look good as well.

As this kind of customization is not included with standard theme support, this would be a paid customization job charged at an hourly rate.

If interested, please reach out using the form on my profile page.

Cheers!

Hi, Is it possible to completely hide the menu and just have people scroll to see the content? I want to create a press-release/package for my band, so it shouldn’t feel like a full on website, just like one page, so to say. Is this a feature?

If this works you got yourself another buy!

Hi Philip, thanks for reaching out!

While that’s not a feature that you can toggle on and off via a setting, it’s completely possible to hide the navigation bar by adding a bit of code to the “Add Custom CSS” box on the customizer.

If you decide to go for this theme, just shoot me an email using the form on my profile page and I’ll get back to you ASAP.

Cheers,

Sergio

Hello and thank you for providing this excellent theme. This seems like an easy fix but I just can’t find it anywhere in the support comments or the documentation: Is there a way to change the size of the Welcome message? As in the actual font-size in whatever unit. Thank you so much!

Furthermore wondering the following:

Is the Expander customizable? I would like to remove the shadow separation and maybe change the font and font size in there.

How do I make Text Widget 3 in the footer align to the right?

Again, thank you!

Hello there, thanks for your purchase!

Most cosmetic things can be changed with some Custom CSS. On the Customize screen, you need to go to “Advanced Options” and type or paste your CSS into the “Add Custom CSS” box.

1 – The size of the Welcome message can be changed in two ways. The first one would be to target the .welcome element itself and use media queries to control the size at different screen sizes. These are the default values in pixels, which you can change:

.site-homepage .welcome {
    font-size: 18px;
}

@media only screen and (min-width: 48em) and (max-width: 60em) {
    .site-homepage .welcome {
        font-size: 30px;
    }
}

@media only screen and (min-width: 60em) {
    .site-homepage .welcome {
        font-size: 36px;
    }
}

The second way would be to target the span element inside and use a relative unit, like ems or percentages:

.site-homepage .welcome span {
    font-size: 90%;
}

2 – The expander is customizable to some extent. To remove the shadow separations you can add the following to your Custom CSS:

.project-description::before,
.project-description::after {
    display: none !important;
}

The font families inside the expander will be set by the options Normal Font Family, Italic Font Family and Expander Headings Font Family. The font size is set via JavaScript depending on the expander width, so you can’t set it directly, but you could target paragraph inside the expander. For example:

.expander .scrollpane-content > p {
    font-size: 110%;
}

3 – I’m not sure you want to align the Text Widget itself or the text inside, so please send me an email using the form on my profile page with a link to your site so I can take a look.

Hope that helped!

Thank you so much! Everything worked beautifully. Writing you an e-mail about the alignment now.

Hello, i just purchased this theme, however there’s a few things i that make me stuck:-

1) How to change Home BG to my preferred image? 2) How to put title on the the photosets, like i see in your demos? 3) How to change corner for portfolio filter buttons from rounded to rectangle like in your demos?

Thanks in advance. :)

Ahh, it’s ok, the problem’s solve after reading your documentations…:)

However, a new problem come up. Looks like my site doesn’t load the theme automatically when i’m using phone (test on 2 android phones and 1 iphone). I need to request desktop site to load the theme. Is the theme just compatible on tablet? Cause it seems OK when using iPad2…or is there any other settings to enable the mobile (phone) version?

Hi there,

Thanks for your purchase!

I tried to be as comprehensible as possible while writing the documentation, must answers should be found there.

I think you just need to disable the option “Use default mobile theme” on the customizer’s “Advanced options” section, so the custom theme is used on phones as well.

Let me know if that helps,

Cheers!

Links in Tumblr now use “t.umblr”-redirect. Is there a way to avoid that? It causes my a href=”javascript:goback()” links not working.

Are you reporting an issue with the theme or is this a separate matter?

I’m not sure you mean Link posts or redirect pages, but I think Tumblr always used some sort of redirect, or at least has been doing so for quite some time.

I don’t think there’s a way to disable that behavior since Tumblr just outputs those links, it’s not a theme setting.

I this out of the box or do I need to know how to code some stuff to use it as shown in the demo?

Hi there,

You don’t need to know about coding — everything is handled via regular posts and customizer settings/options.

Keep in mind the theme only supports Photo, Audio and Video posts (and Quote posts to feed the testimonials section).

Of course, to get it to look like the demo, you need to create some posts to populate your portfolio and enable the right settings on the customizer.

You can check the online docs to get a better idea of how it works:

http://pixelmoxie.net/demo/umo_folio_tumblr/documentation/

Cheers :)

Hello I just bought your theme. But I can not open either file of “theme”. Please help me. Thank you

Thanks for your purchase! The file you downloaded is a simple Zip file. What operating system are you on? Any operating system should have compression tools to create and open Zip files.

Inside the folder there are two files, same name and content, different file extension, .html or .txt. You need to open either one of those and copy+paste its contents to install the theme. If you’re on a Mac I suggest you use TextWrangler to open the files.

The documentation for the theme is available online as well, please check the Installation section.

If you’re still having trouble, please use the form on my profile page to send me a message.

Cheers!

Hi there!

I really love the UMO Folio theme, but I also want to be able to make text posts. I’ve read that this theme isn’t ideal for blogging, but it’s still do-able by making a redirect page to another blog. Are there any other ways to implement blogging/text posts because I’d really love to buy this theme, but that’s the only thing holding me back. Also, do you have any examples of websites that use this theme and also have a blog section?

Thanks, Joey

Hi Joey,

Thanks for your interest :)

You’re correct, the theme only supports photo, audio and video posts (and quotes for the testimonials section). I’d love to be able to support text, link and chat posts, but in tumblr you have a single loop with all your posts lumped into it, and those don’t fit the concept of the portfolio grid and expander.

The solution mentioned on the docs involves entering a different URL pointing to your blog, then a link to said blog would appear on the navigation bar on the main site. Although this blog would be using a different theme and be on a separate domain, you could customize its colors to make it feel more connected.

I know it’s not ideal, but at the moment there’s no other way to have a portfolio and a blog at the same time.

I sent you some links via email.

Best regards,

Sergio

Hi Pix,

Amazing theme thanks.

I have a question, it is possible to expand the instragram photostream across the whole space in the footer instead of how is in the default state, as I am not using the twitter feed widget.

Thanks.

It should be possible. Try adding this to your Custom CSS:

.footer-middle .grid-wrap {
    margin-left: 0;
}

.footer-middle .grid-cell {
    width: 100%;
    padding-left: 0;
}

Cheers!

Thanks!

Hi Pixel! Great stuff thanks for your work, I have a question, how can I centralize the copyright text?

Hello there,

Thanks for the kind words!

Just paste the this snippet into Advanced options > Add Custom CSS on the customizer:

.footer-bottom .credits {
    display: none;
}

.footer-bottom .copy {
    float: none;
    text-align: center;
}

Hope that helps!

It did! thanks.

You’re welcome, I’m glad that worked!

Hello! :) I just bought your pretty theme and I have already few questions, I would be grateful for your help.

1. Is it possible to hide a button “follow”? I’d like to use my blog only as a portfolio, not for usual blog to like/post/reblog tons of stuff. 2. Is it possible to change the position and number of sections? Like, adding another services section and for example put it in different place, for example in the end of page? 3. On the visual example of your theme in the services section is visible the circle suggesting to click and swipe to see more, in my theme it is possible too, yet I don’t have that circle visible and I’m afraid some people would not notice it’s possible to swipe the image to see more examples. Is it a bug, or I need to enable it somehow? I am sorry, but English is not my native language and I can’t explain better what have I on thought!

Sorry for asking that much. The theme is really great, allows tons of good things and indeed can be wonderful for a portfolio! Thank you, please have a good day!

Hi there,

Thanks for your purchase! I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying the theme already :)

Support is better conducted via email, so please send me a quick message using the contact form on my profile page http://bit.ly/1SlbfeS

Just copy+paste your questions here and I’ll get back to you soon.

Cheers!

hello.. wanna buy this. can i use this in blogger ? thank youuu

Hi there! Sorry, you’ll only be able to install this theme on a Tumblr blog. Kind regards.

Hi, I love your theme. I’ve run into issues with it on the iphone. Every item in the portfolio opens in a new page. Is this a feature that can be disabled after purchasing?

Thanks!

Hi there!

On viewports that are 1024px wide or less (phones and tablets), the default behaviour is to bypass the Ajax expander and open the project details like regular links. IMO this provides a better experience as scrolling inside the details panel becomes less problematic.

You can however enable the AJAX expander for mobile, by toggling the option Enable Ajax On Mobile.

The docs are available online if you want to get familiar with the theme before committing: http://bit.ly/1G8xnT8

Cheers!

Hello everyone!

The v1.1.4 update, issued on March 23, fixes some layout issues on mobile devices, specifically on iOS Chrome. I urge all users to keep their themes up to date by simply downloading the newest files and repeating the installation steps (copy + paste the new HTML code on the customizer). Your theme options and Custom CSS will be preserved :)

If you still encounter any issues, please report them using the contact form on the item support page.

Thanks!

Hello there,

Is it possible to remove the space between the portfolio thumbnails?

Hi there,

The portfolio expander needs that space in order to work and look right, so I wouldn’t recommend removing the gutter unless the Ajax expander is disabled and projects are displayed on their own permalink page (when Enable Ajax Expander is off).

If you disable the expander, you should be able to remove the gutter by adding the following to your Custom CSS, under “Advanced options” on the customizer:

.portfolio-gutter {
    margin-left: 0;
}

#portfolio-grid .grid-cell {
    padding: 0;
    margin: 0;
}

Hope that helps!

hi sir.. is it able to add a scrolling parallaz on this theme?? if it can, where should i get it??

Hi there,

I haven’t looked in codecanyon, but there are several parallax scripts on the link I posted, and you’re free to integrate them with your site. I as mentioned, you should enlist the help of a developer, you can’t expect to include the script and have it work magically.

Cheers.

ok sir.. i will hire a developer to improve the site :D thanks for an info :D cheers

No problem! Good luck :)

is this theme seo optimized?

Hi there,

The theme wasn’t built with SEO specifically in mind. It follows best practices regarding markup, level 1 heading tags are use on each section; The title meta tag uses the post’s summary on permalink pages. Other than that, nothing specific has been done to optimize for SEO, besides the stuff Tumblr does by default.

Best way to optimize for a particular keyword would be to include it on the site domain, blog title and description, and on the posts contents.

To be honest, the portfolio section isn’t very SEO friendly, as all posts after the first page are loaded dynamically using Ajax. and that could be considered a drawback.

Thanks for your interest!

Hi congratulations for your work!!

I have three questions:

1-When I click on image portfolio expansor.The images comes out of box expansion.

2-How I can see box “Ask Us Anything ” in section contact?

3-Is possible make this theme responsive?

Thank you so much

Regards

Thanks!

1) This issue was fixed with the v1.1.0 update I believe. Make sure you’re running the latest version of the theme. Just download the files again and repeat the installation steps to update it.

2) On the Settings page for your blog (https://www.tumblr.com/settings), make sure you have Let people ask questions enabled.

3) The theme is responsive already. On the Advanced options section of the customizer, make sure Use default mobile theme is disabled.

Regards

Hello, How do I withdraw the button “follow us” and the logo tumblr staying on the top right?

Thanks…

Hey there,

If you want to hide the Tumblr controls, all you need to do is add the following to your Custom CSS:

#tumblr_controls {
    display: none !important;
}

Hope that helps!
