Resolved.
Pre sale questions, I am exploring this theme but I don’t see anything about commissions. Is there a feature within the theme where I can take like 20% of the project cost as platform fee?
Hi @kbe3999,
Yes, Felan supports platform commission. You can set a commission rate (e.g., 20%) in WP Admin → Felan → Theme Options → Projects Option.
Guide here: https://ricetheme.gitbook.io/felan-freelance-marketplace-and-job-board-wp/theme-options/projects-option
Felan works with an escrow flow: buyer pays first, funds are held, and when the order is completed the seller withdraws after the platform fee (commission) is deducted.

Pre-sale question.
Can I change the text like for instance ‘Freelancer’ to ‘Service Provider’ and ‘Employer’ to ‘Clients’?
Hi,
Yes, absolutely — you can change “Freelancer” → “Service Provider” and “Employer” → “Client” easily.
You can do this using any translation/text-editing plugin such as Loco Translate, even if you’re not translating the site to another language. Just replace the words with whatever labels you prefer.
If you need help locating the strings, feel free to let me know!
Best regards,
Franky.
Is is possible for a Freelancer to create or modify an order in their dashboard?
For instance, after the ‘Employer’ creates an order but after further communications (messaging), there’s the need for the ‘Freelancer’ to adjust the cost.
Or in the case where the ‘Employer’ communicates with the ‘Freelancer’ to detail the project and wants the ‘Freelancer’ to create the order for the ‘Employer’ to just proceed and pay.
Hi nanakwame,
Thanks for your question!
At the moment, the theme does not support it.
Currently, orders are handled based on the original service/package and checkout flow, and cannot be adjusted later by the freelancer from their dashboard.
If you really need this kind of workflow (freelancer-generated or editable orders), it would require custom development on top of the theme.
Best regards,
Franky
Hello, I have a pre-sale question: Does the theme combine the job board & freelancing Functionalities together? Or I should decide which of them to run? Thanks.
Hi Mahmoud,
Yes, the theme supports both Job Board and Freelancing functionalities together on the same website
You can:
- Run only Job Board,
- Run only Freelancing, or
- Combine both so employers can post jobs and also create projects for freelancers.
Everything is configurable from the theme options, so you don’t have to choose just one model.
Best regards,
Franky

Hi Deetz,

• Sharing the page URL and telling us which part should no longer be yellow?
Once we have that, our support team will help you update the color.

Hello,
Presale Questions:
1) Do I need custom code to add/remove/edit custom fields on the Freelancer pages? Project page? freelancer page? etc
2) Can different categories have different search filters?
Thank you!
- GM
Hi GM,
Thank you for your interest in Felan! Let me answer your questions:
1. Custom fields (Freelancer, Project, etc.)
You don’t need custom code for most cases. Felan includes a custom fields options panel where you can add, remove, or edit fields for Freelancer pages directly from the admin.
You can check the docs here: [https://ricetheme.gitbook.io/felan-freelance-marketplace-and-job-board-wp/theme-options/custom-feilds-freelancer](https://ricetheme.gitbook.io/felan-freelance-marketplace-and-job-board-wp/theme-options/custom-feilds-freelancer)
2. Different filters for different categories Yes, different taxonomies can have different search filters. For example, you can filter by skills, categories, ages, rates, and other taxonomies depending on the post type (freelancers, projects, etc.).
Best regards,
Franky

Hello, I would like to create a platform with two profiles: - Buyer - Seller Both profiles will be customizable (name, photo, description, customer reviews).
The buyer profile will be able to post offers seeking people to perform a specific service. Sellers will be able to offer their services. Each user will be able to view the other’s offers as soon as they are logged in. When logged out, it is impossible to see the listings of buyers and sellers. When a buyer sees a seller’s offer that suits them, they can add it to their cart and pay in full. The money is held until the service is completed and confirmed by both parties. Once the service is confirmed by both parties, the money is released. The seller receives payment, and the platform administrator receives their commission. After a service is completed, the seller and buyer can leave each other customer reviews. Does your platform offer all of these features?
Hi,
Thank you for your message and for explaining your idea.
With our theme you can already do:
- Two user types (buyer and seller) with separate profiles (name, photo, description, reviews)
- Buyers can post requests, sellers can post services
- Payment flow where the buyer pays, money is held, then released to the seller with admin commission after completion
- Reviews between buyer and seller after the service is completed
What is not available by default and would require custom development:
- Cart system (add multiple services/offers to a cart and pay in one go)
- Hiding all listings so they are only visible to logged-in users
If you are interested, our team can help with these parts as a custom development service.

can i switch civi theme to felan theme? without any issue and error?
Hi there,
You can switch from Civi to Felan, but it is not guaranteed to be “without any issue or error” because they are different themes with different structures. Some layouts, data displays, or plugins made for Civi may not work the same in Felan and can even cause conflicts.
Please make a full backup first, and ideally test Felan on a staging site before switching on your live website.
Best regards,
Franky
Thanks for the clarification.
My actual question was a bit different — I wanted to ask whether Civi is a job-portal theme, and if I switch to Felan, will it work in the same way as a full job-portal?
I don’t want to change the nature of my website; I want to keep it functioning as a job portal, just with the Felan theme’s design and features.
So my question is: Does Felan fully support job-portal functionality similar to Civi? Will it provide all core job-portal features?
Thanks!
Hi there,
Thanks for the clarification.
Yes, Felan is also a full job-portal theme and supports all core job-board features (jobs, applications, employers, candidates, dashboards, etc.), so you can definitely continue running your site as a job portal with Felan.
The important point is the database structure:
- Civi and Felan don’t use exactly the same fields/structure.
- When you switch, the existing data won’t be 100% plug-and-play compatible.
- Some information fields may not match or display correctly without careful migration and mapping.
So, Felan can replace Civi as a job portal, but for your existing data you may need to remap/adjust some fields or do a custom migration so everything lines up correctly.
Best regards,
Franky

Is the commission feature a fixed $ fee set or can It be a percentage? EG: 10% commission of the total order
Hi, You can set by custom %.
I was using the theme and felan framework properly. But even thought I did not do anything, somehow all fonts are changed and got bolder. Even Turkish letters started to look weird. How can I solve this and more important why did it happen? Plus you guys can still do something and affect codes in our websites?

The review system does not make sense and is causing serious issues for me on my site. The review system is a crucial part of my site and one of the main reasons i purchased this product.
It does not make sense for the freelancer profile reviews to be tied to the projects reviews and the service listing reviews to be separate. There should only be one review system.
The service listing reviews from when an “employer” purchases a service should be linked to the reviews under the “Reviews” tab of the “Freelancer’s” profile because if a Freelancer only sells services but doesn’t apply/get accepted for projects, their profile reviews stay at 0 stars even if they have multiple ratings for each service.
As someone who purchased this theme mainly to use the service listings and not the projects option, this is quite disappointing. Is there a way to remedy this so that all of the reviews, including the service listing reviews, get displayed on the Reviews tab of the profile? For this, both the review types would need to use the same star rating categories, which they currently don’t.
Without this fix, my site is incomplete and unusable for my purposes.
Additionally, it would be nice to include a “Write a Review” button on the freelancer’s profile.
Hi @nc94,
Thank you for your feedback. Your suggestions have been noted and forwarded to our development team for consideration in future updates:
1. Combine service reviews and project reviews into one unified review system under the freelancer profile. 2. Use the same star rating categories for both review types. 3. Add a “Write a Review” button on the freelancer’s profile page.
We appreciate your input and will keep you updated if this feature is included in upcoming releases.
Best regards,
Franky
It has been a shocking experience to know that the review system is not functional for the freelance marketplace website. after a long time of using the the theme i got to know it does not work at all. Once the review is submitted, in the bought services it still says write review, and no matter how many time one write the review it never shows up anywhere
