+ Minor CSS Style Improvements
+ Updated Documentation
- Various Minor Bug Fixes
Great theme, love it – clean and simple.
You might want to update the footer from 2014 to 2015
Hey mgjohansen,
Thanks for your comments and purchase. We’ll get the footer date corrected in the next update.
Hi, I really like your theme and I would like to purchase it. The only change that I would like to have the blog layout in center rather than right. and the sidebar content included in the center layout after the title.
Hey yatish27,
Thanks for your comments.
The sidebar can be removed within some custom CSS, this would remove the blog logo and other sidebar widgets. If you decide to purchase you can contact our support address (support@ecko.me) for information on how to do this.
Can I add it horizontally as it seen in tablet on top after the title and make the content(blog body) centerd layout ?
The blog title and navigation will remain at the top, and the posts would be center aligned.
Thank you for creating a Ghost theme that… doesn’t look like 99% of the other Ghost themes out there. Can’t wait to get started using this.
Hey kidcryptid,
Thanks for your comments and purchase of Orca, let us know if you have any questions.
I guess while I do have your attention, I’ll ask a question that has been on my mind. I’m assuming any aesthetic changes I make to the theme will be overwritten when I perform an update to the theme (that is whenever the next update is). Examples would be removing / adding elements to the sidebar, etc?
If you wish to make CSS edits we recommend adding a separate stylesheet, which you can re-import after updating. Any HTML adjustments will have to be reapplied, so we recommend backing up your changes before updating. If you need any assistance with this you can contact our support address (support@ecko.me).
Is it easy to add floating go to top button? for long post this will be helpful.
Is it easy to add previous or next post link?
Thank you!Hey winnerlicious,
Thanks for your interest in Orca.
The URL provided has a hash on the end, which is effecting the comments button. Try visiting the demo directly.
A back-to-top bottom is featured in the bottom right of the viewport, on smaller viewports this is hidden to prevent content overlap.
Next and previous posts functionality is currently not available in Ghost, however it is on their roadmap. When the feature is added we will integrate this into the theme. More information can be found here.
Hello,
I have tried to access my site over ssl, but when I do the fonts from google doesn’t load.
I’d appreciate if you would consider this in the next update.
Thanks again for the awesome theme.
Best Regards,
Hey Ardakilic,
Thanks for letting us know, we’ll get that issue corrected in the next update.
Hello @EckoThemes,
I could not see this error or my older comment fixed in the new version. I had to re-patch assets paths as https, also the font awesome css version from the cdn. I’d appreciate if these two were applied in the following version..
p.s: for the https fonts issue fix, these console output would help you I guess: http://prntscr.com/6hkos5
Thanks again,
Hey Ardakilic,
Apologies this seems to have slipped past us. An update with these changes is currently pending approval and should be available within the next 24 hours.
Hey @ExkoThemes
Both issues are fixed! Thanks for the prompt response
Keep up the great work!
Thank you.
Hello,
I have purchased your theme, firstly, great job, thanks!
I want to use a new font awesome icon, fa-lastfm in social icons.
http://fortawesome.github.io/Font-Awesome/icon/lastfm/
I guess the fontawesome in the theme is outdated since then.
What I want to learn is how can I use this, does simply updating the link of fontawesome css from bootstrapcdn would work?
Else, can you guide me through this?
p.s: I’d really appreciate if this would be in default social circle icons in the next release.
Thanks in advance,
Hey Ardakilic,
Thanks for your purchase and comments!
Yep, just replace the current CDN link with the latest version. We do update the FontAwesome CDN URL every update, but there seems to have been one since our last theme update.
Open the default.hbs file and navigate to line 20, exchange it with the following:
<link href="//maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/font-awesome/4.2.0/css/font-awesome.min.css" rel="stylesheet">
Thanks, by editing the line I can see the icon now
Keep up the great work!
Cheers,
Arda
Hi! It there a way to show title first and then the image on the post list page?
Hey liuyingwuridie,
Not by default, but if you email our support address (support@ecko.me) we can guide you through a minor code edit so the image will display below the title.
The Preview Url (http://themeforest.net/item/orca-responsive-ghost-theme/full_screen_preview/7614135) doesn’t seem to work.
Do you have an alternative Demo to check it out?
Hey xavieramoros,
It seems to be working fine here, do you receive any errors?
Try the direct URL: http://orca.ecko.me
Same problem as with Astro Theme
Ok apparently it was only a problem with my private network, it’s fine now. On my iphone it was a cache problem.
Sorry for the false alarm and thanks for the quick response!
Hi EckoThemes. This is a beautiful looking theme. I just had a quick question regarding the side-bar tags. Are those automatically placed in the side-bar whenever you create a new tag on a post, or are they needed to be manually inserted into the theme’s style? Thanks!
Hey kidcryptid,
Thanks for your comments. These tags need to be manually added, as there is currently no official way to iterate tags outside the post. If Ghost includes this feature at a later date, Orca will be updated to include tags automatically.
Does the theme support the new post images feature of Ghost 0.5.x?
Hey divita,
Do you have a link to the release notes for this feature? I cant find them on the official Ghost changelog.
Thanks.
Thanks divita. I’ll get an update out for this, it should be available within the next 48 hours.
Hi … I am thinking about buying this theme and just wanted to make sure you can add content to the sidebar by manually editing the file.
Also, I was wondering if there was a way to extend the menu of static pages you have at the top (i.e. by default, have them display as opposed to require someone to click on the icon)
Thanks!
Hey wheelcipher,
Yep, you can add your own HTML into the sidebar file. Also, for the always-shown navigation, send me an email and I’ll send over instructions on how you can do this.
What is the timeline for version 5 features?
Hey Motionbug,
The theme is fully compatible with Ghost 0.5.0 in its current state, and supports the new multi author features.
Hello there! Congratulations for the beautiful theme. My question is, since I do not plan to use it with Ghost, would it be possible to use it as a standard HTML/CSS/JS template for a CMS we are developing? With some tweaking perhaps?
Hey Xenoid,
Thanks for your comments.
You would need someone with the knowledge to separate the HTML and Ghost template tags, but yes that would work.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
Right, thank you, does not seem a big deal, then.
Hi! Bought the theme and it works great. Just wondering, any update coming soon in which we can add the “easier” social media sharing tools such as the Facebook Like button?
thanks and again, great theme!
Hey sopopre,
Thanks for your purchase and comments.
Each post has social links at the bottom, which includes Facebook, Google+ and Twitter. For information on how to add your own share links send an email to support. (support@ecko.me)
What’s the difference between this theme and the Astro?
Both are content focussed blogging themes, with variations in design. Astro is more minimalistic, and is designed more for textual content. Orca has more variations with posts titles and formats. I recommend reading the item description of both items to compare feature sets.
Thanks. Do one of these themes support Soundcloud, Youtube? Also is the “Reading time” display popup also included in the Orca theme, but just disabled?
Both themes support the embed codes of Soundcloud and Youtube within the post page, they wont be shown within the post list however. The reading time indicator is not used on Orca, but it will be considered for a future update.
Nice one. Does it support russian language?
Hey Kostik,
It does, but you may need to change the font. If you decide to purchase, and need help with this send me an email for some instructions. (support@ecko.me)
Just want to say, awesome theme. FAST, very FAST!
Thanks again, will be emailing if there are any issues but your documentation is great! Cheers
Nice work, it’s very clean. Good Luck With Sales!
Good luck!
