When I add an image to a news post it is cropped into panoramic aspect ratio when it is displayed on the homepage. How can I change the image that is displayed here? ie choose my own panorama image?

You mean news in Article element, that’s something different. You can use the following Custom CSS to change height of the image, but it is not possible to disable cropping:
.c-article-list .article-image a { height: 300px; }

you mean if you can set regular post list page (news) as a homepage? If so, then yes, that’s a standard WP functionality, just check out Settings / Reading.
If you meant something else, please be more descriptive.

You need to define a base page for news. Then select it under Theme Options / Standard Posts.

resaving permalnks should solve this in most cases, make sure to disable any caching plugins to test it properly. Feel free to share your URL, maybe I will see something there.

Testujem to na localhoste s najnovsim WP, takze problem bude niekde inde. Tato funkcionalita s WP velmi spolocne nema. Tam co moze byt problem je samotna dostupnost tej sluzby openweathermap.org ktora skratka nie je vzdy 100%, ale ako vravim, v tom zakodovanom tvare ako som Vam to poslal mi to funguje. Ja to vidim na problem bud s cacheovanim alebo nejake nastavenie Vaseho servera.

Tak da sa to cez WPML plugin ale ten nie je zadarmo, najbeznejsie riesenie je pomocou PO / MO suborov. Na internete je na to plno tutorialov, pravdepodobne aj v SK/CZ, treba pogooglit.

try to refresh the weather cache: go to Theme Options / Locale, set Weather Data Update Interval (last field) to 0, save and start refreshing your page until you see correct temperature values. Then set Weather Data Update Interval back to its previous value.

Hi,
this is because your server is running an older version of PHP, at least version 5.3 is required. You should contact your hosting provider with this. In meantime, don’t use Events and Events widgets.

I really like the theme, but I have some suggestions to improve it so it makes more a portal for a city:
1: business directory Businesses should be able to advertise for them self. Maby first a simple directory and later on a system where businesses can earn digital coins to get ‘vip’ packages with specials etc? 2: Review system for products / businesses 3: Coupon system for discounts 4: What about a job vacancy system? 5: Selling products by users? 6: advertisment area
This all based on a local city would be a good website. I would even pay for some off the above improvements . Thinking about starting a website for my city, but then it needs some exra’s then only giving news, events and forums..

Hi there, having issue with events list. So, I made page for events named “Wydarzenia” and change URL of this site to “www.ddpolkowice.pl/kino” – as it was written here: http://demos.volovar.net/townpress.wp/documentation/#notices-etc-cpt Then I set sidebar on site, that I want events to be visible (completly different site). It does work – events are visible. But after clicking on one of them, site leads to 404. That’s the screen from event settings site: http://screencast.com/t/pWXO5zU2x

I have been using this great theme for a month or so and had an issue with my site. So I had to delete the them and re-add it/activate it again. Everything seems fine but the LSVR items like the Events and Notices don’t work. When you click on them it takes you to a Page Not Found (404) page. This used to work but now it doesn’t. I’ve tried deleting, re-installing the theme. I’ve tried doing it just for the plugin also but still no luck. www.blackhillsofficials.org

under Theme Options / Locale set Units Format to Imperial. You will probably also have to reset the cache. To do so, set Weather Data Update Interval to 0, then refresh your site until you see correct temperature values and then set Weather Data Update Interval back to previous value.

Love the theme. Exactly what I was looking for. I’ve run into two small problems.
1. When I view my site on mobile devices, the sides of the sliders get cut off. Can these be made to scale so nothing gets cut off?
2. My background image is blue and white. It views correctly on a desktop, but on mobile devices the blue becomes much brighter. The weird thing is that the exact same blue is in the logo and that shows correctly on mobile devices. Thoughts?
I forgot to mention that the background is also getting cut off on mobile devices. Can that scale so the whole thing shows?

background images, whenever in slider or in body, always gets cut on mobile devices, that’s just the nature of responsiveness.
There is not much you can do about image colors being slightly different on your desktop vs your mobile. I guess that your bg image is in .jpg and logo in .png, that’s maybe the reason why logo color doesn’t change on mobile (of course, I do NOT recommend to use .png for bg images). I mean this is a big topic and it isn’t really related to the theme or WordPress at all.

My php memory limit is 64M. It’s not enough?

can you please paste whole error message? There should be file and line number info.
Ad weather: try to manually remove cache files via FTP under wp-content/themes/townpress/ajax – localweather.current.cache.json and localweather.forecast.cache.json files. Also make sure that some sort of 3rd party cache is not causing this (plugin or server cache).
