Let’s see, if image is added as post image, it will open in lightbox by default. Image shortcode has in-built lightbox options as well, that’s why we’d advise you to use it. Just in case you upload a picture using simple “Add Media”, then it won’t be opened in a desired way.

Could you please specify what error is shown or what happens when you try to import demo content? As to edits in .htaccess file – they are important exactly for the for the theme installation. And some servers don’t allow to implement any changes in it or even hide it, but still the theme can be successfully installed even without edits in .htaccess file, demo content should be imported successfully as well. I’d kindly ask you to submit us a personal request with the required credentials, our support agents will investigate your case and help you with demo content import.
