I posted a question yesterday, but it appears to be gone. Not sure what happened. I am trying to figure out how to display other menus like the footer menu as horizontal instead of vertical.

The only menu native to the theme is the main navigation that appears in the slide down panel.

The only other location a menu can be added is the footer widget area. To change the layout of that would require your own custom CSS to float the menu items side by side rather than their current list styling.

Hello there, i’m asking your help since i’m having issue with video background (using a YouTube public link): it simply doesn’t appear on any page, portfolio or article. I do have Visual Composer installed (latest version) and i followed your installation instructions. Any help will be definitely appreciated! All the best, Nicola

Please provide a link to your site.

Hi EugeneO, the video background now just works perfectly! Probably it was a cache problem on my side! Thank you anyway for your prompt reply!

I have some questions to ask.

1. How did you that Ajax “Loadmore” in the blog and the portfolio? is it included in Visual Composer?

2. Also, the icon (class=funky-icon-menuwhich) helps to come back the Blog grid does not work.

3. Is it possible to work The Next-List-Pre(icon) function in Blog in Portfolio, too?

please, give me a comment.

I have been looking into the IE11 bug you posted about. I have implemented a fix but I do not have access to IE11 to properly test it. Can you take a look at this page (http://themes.eugeneo.com/experience-business/) in IE11 and let me know if it is appearing correctly for you? Each section should fill the browser height and the titles should be centered. A screenshot of the page would also be massively appreciated.

Thanks.

It works normally on IE11! But I can see it normally only in the Landing-page(Freshly cut), “about” and “Services” don’t ‘Vertical-Align’. http://imgur.com/a/v852t

Try the most recent version of the theme. With this update you will need to also update the Experience Visual Composer Extension plugin by deleting the existing version on your site and then going to Appearance > Install Plugins to install the latest version included in the theme. After updating the plugin you will need to make changes to your site anywhere you have used the vc_custom_heading element in visual composer. You can read about the necessary changes here:

And here is my second reposted comment.

I have one more question. I am trying to create a staff page. I would love to create something similar to the one on this page. http://paramoredigital.com/people/ I can’t seem to figure out how they did it though. I am confident that they used your theme. I have tried using the grid builder, since that is the only place where I have seen similar hover effects, but I haven’t been able to figure out how they got each staff member to link to his or her own page. All I have been able to create is a media grid, but then I have to upload all of the images for the grid at one time. They may have done some significant coding to get it where it is on this other page. I was just curious if there was a pretty straightforward way of using the grid system in visual composer to accomplish a similar look and functionality. Thanks.

The articles page is the standard Wordpress latest posts pages using one of the post archive layout options in the theme options.

That site was not created using this theme. You can create a custom grid using the Portfolio Custom element from the Experience Visual Composer Extension plugin but the hover effect can’t be changed much.

For help with visual compose and its standard features and elements you should ask via the plugins support as they’ll have a better understanding than me.

If you have already created the staff profiles as a portfolio you can use the Portfolio (Grid) visual composer element and just display the staff portfolio category. That way the grid is created and updated automatically.

So to clarify you have two options:

1.) Create the staff profiles as Portfolio Items added to the same Portfolio Category (e.g. “team”). Then use the Portfolio (Grid) element to output that Portfolio Category on a page or just add a link in your navigation directly to the staff Portfolio Category archive.

2.) Create the grid manually using the Portfolio (Custom) visual composer element. You will have to add and update each grid square manually.

Sorry, I left 2 comments earlier with questions, and I forgot I was logged in under a different account that did not show me as a theme purchaser. So I am going to repost my questions under this account. I will just post them both again. You can ignore the 2 comments above from sethpenley. That is me signed in under a different account. So here is my first question.

Can you tell me what visual composer element you used to create the articles page on the organization demo? I am trying to create a similar look on my blog page, but the closest thing I can find is the “posts grid” element. The problem with using this element is that it forces me to choose how many posts I want to show, but I want to pull them all onto the page. I would be fine initially only showing 4 or 5, and then having a load more button that keeps showing more posts. Can I accomplish this with any of the visual composer elements with your theme and still maintain the same grid look as in the articles section of the organization demo? Thanks.

So I’m pretty much done with the website. Thanks for you help. I just wanted to know how do I replace the footer info at the bottom of the page that says 2016 and my name?

The date and site name are hardcoded but you can add additional text after it via the footer text option in the theme options. Go to the Theme Options screen and then Style > Footer.

Hey Eugene0,

I am having some issues regarding – Appearance > Customization - When I go to change any of the Style features, nothing happens. It seems like the Theme is not in sync with what is going on in the Front end. Could you help me with this problem?

Thanks!

Hmm, still no luck! I must be going crazy

Do the options save at all or are they just not having any effect on the site’s pages?

It sounds like a problem with the dynamic style sheet not being created. There are know problems with some WordPress setups that causes problems when you try to create or update a file programmatically. I’ll look into it more tomorrow.

Are you familiar with using an FTP client?

Can you check the permissions for the wp-content/themes/experience theme directory and look to see if there is a style-dynamic-x.css (where x will be a number)?

If the stylesheet is there can you also check the permission for that file?

Is there any way to change the font size of the H4 heading… is it in theme options somewhere? I don’t see it. If not how do I change with CSS?

You can change font sizes using standard CSS in your child theme’s style.css file. Find the element selector using the Element Inspect tool in your browser and then use the selector to change the font styling.

By the way I love your theme and customer service! Nice work Eugene.

On one of my portfolio pages I have a column with text with only 2 sentences. The issue is when I view it on the iPhone it squeezes all the text into a long vertical column and it doesn’t look good. lol There is definitely some room for the text to take up more width.

In design options for the row I selected no padding horizontally but that didn’t help. Can you help me?

Look on this page http://theuxmethod.com/portfolio/best-pizza-app-2/ If you view the “My Role section” on the iPhone you will see what I mean.

You’ve given the “My Role” Visual Composer text element custom right and left padding. I would recommend removing that and instead giving the Row one of the preset padding values from the “Padding Horizontal” settings.

From what I gather when you give an element a custom padding in VC it is applied on all devices and browser sizes. The preset padding options I have included with the theme dynamic in that they adjust with the responsive stylesheet.

Thanks Eugene, I really appreciate your help.

Hi Eugene,

You ever think of creating a pdf that has all the icons and tells you how to change the color in theme options?

The icons in the theme are a custom font file containing icons curated from https://icomoon.io/. To change the colour you just change the color property in the CSS.

I have been able to make the navigation bar transparent, but when I scroll down and then scroll back up, the navigation bar slides down and briefly displays a black background until I stop and scroll back down. How can I keep the background transparent and keep it stuck to the top of the page?

You can make it always transparent with this:

.site-header::after {
    background-color: transparent !important;
}

You can make it always fixed to the top of the page with this:

.nav-closed .site-header {
    top: 0 !important;
}

I have tried this in browser and it worked ok but I can’t guarantee it wont cause knock on effects to the layout depending no what header type you select so you’ll have to test and further tweak yourself.

Thanks for the quick response.

I would like to turn off pagination (navigation diamonds) on the about page. Is there a way to do that? Thanks for your help.

You can turn them off by disabling the Section Scroll Links option on the page’s edit screen. The option is in the Page Options metabox.

Hi

I’m involved in a non profit organization based in France. We are about to relaunch our website based on WordPress and we would like to buy and use your awesome theme Experience.

Nevertheless, as non-profit we like OpenSource and publish our code publicly on Github. I guess this is not really compatible with the commercial terms of Theme Forest.

Do you think we can find a way to use the Experience as base theme and still display our WordPress code on Github? Here are a few idea I got: • purchasing a simplified version, free of disclosure, no update or support • setting a backlink in the credits of our site

Let me know what do you think. I hope we can find a win-win agreement.

Best regards,

This wouldn’t be possible with the item’s license. You can try searching for items here on Themeforest sold with as 100% GPL.

Type “GPL” into the ThemeForest search and most of the results will be sold as 100% GPL. You can double check this on the item’s desciption page. Immediately above the Add To Cart button it should say “This item is licensed 100% GPL.”

My pagination links are not showing the right text when I roll over them. Can you tell me where that text is coming from so I can make sure the text links are going to the right sections of the page. Thanks for you help.

For a scroll button to be displayed for a Row, first the Section Scroll Links option must be enabled on the page’s edit screen.

Second, each row that you want to appear in the section scroll at the side of the screen needs to have a unique Row ID and a Title (if you want the button to have text when hovered over). Both the Row ID and Title options are located on the Row’s settings window in Visual Composer.

Click on the Row’s edit button and look for the Title text field. Whatever text is entered in the row’s Title field will be shown when the rows button is hovered over.

How do you change the color of the diamond shape nav icons on the right of the screen? Thanks for your help.

Go to the Theme Options screen then Style > Pagination. From there you can set the border, fill and text colour.

Hi I was wondering how I can delete the related project thumbnail/button section at the bottom of each individual portfolio post in the “experience-minimalist-portfolio”

You can disable the related posts in the theme options. Go to the theme options screen and then Portfolio > Portfolio Items then set the “Related Portfolio Items Grid Width” option to “None”.

Hi Eugene,

How do i embed video into a post or portfolio. It seems the only option available in the portfolio settings is ‘Portfolio Item Link’ which directs people away from my page? The videos i need to embed are live streams from livestream.com?

The live stream service should have embed code you can add to the content using a Visual Composer element.

Thanks mate. Thats fine for individual pages but i was hoping to do video posts. Is there anyway of including the embeds within the posts? Cheers for your quick reply!

I don’t understand what you mean. No matter which way you do it at some point you have to add the URL or embed code for each video to each individual portfolio item. So if you want the video to appear on the portfolio item page you would use the Visual Composer element to place it in the content.

Post a link to your site so I can see how you have set it up and what you are trying to achieve. I might be able to offer an alternative solution.

Hello Eugene,

thank you for this great theme (Experience) I am looking for an option to permanently display the menu at the top header bar instead of hiding it. Does the Template support this?

No the theme does not have an option to always show the top menu bar. You would have to modify the CSS and JS yourself to do this.

Hi, I just can´t seem to find where i can customize the header of the homepage, I just want to put a background image or video, can you help me?

The header image used on a particular page is set on the page edit screen. Scroll down below the content editor to the Header Options metabox where you can select the header type (“none”, “image/video” or “slider”). After selecting the header type the relevant options are displayed.

I have a home page with 3 custom headings. Is it possible to put a background image into each of the 3 headings? I have tried to edit text block and row settings put I don’t see an option. (In row settings I see you can add video but not a background image) Can you help? Thanks so much!

Click the Design Options tab along the top of the row settings window. You can then set the background colour, image and image position for the row.

You use this same technique to add background images to any row or column using Visual Composer.

For this to appear correctly each Custom Heading needs to be in it’s own row.
