Is it possible to change the font?

Is there a way to make the Frontpage “Subscribe” button work with mailchimp instead? The “Subscribe” option being front and center seems kinda strange since most users will just get a bunch of text that have no idea about (RSS Feed Details). If that is not an option, what’s the best way to just block the Intro page entirely. I like having it there, but it’s useless in it’s current form.

I was actually able to get some “move” code working by adding a new span before the loop, and changing the link target. It works, but doesn’t scroll so it’s not very smooth. Is that a piece of code you have handy? The changes to the home.hbs.

The cover image is so prominent, you can really tell the loop is there. What would be the alternative to update the home.bbs so the button is something like “Continue Reading” and it scrolls down to where the loop.hbs starts. This get’s the job done, but not with a smooth scroll.

{{> “loop”}}

THANKS for such a quick reply!!!

The post pages basically work the way I would prefer the blog cover work..just an arrow at the bottom to scroll down…simple and effective..this works fine for me

<p class="subscribe"><a href="#content" class="scroll-down square light icon-chevron-down"></a></p> ... {{! The tag below includes the post loop - partials/loop.hbs }} <span id="content" /> {{> "loop"}}

Hi,

do you still need assistance?

Any way to change the size of the posts (they are too big for a news site, I would like to fit 3 posts horizontally instead of just 2) and add excerpt text that looks decent like the one you have for the “about” cover page at the top of the site?

Hi there,

as your question falls into customization category, I can give you just a general guidelines.

If you want to change the size of the posts, you would have to edit the stylesheet (the width of posts, typography, media queries). As for the excerpts, first you would have to edit the loop.hbs file to add post excerpts and then style them accordingly.

If you are not comfortable with editing template files, we can do this for you. Drop us an email at justgoodthemes [at] gmail.com if you are interested.

Kind Regards, Asta

Where do I edit the necessary metadata for the web page — what you’ll see when you do a google search and see the results.

I only see metadata for tags.

So it looks like the issue is with the ghost platform. Please see image below: goo.gl/IejF1X

Sorry for the late response. Thank you for your comments and your feedback.

There are no meta descriptions for posts/pages in the theme demo because I haven’t filled out the meta data fields in Ghost dashboard. I’ve just now added the meta description for the first post for testing reasons (http://curious-jgtghostdemo.rhcloud.com/walking-on-thin-ice/).

As for the duplicate meta tags, as far as I know I cannot control Open Graph meta tags since Ghost generates and adds them automatically.

Thank you, I had changed out the <meta name=”description” content=”{{meta_description}}” /> so it was my fault. It is working correctly.

Hi

I’m considering buying this theme. Just three quick questions since I’m a beginner.

1.If I buy this, does this theme last for a fixed period of time (if so, what is the time frame?) 2. I will be asking a lot of questions with regards to setup (is that okay?) 3. Can I easily change the font size/style/color of the theme and add forms for subscription, etc?

Hi there,

thank you for your comment and interest in Curious theme.

1. Do you mean how long we are planning to support and update it? The time frame is at least 2-3 years. That means we are planning to updated the theme and make sure it’s compatible with the newest Ghost versions during that time.

2. Yes, it is OK. You can ask as many questions as you have, as long as it is not a customization.

3. If you are comfortable with editing template files, it’s quite easy. Also we will give you guidance on how to do it.

Can you please tell me how to remove the effect of the darkening of the cover images in my blog. How to i make it so the images just show in their original brightness?

Thank you

Hi,

to remove the effect of the darkening of the cover images, you need to edit CSS rule on line 1394 in the style.css file located in the assets/css/ folder and remove these declarations:

-webkit-animation: fadeIn 1s ease-in-out;
animation: fadeIn 1s ease-in-out;
opacity: 0.4;

Hi, im needing to make the size of my logo bigger in the top right hand corner of my blog. Can you please tell me the parameters i need to change to make a larger logo visible.

Thank you

Hi there,

the logo image has maximum height specified. You can find and edit this CSS rule on line 919 in the style.css file located in the assets/css/ folder:

.site-title img {
    max-height: 50px;
}

Are you able to add support for discourse for comments? If you can that would be awesome and I will love to buy your theme for my blog.

Hi there,

it’s awesome that your are interested in Curious theme. As for Discourse platform, we haven’t tested it with our Ghost themes. However, I think it is a good idea to support a platform like this so we will test it and add a walkthrough on how to integrate it to the documentation in the future.

For now maybe this link will be useful for you -> http://academy.ghost.org/how-to-use-discourse-for-commenting-on-your-ghost-blog/

Hi, Sir

How could I upload the image for the cover of each part of the website?

Hi there,

here are few links to Ghost documentation which will help you to add the main blog image and cover images for posts, pages and tag archives:

1. How do I upload the main cover image to Ghost blog -> http://support.ghost.org/upload-cover-image-ghost-blog/

2. Post Settings Overview -> http://support.ghost.org/post-settings-overview/

3. Tag Management Overview -> http://support.ghost.org/using-tag-manager/

Hello there! First of all, I am a satisfied German customer of your Curious Ghost theme which bought it in Nov 2015 (9ef01d83-f1b6-4c54-a165-59583b42004a).

Unfortunately, I have the impression that the website using the theme (www.brainsoap.me) is somewhat running slow when loading all the pictures. It needs time to build up and is non-responsive when scrolling at time on my mobile (iPhone 6, Chrome browser) especially when opening the sidebar and closing it again.

Would you mind commenting on this and give advice on how to speed up site and CPU load with your theme?

Thanks a lot! Robert Bozsak

Hi Robert,

I’ve checked your website. Your site loads slowly because the resolution of your images is way too big (5760×3840 px) and the file size of each image is more than 3 MB. You should reduce your images using some image editing program. The images we use on the theme demo have the resolution of 1800×1200 px and it is sufficient. Also, before uploading always compress your reduced images. For this you can use a service like https://tinypng.com/.

Best Regards, Asta

Hey there, great theme, one wee thing, it’s showing someone else’s instagram feed at the bottom of my page and I can see no way to fix it, or remove it. Help :)

Hi there, thank you, it’s nice to hear you like it. As for your question, to display Instagram photos you need to change the default instagram_user_id and instagram_access_token on lines 20, 21 in the default.hbs file located in the main theme folder (Ghost/content/themes/curious). You can find more information in the documentation included with the theme. Let me know if you get stuck.

Kind regards, Tomas

Thanks loads for the prompt reply. All sorted, right after posting, I RTFMd: http://richmulholland.ghost.io/

Where can I find the necessary documentation for integrating mailchimp with the subscribe button

Hi there,

if you want to integrate MailChimp with the subscribe button on the main page, open home.hbs file located in the theme directory and replace {{@blog.url}}/rss/ on the line 17 with your MailChimp signup form URL.

To get your MailChimp signup form URL log in to your MailChimp account. From your account Dashboard, click Lists in the navigation menu. Find the list you want to connect to your website or create a new list. Click the drop-down menu next to your list and choose Signup forms. Select General forms and copy the Signup form URL.

This is a follow up to my earlier comments on this theme. I was having issues setting up Disqus and Instagram feeds, which was down to me being a complete beginner, and the developer was the most patient and helpful person you could wish for, answering email and my questions in the comments box. Being able to tweak the code was very easy once I was shown how. Again, this is an excellent theme, elegant and aesthetically pleasing.

Hi. This is an excellent theme, elegant, visually stunning. Being visually impaired it meets all the requirements I was looking for. Well done!

My question is a basic one hopefully: How do I make the image / post graphics square to match my images? This is something that I would be wanting to do permanently as all my photography is in the square format/

Thanks in advance…. Robert

Hi Tomas. Thanks for the prompt response. I’ve been thinking over the ‘square image’ I was considering and have decided to leave the theme as it is. Why mess with something that works just fine! Best, Robert.

Hi again Tomas. I’ve been trying to configure the Instagram feed and the Disqus id but I can’t find anything related to either in the ‘default.hbs.’ file, all there is is a few lines of code. Can you advise me on where I’d find the file or code to edit?

Thanks in advance,

Robert

Hi Robert,

you need to change the default values of disqus_shortname, instagram_user_id, instagram_access_token in the default.hbs on line 19-21. You can find the code responsible for Disqus comments and Instagram feed on lines 41 and 54 respectively in the custom.js file located in assets/js/ folder.

Hope this helps.

Tomas

Hi,

I get this error message in the console:

Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found) for the address http://domain/rss/2

For some reason there is no page 2? I did not have to look more carefully at the code.

Hi,

there is currently no proper way to generate the tag cloud and latest posts widgets in Ghost. There is the get helper which would allow to do this but it is still in beta and should not be used in production. So for now I’ve implement a temporary solution and the tag cloud and latest posts list is generated from the RSS feed. The Ghost RSS feed is paginated (15 posts per page) and since Ghost 0.7.3 404 error is returned if the RSS page does not exist. You can see the piece of code responsible for generating these widgets on line 84 in custom.js located in assets/js/ folder. As soon as the get helper is available to use in production, I will update the theme.

Is there a way of knowing when the theme is updated? Get an email notification?

Hi there,

you should get notification from themeforest when the theme is updated.

Tomas

My site is semi-functional when it’s on https. Chrome gave a warning that says “This page is trying to load scripts from unauthenticated sources”. The site bar and the footer widgets (latest posts, instagram, and tags) didn’t work. Halp?

Hi there,

can you give me a link to your site?

Is there a way I could contact you via email? I’ll pass you the link via email.

Yes, sure. You can drop me a link at justgoodthemes[at]gmail.com.

hey there, just purchased the curious theme ( great work btw ) and i’m also having issues with the instagram integration. I’m setting this up for a client, and i have created a new instagram account for them and followed the instructions given in your documentation, but the instagram api is not returning any data. is this feature broken now? or is it just a matter of waiting for instagram to approve my application? if it will take weeks to approve i will just replace the instagram widget with something else. i read your answer to “thetypographist’s” question and i would imagine that other users are also running into this issue. what is the average time needed to approve an application under the new api rules? thanks

Hi,

the plugin that I use to display Instagram feed requires only the username and client_id. After Instagram updated their API, all new apps created on or after Nov 17, 2015 require a valid access_token. That is why for all new apps the Instagram feed is not displayed. I’m currently testing another plugin and will update the theme as soon as possible (most likely by the end of the week).

As far as I know the review time is about 1-2 days but it’s quite difficult to get your app approved. And if you leave your app in Sandbox Mode, it will let you access only your own content and only the last 20 pictures. So displaying the Instagram feed is getting very limited..

thanks for your reply!

Hi

The logo doesn’t seem to be responsive. When I reduce the width of teh browser, the site is responsive, but the logo remains big, around 550px.

Here’s the link to my blog: blog.tinkerlust.com

Thanks

Hey it’s alright. I just set width: 100% for the image in mobile-header

Hi, you’re using the other author’s theme. You need to contact him for support.

Hello JGT, I’m about to make the purchase of this theme, and I just want to know if you have some sort of ticket system for support of this theme, like ticksy? I’ve worked with other authors, and while I don’t foresee much support needed, having that system is much more efficient than using comments here.

Look forward to your response.

Thanks,

Nick

Hi Nick,

sorry for the late response. No, we do not have a ticket support system but we are thinking about this. At the moment we provide support via email or comments.

HI, Enjoying the theme but latest posts and tags are ‘blank’ in chromium and firefox browsers. Any idea on the problem? https://www.neilhoughton.com/

I have lost latest posts and tags again…also there is no rss feed available.

oops…seems like this happens when password protection is enabled…ignore.

Hi,

happy to hear that you solved your issue. Happy blogging!
