there is no WooCommerce compatibility beyond general 3rd party plugin compatibility. So no specific styling, files or anything like that.

Hi, if I localize your theme via .po/.mo files and do an upgrade of the theme from your site, I would need to backup .po/.mo files before update and copy them into the theme after update, right?

if you’ve placed your translated .po / .mo files inside parent theme, then yes. You can place them in child theme’s language folder to prevent losing it on parent theme update.

I was using Loco Translate plugin for translations, but it doesn’t apply those translations. I have also created (Croatian) hr.po and hr.mo files and copied them over to child’s theme folder inside “languages” folder. No luck.
hr.mo is not a correct name of the file, it should be hr_HR.mo / .po. I’ve just tested putting my .mo file into child theme’s language folder and it does work.

Try to disable Loco then. Feel free to share your URL so I can take a look (make sure to copy hr_HR.po / . mo into child theme / languages as I will take a peek at those).

images can’t be linked as they are just background images. You can link only the text inside those slides.

Is there any way to include either 1) a secondary menu in the header to the left of the search (or map link, if enabled). I know you can put the primary menu in the header under the search, but I would like something like this: http://www.villageofglencoe.org or 2) is it possible to just put an address and telephone number in that position (to the left of search)? If these are not possible out of the box, are there any plugins or fairly easy code modifications that might make it possible? Thanks.

sorry, but both of those changes would require custom coding. I doubt there is a plugin for that since such changes would require tight integration with the rest of the theme. Your best bet is to hire a freelancer for that I am afraid.

I guess you mean right sidebar. First, make sure you have some widgets assigned to that sidebar under Appearance / Widgets, then just select this sidebar as Right Sidebar under Page Settings / Sidebars when editing the page. Feel free to share your URL.

With the custom color scheme we are using, it seems that the submenus do not have the background color populated. Is there a way to change this so we can see these submenu items?

Hi Lubos, this didn’t seem to fix anything for us. We currently have:

Under “CSS Code Paste your CSS code here.” In the TownPress Theme Options
I see, there is a small bug which makes your custom skin load after custom CSS code, which leads into ignoring this custom code. I will fix it in the next update, meanwhile, this should work:

Little off topic: I take it on the account of this still being in development, but your site is making insane number of request for 3rd party assets. You should deactivate any plugins you are not using, because it just makes your site slower an it eats up the bandwidth. To see what I am talking about, open your site in Chrome, enable Developer Tools and click on Network tab. Just a small pro tip:)

The documents in the list are all referencing the development server, despite showing correctly in the documents window.
Is there something that needs to be updated? We have tried removing the document row and adding it back in, which results in the same problem.

I am afraid you will have to re-upload those documents to your current site. Their URLs are saved as absolute URLs so if you’ve migrated your site from dev to live they didn’t changed. The other solution will be to programmatically mass replace the URLs to a correct ones, but something like that would require a skilled developer who is familiar with WordPress and databases.

any modern browser should work. Ideally Chrome or Firefox. If you are new to WordPress, please read through these articles. It is also important to read the whole theme documentation.

The TownPress Theme Breaks Visual Composer via a bug in Redux. See the screenshot below. Visual Composer works when using another Theme. It appears a JavaScript error is thrown that interferes with frontend plugins. This is a critical bug.

For anyone having the same problem. I had to manually update the /wp-content/plugins/redux-framework/ReduxCore/assets/js/redux.min.js file with the latest from here: https://github.com/reduxframework/redux-framework/tree/master/ReduxCore/assets/js Then update to the latest visual composer (official update) Visual Composer is now visible again!

that’s weird because everything seems to work fine for me with the latest Redux (3.6.0) at least on regular pages. Also what do you mean by “visual composer (official update)”? The latest version of the theme (1.3.2) contains latest version of the VC (4.10.2).

Although the redux plugin via WordPress announces itself as 3.6.0 the redux.min.js file is different (at least on my instance) and doesn’t break like the previous redux.min.js. The latest version of VC is 4.11.2.1 so maybe that is why you can not recreate this issue.
You are right, they didn’t send notification about this update and that’s why I wasn’t aware of it. But still, I’ve just updated to 4.11.2.1 and VC works fine for me. Maybe there was some caching issue with redux.min.js after you’ve updated Redux?

I seem to have run out of custom sidebars, at 50. Is there a way to increase that number?
I realize I did not follow your instructions well on naming the sidebar with a unique simple ID, I used hyphens in the IDs. Changing their IDs will disengage them I think.

you need to define post’s excerpt. When you are editing the post, click on Screen Option in upper right corner, check Excerpt and then scroll down and add your text into Excerpt field.

1.) do you have Contact Form 7 plugin installed? If yes then you can edit contact forms under admin / Contact. Crate your form there and then set it in Contact Form 7 element in Visual Composer.
2.) You can add Events element via Visual Composer to the page and remove Articles element.

Pretty sure contact form 7 is trhere. I think I have to wait until the site gets live with the correct domain name before the mail form will work. Anyway, how do I get the article to show an excerpt, and photo on the home page? also how do i get several articles to show?
Ok, wait. So the issue is that the email doesn’t work, not that you can’t find the field where to fill up the email address? Because when I am looking at your Write to Mayor page, the contact form IS there, which means it has to be visible under admin / Contact. Please try to be more descriptive because I am afraid we are not quite following each other.
Ad articles: Edit Articles element in your front page. You can set number of elements there. To display their excerpts, make sure they do have defined excerpts (you will find the excerpt field under content editor when you edit the article, if you don’t see it, click on Screen Option in upper right corner and enable it). To show article’s photo, you need to define this photo as Featured image of that article.
It looks like you’ve inserted a WP gallery into Gallery content which is not a way how to create a gallery. Please add all your gallery images under Gallery Settings as per this image. Content should be left for text description of the gallery only.
Ad thumbs size: You can do it under Theme Options / Galleries with Number of Columns (Detail) option

do you already have the page (for example by importing demo content) or are you asking how to do it from the scratch?
Anyway, if you already have something, please share your URL so I can see the current state. If you are doing it from the sratch, you can use predefined VC template and then edit the Contact Form 7 element to match your contact form defined under Contact (and edit Team Member element too of course).

I am still having trouble setting up the contact form. Contact 7 form is installed. It says there are syntax errors in the form fields. But I have the same tahgs as the ones shown above. From [your-name] This field has syntax errors and Subject [your-subject] This field can be empty depending on user input. The site is almost ready to golive but I need to get the email form working. Any ideas? Is there somewhere I set the email outgoing server settings?

I got the emal form to work. Still trying to figure out mail chimp? Another Question, I have four events. But am only seeing three in the sidebar widget, even though I have 6 selected in the widget? And I only see 3 events on the event base page although there should be four?

sure, under Theme Options / Locale switch Units Format to Imperial. Then set Weather Data Update Interval to 0, refresh front-end several times until you see correct values and then set it back to your previous value.

you need to deactivate and remove current version of VC, then you will be prompted to install the latest version which is bundled with the theme. This is a known bug with VC, there is unfortunately nothing I can do with this.

It seems your server is running older version of PHP. Recommended PHP version for WordPress is 5.6. You will probably have to contact your hosting provider if you want to upgrade to higher version.

I got a lot done with the documentation, but I have one more question: If I write a post and categorize it as “notices” it shows up on the main page feed, however, if I write a notice on the notice page it doesn’t. Is there any way to have notices and events authored in those categories display on the front page, or do I have to make a duplicate blog post? Oh, and it’s at prescottks.us , if you would like to take a look!
You have set a default post list as your front page, so only posts will be displayed in the main content. There is no way how you can “mix” notices, events of other post types into this post feed without some custom coding. So you have basically two options:
1.) Display your Notices / Events via appropriate widgets (LSVR Notices, LSVR Events etc.) in the left or right sidebar
2.) Create a custom page where you can display Posts, Events, Notices, or anything else in a main content via appropriate Visual Composer element (Articles element for posts, Notices element for notices etc.). Then just set that page as your home page under Settings / Reading.
Or just mix up both approaches like I did in the demo site. Display some post types via Visual Composer element in main content and others via widgets in sidebars.
Me again. I am looking at the site on different machines now, and I find that on widescreen displays, especially, the content has wide margins with nothing in them. Is there no way to set the 3 column widths (left sidebar, posts, right sidebar) to percentages so that there isn’t that emptiness on the sides?
You can try this Custom CSS which will make the page wider:
