first make sure you are running latest version of the theme (1.4.0) with all plugins updated to their latest version. If problem still remains, make sure your PHP memory limit is set to at least 64MB, ideally 128 MB. Here is how to do it. Also, check if your server is running PHP 5.4 or higher.

Our mobile sliders are not scaling correctly. They are being severely cropped and cut off. On the demo site, the mobile sliders seem to scale much better (almost the entire image is visible and no content is cut off). How do we get our mobile sliders to scale properly so that much more of the image is visible and our content is not cut off? Thanks in advance for your help!

images in the demo are 2000×1200px. You can use similar resolution or at least similar aspect ratio for your images to have scaling similar to the one seen in the demo. So it is in the choosing of right images, there is really nothing else. You can also change the slider height by editing the Slider element in Visual Composer I am using height of 400px in the demo.

Hi, I am fairly new to this and I am unable to locate/extract the detailed Guide to setting up Townpress. Thank you for the documentation. 2nd question; Basically I would like to hide the front page menu behind the word ‘menu’ until it is clicked on. A second click to hide it again. This happens when the dashboard is up but not on full page. Thanks Brian
You mean to have the same menu behaviour as in the mobile view. Sorry, but that won’t be possible without some non-trivial code customization and you will have to hire a freelancer for that.

Sorry to jump into this debate about events not showing in the sidebar – looks like there might be a bug in events widget, because it happened to me too. few days ago. My events were not displayed in sidebar. I sorted it out, to just go to every page with events widget in sidebar and click on “Show Excerpt”. Now my events were shown on the pages, with excerpts, of course. Then I went back to unclick “Show Excerpt” and my events are displayed on the page as I wanted to. Hope this helps. P.S.: theme was purchased by our web site designer.

Anyway, you said “go to every page with events widget in sidebar and click on “Show Excerpt””. “Show Excerpt” is a widget option. There is no such option for individual pages. I guess you meant to check “Show Excerpt” option for each Events widget, right? It does sounds weird, but again, hard to help without testing it myself.
Don’t hesitate to get in touch with me in the future so I can take a look. But you will have to use the account with which you have purchased the theme (your designer’s one in this case).

Yes, I ment you have to click and un-click “Show Excerpt” in widget options. But since you can have different sidebars for different pages, you have to do this on every sidebar where you have events widget.
It sure seems weird, but id did work for me.

you mean no events are displayed in Events widget or only new ones are not there?
1.) If Events widget doesn’t work at all then make sure your server is running PHP 5.4 or newer. If you have no idea how to check this info, get in touch with your hosting provider.
2.) If only new Events are not there, then make sure this widget is not set to display events only from certain category under Appearance / Widgets.

Hi, my server is running PHP 5.6. All the other widgets seem to work OK apart from the Events one.
In addition to this, how would I remove the Map button in the top right corner of the page?
I’ve replied with two possible solutions, what about 2.) ?
Ad map: just disable the map under Theme Options / Header Settings with Header Google Map option.
I checked settings and there is no option set to display certain events.

Just wanted to know if there’s a way to restrict content beyond the forums. I have used membership plugin and a “restrict content” plugin but none can restrict those base pages, even if the restriction only allows Administrators. The settings just do not affect those pages. Do you know of any way? Event attempt with the “WP membership” plugin but no luck.

which pages do you mean exactly? If you are talking about regular pages (created under Pages) then a 3rd party plugin should work. But if you mean pages like Notices, Galleries, Events or Documents, those are custom post types, so you need plugin which can manage that.

Yes, I meant the custom post type pages. The issue is that, you can’t effectively restrict them. You can restrict a specific post if you go into and select the appropriate restriction based on the plugin you have. What I can’t do is restrict an entire page of posts. I would actually like to restrict the base pages like www.sample.com/notices. These base pages (slugs), as you know list the posts of the different post types. I would like to restrict the list to logged in members. I feel I can only do so if I can restrict the base pages. The issue is that any plugin I install for this purpose can potentially only restrict pages that it can “see”. When I select the page I want, it’s effectively restricting the “notices-base” version of it and not the actual base page “notices”, because that page is not exactly an actual page.
I understand. Well, restricting “*-base” page is not an option. As you said, that is not an actual page which displays those posts, it is used only to configure that archive page.
Have you tried this plugin? It claims it supports custom post types. Or try to google something like “wp restrict custom post archive”, maybe there will be some small code snippet which can do that, or another 3rd party plugin.
The thing is that this is a plugin territory feature. I did my part on the theme side by defining those post types in a standard WP way. There is not much else I can do unfortunately.
Thank you for responding promptly. I appreciate your feedback. Yes, it is unfortunate but it’s not a deal breaker. You guys have done a tremendous job with this theme. Having said that, I’ve come across a very peculiar problem. All of the custom post types are displaying just perfectly on their respective pages. Every one of them except events. It’s strange really. I can’t seem to fine anything that would prevent the events listing from showing up on the /events page. When you go to the events section and click on an event in the backend, it will show the right link (/events/my-event) and when you click on the event link itself, it seems to display the event just fine. But if you click on the “events” in the breadcrumbs and end up on the /events page, there’s no listing. In fact, the events widgets also display nothing more than “there are no events at this time”. I used the “upcoming event” widget as well as the regular event. For whatever reason, events are the only ones not populating. What do you think?

Just for the record, if anyone else is having issues with events widget: it shows only future events. So if your event has start date set in the past (for example after you’ve imported demo content), it won’t be displayed, since it is treated as the past event. So either change dates of those existing events into the future, or create new ones.

I am going off computer for today. I will be available tomorrow. Meanwhile do double check your API key under your Google account settings to make sure the it is allowed to be used for your domain. When the map is not working, then in 99% cases it is caused by wrong API key configuration in your Google account.

Before I start great theme.
My client wanted her logo (leigh parish council logo) to be in the top & middle of the page like a banner, to which I have completed using visual composer, see link:
http://www.bluepixeldesign.co.uk/clients/leigh/this works fine, but when I view any posts or notices I can’t add any extra content to the top of the page, my client still needs the logo to be at the top of the page in the same position, is there any way I can edit the posts and notices page, see below:

something like that shouldn’t be done via page builder at all. It should be custom coded via child theme using header.php file. You will need to hire someone familiar with WP coding to do it properly.
Or probably much more easier way will be to just upload the logo in the standard way via Theme Options and then use the following Custom CSS to center it:
.header-content-inner { text-align: center; }
.header-branding { float: none; }

If you want to have it in the same position as in your example (in the center column), then it gets much more complicated. Definitely not something you can do without custom coding.

also, is it possible to have the logo to appear on just certain pages, I can’t seem to find any option to turn off the main logo within individual page options (I can see the logo size options but no disable logo. Or is this something that can be done by CSS.

2.) You mean to have it only on some pages? Theoretically it should be possible via some CSS, but it is not a matter of just single CSS line. It really depends on the pattern itself (on which pages you want to display it and on which not). Anyway, something like that is not covered in theme support. I am glad to help with some simple CSS snippets like I’ve shared in previous reply, but this one seems to be a bit beyond that unfortunately.
hi i have just come up with a simple solution, set the small logo size to 1px (basically can’t be seen), and make the larger logo normal size and set options to all pages large and then on the individual pages that i don’t want a logo set the logo to small size. this seems to work. Just thought I would share it with you incase someone else asks about disabling the logo. thanks for all your help
Nice find! You can improve it be hiding the small logo via CSS like this:

Hello, I’ve recently Purchased your excellent Theme and am presently working on a design implementation. However, I’ve encountered the strangest and most unexpected problem: Pagination. I can’t seem to find any way of splitting a Wordpress Page content into multiple pages, i.e. using <!-nextpage-> etc. In this case, the client has multiple telephone numbers, so I need to put breaks into the phone number list for the Visitor to click Page 2, 3 etc. I’ve tried various plugins to make this easy, the pages Break but without any navigation button display. Can you advise? Thank you

I’ve checked the code and it seems I’ve forgotten to add this feature for pages. Right now it works for regular posts only. I will add it in the next update next week. Meanwhile, you can try to do it yourself if you don’t mind touching the code a bit.
Open page.php file in theme’s root folder (it should be possible to open it via Appearance / Editor where you can edit theme’s core files).
Put the following code on lines 16 and 25 (after line with ”...the_content()...” code in both cases):

Just a quick note to thank your for your update advice, which has worked. However, as a courtesy I wanted to let you know that you have updated your Theme twice since I’ve done this amendment and on each occasion your update has only inserted the code on Line 16 and not added it on Line 25 (as advised). Consequently I have had to amend the settings twice to include the extra line of code to ensure the Page Numbers appear correctly. You may wish to add this to your list of things to do for the next update?

I’ve done my best to remove breadcrumbs from home page and pages in general. What I found in Documentation file was Page settings in Content section. Content is under Header and above Sidebars (in theme options) and I don’t have Content in sidebar in theme options, only have: 1. Header settings 2. Footer settings 3. Sidebar settings It looks like I’m missing the whole Content section under theme options – I don’t see it.
Any idea? Thanks for your help. p.s. just want to disable any breadcrumbs on any pages… I can do it in code as well, just please give me a hint. Cheers

sorry, but you will have to hire a freelancer for something like that. Or try this article and use “lsvrnotice” instead of ”$post_type”. However, I CAN’T guarantee it won’t break your site.

Hi, I managed to remove it from the dashboard menu so my client won’t see it. Unregistering the post seems indeed risky… Would be nice in a next release to bring more flexibility allowing us to add and remove custom post types.
