Hey so to be clear, unlike j2 where you can select and apply different skins on the fly, j3 you must dedicate to one skin otherwise you must export and reimport again? You cannot apply different skins on the fly in j3? Ill be waiting for a few more demos and going from there I think, you guys make the most out of the demos.

It’s the same as J2, not sure where the confusion is.
You can create a million different skins in J3 and apply whichever you want as active with one click. But the skin does not represent your entire design. The are just a set of global options which are not reusable (like modules) and they now use styles, which are in fact reusable across modules too, so everything is dynamic and works together.
The demo import, however, is a different thing. When you import a demo (both in J2 and J3) you get everything from that demo, the entire look with styles, modules, variables, skin, etc. so it overwrites your current design state, just like in J2. It wouldn’t look the same if you import just the a module or the skin and leave out its corresponding styles, gotta get everything in one go.
So before importing a different demo save your entire theme design from Journal > System > Import/Export, which you can import back later. You can always save multiple states of your design as different SQL files, those represent the entire design, and can always be imported with one click at any time.

HI, Is it right that when you import your demo for Journal 3 it deletes any skins you have made for your store. I have been working on a skin, saved it, imported the demo and my skin has gone, should that happen.

Hi, yes, a skin is just a small part of a demo. A demo is comprised of many different components (skins, modules, styles, variables) so when you import a demo you get everything so it looks the same. If you import just the skin but keep everything else as custom there will be a mismatch since all tools are imported into one another.
So you must save your custom designs from Journal > System > Import/Export as a file which you can import back later.

Hi, sure but since Journal 3 is quite advanced it could be complicated so make sure you are familiar with it and comfortable using it.

Hi, sure if you know how to recreate that look in the new J3 engine it’s possible, for the most part, cause not all options are the same.

Hi, 3.0.0 should come by the end of the month with at least 3 new demos.
However, by popular demand from our customers, we will recreate some of the demos from J2 in J3 (similar, they can’t be exactly the same).
All in all there will be lots of demos both new and old to choose from, but we won’t put a date on it, we’ll do them as time permits.

Hi, you can’t use special characters like #. Besides, it’s not a good idea to name your variables by their color names, use normal words to describe them.
Also, not sure why the Journal logo looks like that in your admin. what browser are you using?
Is that Windows? Weird, because it’s not supposed to be that bold, I mean the J is ok but the rest of the letters are much thicker so it’s not ok, should look the same weight like this: http://take.ms/z99NA

It’s not an issue and doesn’t interfere with anything, just doesn’t look good, the logo should be the same, I tried Windows with latest chrome in OC2 and it looks ok: http://take.ms/9q9oa

You most likely have the very first version of the logo which as initially svg but we have since switched to png, which should make it look the same everywhere since it’s an image. Try to clear all browser caches.
Yes, that was it. I have a retina monitor and I was always seeing “logo-2x.png” which looks normal. Will update that 1x logo in RC9 coming soon. Thanks!

Hi, In Journal 3 using the Classic Header it is possible to set a maximum width for the search box. I would also like to set a maximum width for the cart, to match the search box, but I cannot find the setting…is this possible and if so how?

In Journal 2 for the Sale product label youhave the option of selecting % or text. This seems to be have removed from Journal 3. Is this going to be reinstated? Also you could make the label round. This no longer seems to be an option.

This is upgrade from your old themes, everybody using your themes they all have to move. Maybe there were a update they can export blog only from old one to new j3 maybe better because you can’t help export fron your 19,137 user who buy your themes
Hi, there isn’t an option that does this automatically, you have to export and edit the database file and import it into J3.
If you know how to do that fine, go ahead, but if not you need to file a ticket on our support page like the rest of our users who renewed support already.
Everybody likes free stuff, we get that, but you’re wrong assuming all of our 19K customers have no support and need help here in the comments. Lots of people have already renewed support to show their appreciation for Journal 3 and are filing tickets when they have questions.
There’s a small percentage of users (relatively speaking) who haven’t renewed. So providing solutions here for which people have filed tickets would simply undermine their renewal, wouldn’t it?
Great thing about support renewal is that it doesn’t provide you with just a single solution, you get 6 months of 24h reply assistance to any theme related questions. We think that’s more than fair considering the current theme price, which will be raised in about a week or two.

I like the product comparison feature and icons that get presented on the desktop version but for the mobile version you click on compare icon and then there is nowhere on the screen where you can compare unless you happen to go to some other page where the compare button is available. If a customer selects “compare” there should be a compare button available from every screen
