Hello Denis, We tested an all browsers and the Back button works. In any case try resetting your browser settings and clearing the cache

fisrt question: what is the page url? do you have it online?

You can change ‘grenada_portfolio’ from url by going to theme options -> portfolio options and entering your own custom slug. After saving the changes go to Settings -> Permalinks and press ‘Save’ to refresh them.

You should avoid using ’/’ . It should be a slug, for example ‘portfolio’

HTML5 Video formats mp4 and webm I thinks has been widely adopted by now and there are optimization techniques that can increase the loading speed. And it depends also on the server you are the loading the video from (a CDN perhaps).

Thanks however still wondering if Vimeo embeds and fullscreen video in replacement of self hosted is supported? My client likely won’t want to self host or setup a CDN as they have hundreds of videos on Vimeo already. Is it a case of editing the theme files and replacing the HTML5 video tag with a Vimeo embed tag?

So what you’re saying is while Grenada supports self-hosted videos, but pending Vimeo membership level we can access the mp4 directly from Vimeo, and paste the mp4 Vimeo link directly into the theme/page builder options and it should work?

If they do not have Vimeo Premium etc, we’ll need to self-host the videos as we cannot access the mp4 directly and pasting Vimeo’s iframe code in won’t work?

That’s correct. In the vimeo doc link I’ve sent, you have access to what they call ‘third party player links’ with a special membership. Third-party links can be played through a separate player or within an HTML5 video tag. HTML5 video tag is what we use for videos in showcase slider and hero section, so it should work.

One extra follow-up question – I am now in the process of embedding my clients’ videos into their site, but unsure which will give me the best cross-browser/device functionality plus best performance for streaming:

1) Grenada Hosted Video

2) Vimeo Embed (Gutenberg Block)

3) Vimeo Embed (WPBakery Block)

As my client has a Vimeo Premium account, I am able to directly link to each .mp4 file from Vimeo, and let Vimeo do the heavy lifting on streaming and hosting.

I am using Grenada Hosted Video for this, however it also asks for a .webm link for Firefox/Chrome, and Vimeo does not support .webm as a file format (only .mp4).

I would prefer to use Grenada Hosted Video as it is better responsively (the Vimeo Embed seems to have a set pixel width/height which is difficult to override), however I still need a way to link to a backup .webm file for browsers that prefer that.

Would you suggest keeping the above, plus adding:

1) Self hosting a .webm format of each video and linking to that, either on a CDN or the client’s standard hosting account.

2) Just use the Vimeo Embed, which does away with needing separate .mp4 + .webm formats, and figuring out a way to make the embed more responsive.

One final question. I have enabled Cloudflare CDN via CPanel – is the final step simply to upload the .webm videos via the Wordpress Media Uploader and linking directly to it? I’m unsure how Cloudflare takes over the caching/hosting improvements of videos. Or is there a specific way I need to upload these .webm files (via the host FTP, via Cloudflare directly) etc.

Hi there, the videos can be anywhere on the web/CDN. As long as you have a direct link to it you can paste it in the self hosted videos url field.

Does that mean simply uploading the .webm files via the Wordpress “Media” section in the Dashboard? I’ve never used a CDN before, so figured there might be an extra step or different way of hosting. I have the CDN enabled in CPanel/hosting and have pointed my DNS records to the CDN – is that all I need to do? Thanks
