Open js/scripts.js and replace #111 with #000 at line 223 and line 232

Do JS edits with this theme also work in a child theme?
Yes, but you need to enqueue all the scripts with exactly the same handler as in the parent theme in child theme’s functions.php
At the end you enqueue the modified copy of scripts.js (stored somewhere in child theme folder).
