Excellent work! great looking theme and functionality. Only a small thing is bothering me… all the pages are in html and only the contact page is in saved in php. I know i could save all the pages in php but I really hate php. There are allot of great contact pages in html that use a little JS and an external php file to make it work. Why not use that instead of making one page in php? :)

Best regards,

Sander

Thank you Sander ! :)

The contact page included in GearBox is a practical mix of HTML5 ’s native form validation/other features + JS/AJAX + PHP —the contact form even works without JS turned on or on HTML5 unsupported browsers.

PHP is widely supported and it’s just a server side process.. don’t know why you hate it :) . If you prefer to use a CMS like WP , Drupal or EE , in most cases you’ll have to use .php in template files.

Working with GearBox is really easy .. to set up the contact form , you’ll only need to add your desired email address , no need to touch any other PHP or JS code.

Also the contact form will be improved in a future version with spam protection etc. and I’m already working on the brand new demention WP framework so I think it’s better to stick with PHP .

Hi,

I would like to know if the management of the blog and the comments is included php in the theme there.

Thanks

No.. not out-of-the-box—you’ll need to port this to a CMS like Wordpress to make them work as you need (which is really easy). The contact page is the only page that includes some PHP code.

I just wanted to say that Lakshan did an excellent work with this template, and his tech support is outstanding… I’ve just rated 5 stars, thx!

Wow ! Thanks so much Daniel

I just wanted to say I’m building a site with this template right now. It’s great and Lakshan has answered all my email questions (which have been a few) very quickly, and very helpfully. Recommended for sure! S

Thanks Stephen , really appreciate your input.

Hello, excellent template!

I modified a lot the css from the version 1.0 but now I want to update it to the latest… would you be so kind to send me a link to download the untouched 1.0 version so I can compare them, identify the differences and then implement them in the latest version?

Thanks.

I’ve sent base.css and custom.js right into your inbox. When updating , keep the following things in mind..

*)you won’t need to change any of the HTML files
*)If you haven’t changed anything other than base.css , my suggestion is to download a fresh copy of the latest version and replace the HTML files with your ones and update base.css carefully.
*)please read the changelog to see newly added files/functions

Cheers
Lakshan

Thx a lot for your quick answer! I’ll try it :)

Beautiful template! I am beginning to build pages but am wondering if the HTML doctype should be more specific? As far as I recall, this design uses HTML 5 . Is it necessary to specify that, as I have always done in the past, but maybe it’s not as necessary anymore… Advise?

Thanks :) No , DTD is not required by the HTML5 specs so <!DOCTYPE html> is the way to go—also it’s case insensitive.
Cheers !

Hi, there are still problems with filtering the gallery with IE. It does not work. Even with your own live demo :-) Sometimes it works but just after reloading the page a few times

Checked it again in IE ( 9 , 8 and even 10preview—tried clearing the cache , refreshing the page again and again etc.) and I can tell you it works perfectly.

The filtering function works only after ALL the gallery images are loaded so If you try to use the filtering function while the images are loading (even one of them), it doesn’t work at all.

You sent me a mail about this issue , and I’ve replied you asking more info about the situation , but I still didn’t get a reply - it’s in my “unsolved” emails - I thought you understand the “filtering works after all images are loaded” fact.

If you find any issue , don’t hasitate to contact me again and stay with me until it get fixed :)

Thanks
Lakshan

Hello I want to buy this template, but how do you install it?

can you email me to oscar@sustentables.com.mx

thank you!

Thanks for your interest :) This is a Site template so you will either need to port this to a CMS or use by directly uploading it to your hosting space.

To use GearBox directly as a HTML template , You’ll need to have the basic knowledge of HTML and CSS (GearBox is really easy to use ,though) , or if you prefer to port this to a CMS like WordPress or Drupal you may also need the basic understanding of their platforms and PHP .

If you can email me (from our ThemeForest profile) some info about your knowledge level of Web standards/languages and what kind of website you’re going to have , I can suggest you whether a site template is right for you , and an easy way to use it.

Thanks again
Lakshan

First, I’m really enjoying working with the GearBox framework; it’s awesome! Thanks for your great work.

I have noticed an issue with the tooltips when viewing on an Android phone screen. When selected or hovered over, the tool tip bubble does not align properly with edge of screen and part of the message is cut off. I was able to replicate this same bug in Chrome, Safari and Firefox by shrinking the window size.

I specifically notice this issue on your pricing table example page.

Is this an easy fix?

Thanks!

Branden

I’m glad you like it Branden :)

That’s because the tooltips don’t position itself dynamically (for now). You may have already noticed that the dropdowns in the main navigation change their position dynamically by determining the space available — The same technique will be added to tooltips.

Hopefully in the next version . It’s not a big deal , but as I’m pretty busy these days ,it can take A BIT more time :)

(Tooltips and many other functionalities will be improved in the next versions—if you can see the code , I have already commented it there)

Regards
Lakshan.

PS—If you find any other bug , please make sure you let me know.

It seem to not work on the demo http://dl.dropbox.com/u/46258785/gearbox

Same result as yesterday, the shoot i sent you. I have to touch a blank area to let the pictures to be displayed.

I’ve added it to my To-Do list and I’ll do my best to fix this issue as well as any other issues related to GearBox/Our items—just need a bit more time.

Once I find a fix , I’ll release an update and mention it in the changelog.txt with some info like which files to update etc.

Finally if you find any other bug related to GearBox , please don’t hesitate to contact me or comment here.

Thanks
Lakshan

i had purchased as i’m shure you’ll find a fix for the ipad issue :)

Added a quick fix to the demo :) —let me know how it works for you

:D Thanks a lot for this very quick answer :) Then i have an Apple iPad 2 (Wi-Fi/GSM/GPS AT&T) 64 GB

here is my safari version: http://www.lpll.fr/photo3.PNG

here is the gallery-four screen shoot: http://www.lpll.fr/photo2.PNG

When i tap the play button, the gallery expand and show all but directly jump to the single-portfolio page. Like i had tap one of square to see it’s details.

and here is the blog-posts screen shoot: http://www.lpll.fr/photo.PNG

On blog posts page i can wait a long time, nothing happend, until i tap on a blank image, after what all images of the page appear magically :)

hope it could help you to help us ;)

Thanks so much for the screenshots and info—really appreciate your time ! :)

The issue is REALLY strange , but I think I’ve found a fix for that.

I’ve updated the Demo with the quick fix , now please let me know how it works on your iPad.

Best,
Lakshan

I would by your theme, seem very friendly to use :) I just notice that the image preload do not work correctly on ipad on some pages in landscape mode or not, the pages gallery-four-col.html and blog-posts.html do not display images correctly

Saw on demo

Thanks for your interest :)

I’m sorry but the Preloader works fine. Could you please send me a message(or reply to this comment) with some more info like the exact issue (image blinking issue etc.), iPad generation , Safari version etc. —a Screenshot would be ideal.

FYI —The preloader has a “fake delay” of 200ms ,which can be easily configurable.

Lakshan.

Hi,

Is it possible for our developer to add a different skin color by himself, to suit our logo color?

Regards, Simone

Of course It’s possible :)

Simply follow the structure used in premade skin files—I’m sure it will only take a minute !

Hello!

What’s the easiest way to add a twitter feed to this site? I want to keep it just like how your demo displays it.

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Chris ,

It’s super easy—just open custom.js (located in js/ folder) file in a text editor and change twitterUser variable’s value to your Twitter username.

Let me know if you need any help with that.

Thanks,
Lakshan.

Hi, just a question before I purchase, do you include the psd of the theme?

Thanks for your interest in GearBox HTML .

GearBox comes with fully layered PSD files of some UI elements (bullets , ribbon , alert icons , slider nav etc.) , but it doesn’t contain a PSD of the full design.

Ok, great, well I just purchase it, i like it a lot, great work, do you have at least the home psd? will help me so I can make some change to my site, thanks.

I’m glad you enjoy it :)

The real situation was , I did make the full PSD design ,but the final project is a far different and a polished version of the PSD design (this happens to me almost every time since I’m comfortable coding the design right from my code editor :) )

I think it is much more easier and quicker for you to customize GearBox since it uses a lot of CSS3 coding instead of some image based techniques (even prototyping is easier with its premade classes). I suggest you to take a look at premade CSS classes section of the documentation.

If you can tell me your customization needs , maybe I can suggest you a quicker way ? If there is anything else you want to know , please don’t hesitate to contact me again.

Regards ,
Lakshan.

Filtering in IE9 does not work?

I thought I did something wrong, but with a look at http://dl.dropbox.com/u/46258785/gearbox/gallery-four-col.html

it’s also not working.

It does work in IE9 and IE8 !

Please check it again and let me know for any problems; make sure javascript is turned on. If there is anything on my side , I’ll definitely fix it in the next version , for sure ! But in this case , the template works just fine for me.

Hi, how can I add an youtube video in gallery? I want to open it with fancybox. (google was no help)

If you want to add youtube videos directly into the gallery , you can do so by wrapping the youtube embed code in .video-container class and adding it inside a grid column in gallery so the videos will also be RESPONSIVE .

If you want to open a youtube video in fancybox with static width and height , you can do so by tweaking the fancybox settings in custom.js ; add the following code to custom.js
$("a.video-box").click(function() {
  $.fancybox({
      'href' : this.href.replace(new RegExp("watch\\?v=", "i"), 'v/'),
      'type' : 'swf',
      'swf' : {
      'wmode': 'transparent',
      'allowfullscreen': 'true'
      }
  });
  return false;
});
and then add .video-box to your preferred link and add the youtube video link in its href attribute.

But at this time , it is not possible to open a youtube video in fancybox in a responsive way. (Fancybox latest version has this feature , i guess ; but you may have to purchase their commercial license)

I’ll add a more convenient way to do this in the next version :)

Cheers ,
Lakshan.

< //a hre=”#top-bar”//>+<//a //> (and all slide div into) – in old version even in ie8 this div was nice slide down and up – now it is (no slide down) only bad slide to the top ;)...

It works perfectly in IE8 . :)

Could you please check it again on your side ? Make sure Javascript is turned on.

what changed – exactly? html, javascript css? which?

Just replace modernizr.min.js file (located in js/ folder) with the current one.

(Please read the changelog.txt )
