hey man, after using this theme for a year and a half, updating to 3.3.0 plus the latest Milk and Flight Deck gives me 65% cpu usage in Chrome, and about 50% cpu in Safari and Firefox. This is bad. Why is my forum demanding so much cpu to render the homepage???
parallax, fluid, rounded corners. Tried disabling things one at a time, theme features and extensions, to find the culprit. It’s nothing in Flightdeck or an extension causing this. I know it’s a Milk issue because my forum has two styles, and the other style uses like 5% cpu.
also what happened to rounded avatars in last post column?
Hi there,
The particle header is quite resource intensive, is this enabled too? There shouldn’t be anything else in the style that demands so much CPU usage.
The extension used for avatars in the last post column isn’t supported in phpBB 3.3 yet, but this extension can achieve the same effect: https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/extension/member_avatar_status
no particle effect
Thanks.
I’d be interested to see your CPU usage screenshots regarding this, as I haven’t been able to replicate this with all settings enabled.
Thanks
and here on Safari https://i.imgur.com/LgesWxM.png
and here on Chrome with the legacy style we supply for users that like the look and feel of the old forum https://i.imgur.com/9m46C21.png
so Milk is doing something here and it’s not a Flight Deck or extension issue because I’ve disabled everything one at a time and gotten same results.
I checked to see if someone had injected a cryptocurrency miner, that’s the first thing I looked for
Brilliant thanks.
The only other thing I can imagine it being would be the parallax header, which generates a small CPU load while scrolling. Apart from this, Milk is written in straightforward HTML, CSS and JavaScript; there isn’t anything in the code capable of drawing that much resource from the CPU.
I don’t want to be dismissive of the issue as obviously something is driving the CPU usage up, but no other customers have reported this, and I’m racking my brains as to how HTML/CSS code can even generate that much demand.
it’s gotta be something javascript don’t you think. The only thing I didn’t disable was the Google recaptcha 2. Using the invisible version for spambots.
hardware acceleration switched on in Chrome, Vivaldi and Firefox when I checked the loads
I’m afraid I genuinely don’t know the cause. My CPU is idling at 3% on your index page.
hmm mac here
Hello, the “Avatar in last post” extension mentioned in the documentation no longer works with PHPBB 3.3
Hi Shane,
Indeed
. It’s the reason we didn’t include that feature in the 3.3 demos, although I forgot it was mentioned in the item desc too.
Thanks for the heads up, I’ll add a small note. Hopefully that extension author updates it soon!
Hi, 5 weeks after the setup and without the use of the forum, we got the issue and not accessible website. After the research it’s showing the error with the template file – the path of the error file …/styles/Milk_v2/template. Seems to be scripts related issue. Why this happened, can this be avoided in the future? @PlanetStyles
Should I upload all the files, or some specific ones to resolve the issue?
The file you have for download is themeforest-NEIJxvcg-milk-multipurpose-responsive-phpbb-31-theme. It should be phpbb-32, right?
Hi there,
Can you send more information to us regarding the script error? The best way to do this will be using the ‘support’ tab above. Any error messages and screenshots you can provide are very helpful.
The download URL is correct. It’s an automatically generated URL based on the item page URL, which in turn was automatically generated based on the very first item name we used (which included phpBB 3.1).
We can’t update this, so the download link will always mention to 31, even though we support every version
Milk 2.0.11 update
- Special characters are now supported in all areas of the Milk theme
- Added global <head> code in flightdeck
A re-installation of FlightDeck and the Milk Theme are both required
Hello. Can i ask You? Polish languge in sidebar, letters like ś ż ą ć.Is the similiar thing like the Czech lang? I’m thinking about buy this theme but firstly i need to know how many things must be done after installation. thanks
Hi there,
Unfortunately special characters aren’t supported in the sidebar’s ‘custom content’ area, but they will work for any native phpBB text that is translated in the language pack
Thank You for fast response. Is possible to change font in sidebar and short istruction about it? (font with available polish special characters). If Yes i will buy template. thank You
Hi again,
That’s not something I can provide today, but I’m talking to our developers about the size of this project.
If it’s quick we’ll get this implemented asap.
I’ll update you here when I have more information, probably in the next day or so
Special characters are now fully supported in all areas of the Milk theme

hello if i have downloaded czech language to PHPbb will fully work with your theme? Will there be anything else to translate or will everything be translated?
Hi there,
Yep, Milk is fully compatible with the Czech language pack, although special characters / symbols aren’t currently supported in the sidebar ‘custom content’ section

Hi, how do i get better spacing round the collapsable icon? See below:https://i.ibb.co/BtTTDcT/Screenshot-3.png and where do i change this text-color? See below:https://i.ibb.co/QMFyjfc/Screenshot-2.png and a last question, where would i put the google automated ads placement code? Best regards Cordante
I figured some things out, so now i only need to know the secound question about the text-color?
Don’t bother, i fixed it myself, really bad support (feel bad for the ones actually buy’s extended support)
Hi there,
I’m sorry that our support wasn’t up to your standards.
Your first comment was at 20:57 on Friday. Our support page makes clear that we provide support within 1 working day, which doesn’t include weekends.
As it’s now 8:08am on Monday, we’re well within this expectation. Regarding your problems:
1) Milk has its own native collapsible categories, which adds support to sidebar panels and information panels on viewforum, viewtopic and other sub pages. There’s no need to use a 3rd party extension.
2) That is the default group colour for Administrators, it can be changed in the UCP
Hi, did not read your support page, i’m sorry about that. Anyways i did manage to solve all the problems anyways so no harm done
And thanks for the answer
Hey PlanetStyles,
I am wondering how I set a certain theme for my webpage, I am not really good at phpbb and was wondering if you could help me out?
Hello,
I have a problem with characters in the blocks. Some german special characters are not displayed correctly. In the rest of the forum everything is ok and the special characters displayed correct. The problem only affects the boxes.
Hi there,
This is a known issue, regrettably we don’t anticipate a fix in the near future
Special characters are now fully supported in all areas of the Milk theme
That´s great. Thank you!!
Is there anywhere documentation for the theme? How to enable collapse for the forum section?
Is there support for this theme?
Yep, documentation is included in the download file
1. Is there a landing page (like a homepage before Board index)? 2. I can not find the footer.html to change content.
Hello,
A landing page would require something like a portal extension, you might be able to find one on phpBB.com.
The footer template file is /milk_v2/template/overall_footer.html
Hi, is there documentation for the theme? I am trying to adjust few things, but having difficulties.
Hi there,
Yep, documentation is included in the download folder
Hi! I get an error when trying to login with the admin user (it says “the submitted form was invalid. try submitting again”) but if I remove the style theme files, it works again. So when installing the milk theme I can’t login or register
Hi there,
Check that the theme and phpBB are both running the most recent version.
phpBB 3.2.7 changed the login forms, so if your forum isn’t up to date it will cause this problem.
I downloaded the most recent phpbb version form their website, the 3.2.8. And I use the newest theme version.
Does the problem persist with every login form, or is this specific to a particular form?
It is when I activate the milk theme and it logs me out before changing to another tab to customise the theme (thats normal) but when I try to login with the login button it tells me that. I have tried to reinstall many times, try things but it keeps telling me the same.
If I can’t solve the problem I would appreciate a refund, because it only occurs with the theme activated, when I have at the beginning of the installation the prosilver theme (the default theme) I can login as usual. Thanks
Hi again! After trying some more things, I have noticed that it allows me to login in my mobile phone, so may be it is something related with my browser. I will try to find a good solution. Thanks anyway
Now I try again to login in mobile and it shows me the same error.
I think I have found the definitive solution. I use cloudflare for caching and those things, so when I disable the cloudflare cache it works as usual and I can login. I don’t know if there is something that is not compatible with cloudflare caching, but for the moment I’m going to leave it like that. Thanks again
I have one more question, where can I add custom html code like meta tags (tag manager code, etc.). Is it on the code block #4?
Hi again,
Thanks for confirming that the issue wasn’t caused by the Milk theme.
At the moment HTML code block 4 isn’t utilised. In the meantime your best option for adding custom code is to edit the template file itself.
Hi there,
I have another question about Milk: It is possible that the users can change the colors of the theme itself?
Regrettably that isn’t possible at the moment.
I have a local installation of phphbb3.2.8 and Milk V2. Sometimes the header is not displayed completely in Firefox-Browser. What´s going wrong?
Wrong: https://s17.directupload.net/images/191018/jnbctant.jpg
Correct: https://s17.directupload.net/images/191018/3sj2agf8.jpg
Hi there,
This is a rare issue where the JS used to control the header hasn’t loaded correctly. Refreshing should resolve the issue.
Hi there,
This is technically possible, however given the low cost of the Milk theme we can’t provide step-by-step direction for individual customisations.
Apologies
How much would you like to ge to either provide me the file I need to change – or the instructions? – How do I get in touch with you?
Hi there,
Ping us a message through the ‘support’ tab above and it’ll reach our private inbox
I just updated to phpBB 3.2.8 and Milk V2.0.10 However collapsed panels do not stay collapsed when logging off and logging on again. The panel state is not preserved. Any ideas?
I am using Safari (no content blocking and cookies are allowed).
Thanks Tom
Hi there,
I can see your emails in our support queue, we’ll take a look shortly
I love the theme. Still playing around with it. Do you know why a logo and header image that I have uploaded might not show? Everything else works as expected but the logo and header images are not showing at all. I have correctly configured things from your support documentation.
Hi there,
Interesting. Were there spaces in the file name for either image? As far as I know this would be the only reason they wouldn’t display and not show an error message.
Thanks
Hi Is it possible to repy a topic without register/membership as a guest visitor
Yes, this is a phpBB setting and not controlled by the theme
