Hi Qode, A while ago I bought the Orkan theme on themeforest (from Edge themes). I noticed that this theme now belongs to you. I hope you can help me with a problem a recently have.
Its about the website: https://www.puurstipdesign.nl/
Its about the homepage. I used the homepage like this, with the floating images from top to bottom and ending with a logo. After that an autoscroll downwards to the “real” homepage. See demo page as an example: https://preview.themeforest.net/item/orkan-a-portfolio-theme-made-for-designers-artists-and-agencies/full_screen_preview/21344353?_ga=2.156456315.1739772629.1578514472-604886607.1575048726Recently (after an auto update from wordpress) this landing page doesnt work anymore. At the backside you can still see the code and bakery fields, but on the front they don’t show. I already tried to update the theme, but that didnt help. Also deactivating the plugins, update the theme and activate the plugins didnt work. It only messed up the theme even more.
So I hope you have time to take a look at this problem, i tried several things but ended up putting a backup website back the get everything working again.

Does Orkan require a clean install or can it be done over existing content?
And can I use the stand alone versions of included plugins (which I own) or do I have to use the included versions?

You are able to do demo import on your installation where you already have some content, but please, note that it could override your existing content. If you already have some plugins such as WPbakery, you are able to use it, since files are exactly the same like those you are getting with our theme.

If you kept a back-up of your files before updating, please revert immediately. Then once your Dashboard is back, disable all plugins and update theme. Then update plugins and activate them back. This should solve the issue.

I just tried 6 different ways to update Orkan Theme to v1.2 and my website breaks every time. Thoughts? I don’t have to have an ongoing support contract just to update the theme do I?

First, go to https://themeforest.net/downloads and download installable file only – https://www.screencast.com/t/qif0aYkdN0
Then extract zipped file anywhere and find orkan-core.zip file in orkan/includes/plugins.
Open up your FTP account and navigate to wp-content/plugins.
Now, extract orkan.core-zip file to wp-content/plugins in your FTP account and choose “Yes” to overwrite all.
This should get your Dashboard back, since the core plugin is updated manually.

Appreciate the help – but not successful. Completely breaks my entire site trying to update either the theme or the core files. Plus – the file you referenced (orkan.core-zip) doesn’t even exist. There is a file called edgtf-core.zip but this breaks the site as well.
Such a great looking theme – but I’ve had nothing but problems since day one.

Hi, just wanted to tell you that I updated the theme on a page I’m working on yesterday (PHP 7.2, WP 5.1.1). I had massive problems with the Core-Content so I had to deploy a backup with the old version. Did you encounter problems of this kind yet or ist this maybe a local problem?

The problem occured “after” the Update to 1.2. I did the update immediately because I’m still in the developing phase of the website and so it made sense to me. The problems seem to stem from the Edge-Core plugins, the rest of the plugins produced at least no error messages. But the wordpress installation broke completely and I had to get back to 1.1 with my backup.
Because I have to buy a few more licenses for further projects of my customer it would be interesting if the issue is widespread or local.

Thank you for your kind words. This can usually happen when you overwrite files, the first one replaced are the ones from the theme and then the plugin ones. Since the core plugin is not yet updated, the website breaks. You would have to update core plugin manually, but it’s hardly difficult.

Hello. Great theme! I do though have trouble getiing “Edge Google Map” to work – it does not center on the address entered. I have applied API which got it to work initially, but it will not fetch the adress – every other setting applies. What exact format should the address be in? Right now it just shows the map like in your own demos. Thank you!

Hello. Just bought theme, but pagebuilder does not work. When saving the page, and refreshing, all content in pagebuilder is cleared. Only the content written in the new Gutenberg editor shows. How do i fix that?

The plugins that you got after the purchase are called bundled and we, as a theme authors, have purchased an extended licence for them. That means you don’t have to activate them and they’ll work for you regardless of that.
In the following text we’ll explain how the bundled plugins work:
Bundled plugins offer the same core features and functionality as the standalone version of the item on CodeCanyon.
Some plugins may ask for a purchase code for registration/activation once installed, however, you can simply ignore these messages as bundled plugins do not require activation or registration. The plugin will still work as intended with the theme once the theme has been activated/registered.
When a plugin is updated, the theme author will include the latest version of the bundled plugin with their next theme update. So you can easily update the bundled plugin when you next update your theme.

If you’re using page template (ex: Blog: Masonry) the only thing that will be listed on that page are blog posts. Nothing else will be rendered. This is the way all our themes work. However, there’s another way, and that is to choose Default page template and insert “Blog List” element from WPBakery. In that way, you will list your post, as well as have the possibility to insert something else to that page.

Hello to the team who created Orkan! Love the look of the templates, but, I’ve just downloaded, and was surprised and dissapointed to find no templates inside the download. Is it just me? Are there template pages similar to what was shown on the preview site? Are there built out templates pages included in the theme that I’m not finding? Here’s how it works. First you have to install theme.zip file on your clean WordPress installation. Once you do that, all you have to do next is to import demo content from our presentation on your side. You can find helpful guide on this link https://edge.ticksy.com/article/12617/
When you’re done with all these steps from the import guide, you should be able to see demo content uploaded on your domain.

Hello to the Team at Edge, Thank you for your response. Earlier this afternoon, I did the Wordpress Installation and also downloaded the demo content. But, I found no templates inside the files to use to build the pages. When I tried to duplicate the demo pages to use them as de-facto templates, then I was unable to edit the images/content on each demo page. How is the user supposed to build pages? And/or edit images? The documentation outlines how to re-build the pages from scratch, but, the reason why I purchased the theme is so that I wouldn’t have to build the pages from scratch. Other themes I’ve worked with in the past include template page styles where I can add images into the zones, but, I’m not able to find any inside of Orkan. For the styled pages like “v-card”, “4 column wide portfolio” and “metro portfolio” I’ve been unable to swap the images or re-build the galleries and link them to these pages. When I attempt to use the Wordpress tools, I cannot access the images to edit, and when I use the plugins I cannot edit them either. Your assistance with this is greatly appreciated.

Hello to the team at Edge Themes, I have emailed Envato, and I’ve also emailed Edge Themes support. I read through all the documentation, and I also just visited the “forum”. All i’m seeing is “how to import demo content”. I believe that the theme is broken, and that the template pages are missing from the current download. There are no usable templates, there are no “recipes” that explain how to build the looks that are sold as a part of the package. Is it possible that the wrong version of this theme is what’s been uploaded for customers to download? Because what I’ve downloaded is completely unusable. Beautiful theme, but, so far, I’m dissappointed and would like some tech support (or the correct, working version) as soon as possible. Thank you for your assistance with this, Janell

As we explained in the first reply and as our agent explained to you here #1576364 you need to import demo content in order to get the same look and feel as per our demo presentation. Our theme is not broken, you just didn’t understand the concept behind this. That’s why we developed one-click importer tool, so you don’t have to bother building demo content from scratch.
Please read through the guide I sent in first reply and read through the response of our agent and hopefully you’ll understand how to achieve the same layout as advertised.

Hello to the team at Edge, Thank you for your reply. I read through the guide and the documentation. I used the “1 click importer”, and I saw the theme pages, but when I tried to edit these pages, I was unable to do so. There were no templates or page styles. In a 5-hour effort to get it to work, I uploaded “visual composer”, and “Elementor” to try and use one of these tools to edit the pages, but the theme kept asking for “WP Bakery”. I tried to activate “WP Bakery”, as outlined in the documents, but it said that the license belonged to you guys, and use was not extended to me and would require a $45 purchase. In downloading your theme I was hoping for and expecting something easy-to-use, that could get me up and running quickly. I was deeply disappointed with not being able to use the theme, as I like the design, and I spent a lot of time evaluating before I purchased and trying to make it work after the fact. Unfortunately, the theme I downloaded did not work as expected. It may work if you have licenses to all the software tools used to build it, but, it DOES NOT work with the plug-ins that were packaged with the theme I downloaded and received. You all might want to try the theme on a New WordPress account without WP Bakery or Visual Composer, or with a new user, and you may see what I’m referencing. Really beautiful theme, but what I received does not work as promised or expected.

Hello to the team at Edge Themes, Thank you for the primer on “bundled plugins”. I think your software provider may have change their terms of service. I will attempt to attach a screenshot to this reply, but, the theme is saying that “WP Bakery” has replaced Visual Composer, and that I must purchase a license of WP Bakery for $45 in order to edit within the theme. I’ve requested a refund as I’m unable to use the theme, and, for the sake of time, have had to end up building the website using a different theme since Orkan was not working.

Visual Composer did change it’s name to WP Bakery, but that has nothing to do with purchased licences, since they remain valid regardless of the name of the plugin. As we explained before, you don’t need to purchase any additional licence, as we already provide extended licence for all our users. WP Bakery is 100% compatible with our themes and there’s no chance that it’s not working, as it’s the official builder for all our themes. somewhere I read that if you try to download demo a few times the menus multiply and you have to do something to fix it… but I cant find it again. Can anybody helpme? Every time I try to import the themo, the bar stays at 90% and never finishes…. Do you know how to fix this?
