Make sure you read all the comments you’ll notice that tons of people are having problems with this theme, it has issues with updates, images and just in general it’s poorly designed. If you’ve worked with well developed themes you know it should feel when you install it, simple things like XML sample content import via web, standardized content editors, etc are non-existent with this theme. Just saying make sure you read all the comments, they tend to delete the ones that they don’t like.
Hey there,
I’m not sure if you are facing some kind of issue with the theme, in any case, I have searched for some previous contact from you and I have not found any. So please, if you are having some trouble when working with the theme, we would encourage you to contact with us in order to let us know and see how we can better help you, because very often use to happen that things that you could consider as an error, bugs or ‘poorly developed’ aspects, are just issues generated because of many other details involved with your site. In this sense, I’d like to do some considerations:
If you read some of the previous messages related to issues with images (as you point with your message), you should notice that all theses issues happened after the theme update v2.7.0, where we added a new feature where the theme now can lazy load images. This new feature needed that we changed the markup (HTML) and some of the related styling (CSS). These assets and related coded are hardly cached by browsers, because of this, when some users updated their themes, their browsers still had in memory the older markup and related styling and because of this reason, they were showing a mixed result and images were not properly loading. Something that gets automatically fixed out when just refreshing the browser cache and flushing the page cache in case of the site is using some page cache plugin. So, if you read completely these messages you will notice how all these users reporting these issues got this fixed out just by following our guidelines. This also includes new installations from scratch, where this cache issue is not present and no issues happen when rendering image assets, of course.
You also say that the theme is ‘poorly designed’ and ‘If you’ve worked with well developed themes’, which means that you consider our theme ‘non well developed’. Well, I’d like to do two appreciations here as well, if you allow me.
The first affirmation from your part is quite subjective and I totally respect it, but I don’t understand then why you bought the theme if you consider this and why near to 5000 users arrived to the conclusion that our theme could be useful and interesting in terms of concept and design for their projects.
Regarding to the coding and development with Lobo, I want to add that we have worked with many users that are developers (no implementers) and we received good feedback always. Because of this, maybe, you miss some of these popular builder with our theme, but we don’t see any reason because of we should use any of them when we could develop our own solution for creating the modular system our theme proposes. What you see in the demo is what you can do with our builder (modules), a very lightweight solution exclusively developed for our theme to provide a very straightforward content solution that no generates unnecessary code on page and no ‘lock-in effect’ with your content, as you can see with solutions like Visual Composer, for example. We understand they are very popular but we proposed from the beginning a different approach we detail in the theme description and with our theme’s documentation which is available on-line and you can read before purchasing the theme. We created a simple builder system with a very specific propose (to create a creative portfolio website), and not a multi-propose solution, which is not the theme’s goal. Lobo’s goal is to generate a website with the features you can see in the demo site.
Finally, you say that we remove messages that we don’t like. We cannot do this because comments are managed by Envato and sometimes, we find some comments that are directly false and written by users that just want to have the theme for free by writing a false review when we decline a refund request. When we detect this kind of abuses, we report them to Envato and it is Envato who decides if they remove the comments or not having into account the evidences we must present in order to they remove these comments you are referring to. Many of them are based on users that want their websites customized for free and they use the review system as a system for coercing authors to have this done for free. I could tell you about tons of bad usages for comments and the review area.
If you have some issue with the theme, you have some doubt, you have something to report because the theme is not working properly and you have found some bug, that could happen and use to happen. We are here to get this fixed out, because there is not exist a perfect piece of software and we work very hard from support to attend everything and we provide updates when needed and when the theme just needs maintenance, so please, do not hesitate to get in touch with us. We are here to help and to provide a product that it is helping tons of users to develop their projects and their business successfully. Even dozens of them are using the theme more than 5 years now without changing to a different theme.
If you feel that the theme is not properly supported or maintained, I really encourage you to get in touch with us via our support area. In this way, maybe, we can make your mind to change and you may re-consider your 1-star rating.
In any case, many thanks for your comment and review. As you will see, it won’t be removed because of this is your opinion and it is totally legit.
Best – Van.
Hi guys. Hope ur well. A couple questions:
Does Lobo work with Wordpress 5.3.2?
I am experiencing errors when uploading images to the media library and within modules.’An error occurred in the upload. Please try again later.’ Any thoughts? Site is here: www.thepresssociety.com.au
Cheers
Hey there, Patrick!
You should not have any problem when uploading new assets to your media library. Lobo is working normally with WordPress 5.3.2, so we should review some details first in order to make sure that none of these details are breaking this feature, let’ review the following:
- Check folder permission. You may like to check the permissions of ‘upload’ folder first and make sure that it has been set to 755. At times, the permissions of this folder may change due to some unexpected changes in the server.
- Recently installed plugins. You should check the recently installed plugins on your WordPress website because one or more of these plugins may conflict in some way. Maybe, some image optimizer could break the functionality because of they are very server environment dependant
- Max upload size. If you have been trying to upload an image or asset higher than 2MB and facing this error message, then you must consider increasing the file upload size through .htaccess file, via theme functions file or php.ini file. Here you can read more about this topic.
Please, review these details and do let us know.
I hope it will help you out!

Thanks Van i’ll have a look at the above and let you know.
Hey Van it turns out the hosting provider had some issues with the database…. sorry to bother and thanks for your help. Much appreciated!
No problem, Patrick! We are here to help, so do not hesitate to get in touch any time you need it
is there a way to prevent right click on portfolio? Sometimes galleries don’t load up when I use a plugin?
Hey there,
As you reached us by mail as well about this same query and after a few days we had not received a response from you, please, allow me to add our reply to your query here. In case that you would need any further assistance in this regard, I really encourage you to follow the opened ticket by mail in order to track your queries better:
I’m glad to hear that! In the case of the right-click button, I must say that the theme never provided this functionality, in fact, this is something we never recommend even if you use a plugin for this. Is it possible that you were using a plugin to handle this functionality before? I say this because of these methods don’t prevent to steal images from your site, anybody can just open the browser console and to download literally all your website images in a very easy way, easier and quicker than saving one by one with a right mouse click. Adding a plugin for this to your site just adds more code to load and you have not real protection for this.In any case, as said before, the theme never provided this functionality. If you want to add it to your site, you will need to look for some dedicated plugin for this purpose. We have seen plugins working for this purpose with Lobo, so if you found some particular issue with that plugin colliding with some theme feature, maybe you could try some different one, this should be a problem in any case.
I hope it will be useful!

unfortunately the gallery function does not work for me. i can not even open a gallery, nothing happens when I click. also, after the update to the latest wp and theme, pictures on the page does not show up until I scroll down a little. (https://promotica.hu/portfolio/down-baba-arculat/)
Hey there,
First of all, I’m sorry to hear that you are facing some kind of difficulty with your site, but do not worry because for sure we can help with.
As you know, we updated the theme some weeks ago and within this new update, we included a new feature that should speed up your site considerably because now the theme is lazy loading your contents. Because of this new feature and all the related changes done over the markup and code, in case you are using some cache method for your website (usage of W3 Total Cache plugin or similar), you should have into account that you must clear your site’s cache and your browser cache in order to make sure that you are seeing the latest code provided by the update.
Also, I have noticed some errors related to ‘cross-origin data’. These kinds of errors are quite common when enabling SSL certificates in your site, in fact, I’m seeing an HTTP security error as well, so please, double-check the way you did this change in your site, since doing a site migration from HTTP to HTTPS is not a trivial task and this kind of errors are quite common because of this.
In case you could need any further assistance in this sense, I really encourage you to open a support ticket or write us using the contact form on our profile page.
I hope it will help you out!

Dear Van, is there a way to turn off this lazy loading thing? might be of a good use in most cases, but in my case it does not look good. (https://promotica.hu/portfolio/a-muveszet-integral-arculat/) thank you.
Hey there,
This new feature was added to the theme as part of new optimization tasks we had planned and this feature only provides improvements and enhancement to the theme, it should not be a problem.
As said before, all the small issues that appeared these past weeks with some few user’s group, they were related to cache issues, so please, double-check my first reply to you where I explain how you should clear your server cache and your browser’s.
In any case, we are going to study to add an option for you to disable this functionality in case that, for some reason, you would prefer to remove it. But again, this is just an optimization method for you to provide a faster experience to your visitors. We have been tracking all the related issues appeared these past weeks and this new feature is working really well, so I’d like to make sure that you have the best experience possible in this sense, so if you have any other related doubt or query, please, do not hesitate to ping us in case you could need it.

Hi Van,
How are you?
I use some text lines on my header page and have noticed some text aligning issues on the responsive mobile though. Could you give me some solutions on this?
1. The one on the landing page here (Designing things that matter, for people who care.). On mobile it doesn’t scale down the text and it is not readable because of that.
www.soloneo.com
2. On the project “platimum point”, there is a full width image of a architecture. In ti the text reads “platinum point”. On the mobile text doesn’t scale down as well. So it looks broken.
http://www.soloneo.com/portfolio/poster/I’d appreciate some help on fixing this.
Thank you in advance, Boris
Hey there Boris,
I’m not sure which method you are using to set that heading in size and width. But if you want to have more control over this element in small screens, you can write this custom CSS in your custom styles (Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS):
@media only screen and (max-width: 640px) {
.hero-intro .copy > * {
font-size: 3.75vw;
}
}
The ‘vw’ measure will help you to generate a very ‘liquid’ heading that will adapt differently to the available space. Please, try in this way and let me know if this did the work you were looking for.
I hope it will help you out!

Hey Van,
thank you for the fast respond!
I copied your code in the custom CSS.
It helped for the landing page but the text on the second one doesn’t change.
This here: http://www.soloneo.com/portfolio/poster/Or probably I must change the code inside the project itself?
I set some character space here:
PLATINUM POINT
How can we make that the code you sent me overwrites the one I set here (just on mobile)?
Thank you and best, Boris
Hey there,
If you want this modification to apply to these other elements, you can try in this way:
@media only screen and (max-width: 640px) {
.hero-intro .copy > *,
.hero-info > * {
font-size: 3.75vw;
}
}
This should work just fine. In case you want to change the behavior you previously set, it’s better you just remove the old modification added previously to these proposed changes instead of overwriting the rules. In case you want to overwrite them, you just need to over-qualify (by increasing specificity) this rule, something like this:
@media only screen and (max-width: 640px) {
body .hero-module .hero-intro .copy > *,
body .hero-module .hero-info > * {
font-size: 3.75vw;
}
}
I hope it will help you out!

I added the child theme and got a parse error. Did I use the correct code in the functions.php? add_action( ‘wp_enqueue_scripts’, ‘lobo_enqueue_styles’ ); function lobo_enqueue_styles() {
$parent_style = 'parent-style';
wp_enqueue_style( $parent_style, get_template_directory_uri() . '/style.css' );

);
Error message: An error of type E_PARSE was caused in line 49 of the file ”/themes/lobo-child/functions.php”. Error message: syntax error, unexpected end of file
Hey there,
The first reason because you could receive some error when working with the child theme is related to the parent’s theme folder name. Please, make sure it is correct in your definition, that should look like something like this:
function lobo_child_enqueue_styles() {
wp_enqueue_style( 'lobo' , get_template_directory_uri() . '/style.css' );
wp_enqueue_style( 'lobo-child-style',
get_stylesheet_directory_uri() . '/style.css',
array( 'lobo' ),
wp_get_theme()->get('Version')
);
}
add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'lobo_child_enqueue_styles' );

Thanks that worked. The child theme is now active but I am still getting a ton of errors and warnings being thrown on page loads. I have checked the console and they seem to be PHP errors. Do you recommend a good error log to capture them?
Hey there,
The theme does not return any PHP error, just notice that Envato reviews each theme in order to ensure some minimum standards in code quality. If you are receiving some errors, please, do make sure that you have not any plugin that could be breaking your site or colliding with any other element installed in your site, including the theme. Many factors could bring errors in your logs, so in case you need some help to troubleshoot your site. Please, open a support ticket and we’ll try to help with. Hello! I am noticing a Safari specific issue with the latest update of the Lobo theme which relates to the new image Lazy Loading: when a page is loaded that has a Text Hero with a Hero Background image, the text loads but the background image does not. Once the user scrolls down, then the Hero Background Image loads (but never before scrolling occurs). Before then, you will only see an animated pre-loader (which will sometimes turn into a blue question mark). I have two licenses for Lobo, but because I have many pages that use the Text Hero with Hero Background Images I have not updated either (I always test updates locally first). However, I am able to re-create the issue on Safari with your very own theme demo:
http://forceandform.com/extranet/martin/lobo_theme_demo_contact_minimal_page_text_hero_background_image_not_loading.jpg http://forceandform.com/extranet/martin/lobo_theme_demo_shop_page_text_hero_background_image_not_loading.jpgIs there a work-around for this, or is it going to be addressed in an upcoming update? Otherwise, upon loading of these pages it makes it appear as if something is broken on the site.
Cheers and thanks in advance.
Hey there,
We are testing this detail you are referring to and we are seeing this wrong rendering that Safari does. The problem is that this issue is caused because of a browser issue and not because of a wrong implementation related to the new lazy loading method we added. In any case, we are reviewing this in order to provide a fix that will improve this behavior in Safari. So many thanks for letting us to know.

Hi Van. It appears that with the recent upgrade image captions are not viewable now: https://thepresssociety.com/projects/ Any feedback on this would be appreciated.
Hey there!
First of all, do not worry because of this issue. With the latest theme update, we have changed the way the theme loads contents and due to these modifications part of the markup and some other assets have changed and it is quite possible that you are using some cache method/plugin in your site, like using W3 Total Cache. In any case, you must know that your site is working correctly and you just need to clear/flush your site and browser cache in order to see correctly your last site changes. Here you can read more about the involved details. Some users have experienced similar issues due to these factors as well and they got their sites working normally in their ends after double checking this out, so I really encourage you to follow these guidelines here.
I hope it will help you out!

Thanks Van. I followed your instructions – emptied the browser cache. Emptied all caches using W3 Total cache. Unfortunately the captions are still covered over by the images. Is there anything else you suggest?
I’m totally sorry, Patrick, since I did not understand your query. We are asked for this particular issue during the last past week and I did not read properly your message, you were referring to the image captions. You are totally right, for some reason the caption is not properly placed and we’ll fix this out within the next coming update. In the meantime, you can restore this in a very easy way just by adding this custom CSS rule to your custom styles:
.module-caption, .slide-caption { z-index: 100; }
That should be enough for you to get this fixed out. Please, try in this way and let me know, ok?
Many thank for your patience and understanding!

Hey there Peter,
As far I can see, you have enabled your child theme. Please, deactivate it and enable the parent theme before doing any update. Also, you can try via FTP directly in order to make sure that your plugins get updated. You will find the latest versions available within includes/plugins, just unzip the files and upload them via FTP to your wp-contents/plugins folder in your server.
Just try in this way and let us know how it worked for you.

Supplement No 2
Deleted September 2 update and replaced it with a previous version because the entire site was affected. Also the distances between the pictures were partly separated by small white stripes. In particular, all SVG were no longer displayable.
My advice: If you work with your own CSS over a child, don’t install this update.
Please, read my previous two messages. You should not have any problem if you are adding your custom CSS in the standard way by adding it via Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS or adding your custom CSS via child theme. All these changes cannot be overwritten in any way by a theme update.

And on the iPad not a single picture works!

Dear VanKarWai,
You’ve been developing for 5 years and I was one of your first customers! And with each update, I curse the day, pray before each of your updates, and with every second update, I decide to finally use a different theme.
And yes, of course I did. And everything else too. And to avoid further discussions about that: I belong to the generation that made their first computers themselves. So I know on the whole what to do.
On this occasion: Your Lobo has basically big problems with the performance of pictures.
For example, if you load an image with 100 KB, Lobo will make it multiple times. Therefore I upload ALL images via FTP and overwrite ALL image variants generated by Lobo. Otherwise the loading time would be a disaster.
But the question is: Do you leave your “new improvements” for image optimization, or should I use the time to rather use work in a new theme?
Love greetings from Berlin
Wolfgang
Hey there Wolfgang,
In the same way you should never modify any theme core file, you should never alter the media gallery contents by uploading your contents directly via FTP (this could create conflicts and issues), this is not a CMS purpose. The reason behind Lobo generates different sizes for each item you upload in your media gallery is because this is the way WordPress works and the way we have improved how Lobo’s handle responsiveness. WordPress provides developers the ability to generate different post/featured thumbnails and assets sizes in order to serve the optimized one for each different location in a theme. Please, read more about this WordPress functionality in the official WordPress codex page.
Furthermore, we have added an optimization methodology to load each asset only when they are needed, in this way, you can upload a very big image and the theme will generate different sizes that will be used for each screen size. This is an optimization technique that will improve loading times, for example, you can upload a 5000×3500 image size but your website won’t render this size in a mobile device or some screen size that does not need such size. Instead of, Lobo will serve a mobile optimized size. Please, have a look at this particular example – https://cl.ly/4008e77193f0
As said before, we work in order to improve the theme and not to make it worse with each update. Because of this, we have added this new functionality that not only controls the different sizes for different screens but also controls the moment they are loaded, since they load as you scroll the page by deferring their loading process, feature that would improve the loading times as well.
I would ask you to double check my previous comments in order to make sure that you have properly updated your site. Not to follow a correct update process or not to follow the standard methods to work with WordPress, like using only the media gallery to upload contents to your website, it could generate unexpected results. We really encourage you to follow our guidelines in this sense.
I hope it will help you out!

Hello, Van,
I’m sorry, but what’s all this got to do with it? These are only superficial PR texts. I know what and how WordPress works. I run several WP pages. Problems with the updates, I have however always only and exclusively with your LOBO.
The fact is that after your update my whole website was (once again) deformed and SVG images were no longer loaded and I again had to waste an hour working to install a backup with the old version.
Words are patient, actions shouldn’t be! So let’s leave it at that. If your next update doesn’t work again, I’ll have to find another solution.
Apart from that, I think the theme as such is very pretty. That’s probably why I’ve been annoyed about it for years. Your LOBO reminds me of an unhappy love …
Greetings from Berlin
Wolfgang
Hi VanKarWai,
sorry, but each of your updates causes more harm than good and above all a lot of extra work! Could you please work a little more concentrated and careful?
This time:
- All SVG images are suddenly no longer displayable. - The relations of the images in the header are no longer correct, especially in the headers with text.
It is very annoying …
Yours sincerely from Berlin
Wolfgang
Hey there Wolfgang,
With the latest update, we have added a new feature that improves significantly the page loading times by deferring the images load. This is especially interesting for very large portfolio websites.
If you are experiencing some kind of issue, it is very possible that it happens because of cache issues. Are you using W3 Total Cache or some other cache plugin in your installation? If you do, you should purge your site cache in order to properly reflect the latest changes.
In any case, if you still have some issue after reviewing this detail I share here, do not hesitate to open a support ticket or write us using the contact form on our profile page in order so we can check this out.
We update the theme not to generate any hassle but for you to have a better website and experience in general. It’s more than 5 years since we released Lobo and we have not stopped improving the theme, always trying to provide the best tool possible for you to create your website. If in this journey we have generated any drawback at some point, we apologize for any inconvenience, our intentions are totally different.
As said, do not hesitate to ping us in case of need it. Many thanks for reaching out.

Hey there!
We are sorry to hear that you are facing some kind of issue. With the latest update, we have added a new feature that improves significantly the page loading times. It is possible that if you are using some cache method like using W3 Total Cache plugin, you will need to purge your site cache in order to reflect the latest changes, otherwise, your site could have a mix trying to load the latest changes with the old files prior to the update, all of this resulting in some bad result like this one.
Make sure that you have properly purged your site cache and your browser cache when testing your site.
Just let us know if you are finding some kind of difficult when doing all this workaround.

Hi VanKarWai,
I love your theme and I’ve been using it for years.
One question do I have though.
I’m trying to use a GIF for the landing page as a thumbnail. It works but it breaks the grid and does not fit inline with the other thumbnails.
What exact size must be the GIF in order to fit the grid and stay inline?

Hey there Boris!
So nice reading and greeting you again
You should not have any problem when adding your GIFs always you follow the sizing guidelines which need to be a multiple of 480px. So let’s say 480×480 or 960×960 or 960×480, etc. With this in mind, the grid should not be broken.

Please, you make sure that you are uploading the zip file within the ‘Theme’ folder you will find once you unzip the main package you download from Themeforest. This is very important for you to properly install any theme from Themeforest.
Also, I really encourage you to read our theme documentation where you will find step by step how to install and work with your new WordPress theme.
In any case, do not hesitate to let us know if you could have any other query or doubt.
I hope it will be useful!

Hi i have a few queries. 1. How can i increase the loading time of all my pages, it can take over 10 seconds to load on occasion. I have compressed images to help. Is there a way to introduce a ‘lazy loading’ function so the whole page doesn’t need to load straight away? 2. How can i customise the gallery module? - I would like to remove the “icon-eye.png” over the thumbnail. - I would like to replace the text on an open gallery so it does not say “CLOSE”. I also want to make this larger. - I also want to change the image thumbnails that appear when i hover to dots, and i dont want them to be hidden. Thanks

Hi VanKarWai.
I have an urgent question.
I want to integrate video (not in the header) which is autoplaying and looping. Hence I only can add links at the video modules I don´t find a way to include the pimped embedd code from vimeo.
Please tell me how to do that. Thank you very much in advance.
And last question: if I want to integrate a video which is not in the normal video standards (in my case 4:5 high format instead of widescreen), can set the module to play it without black borders ?
best,Martin
Hey there Martin,
Autoplay functionality is only available for hero elements, have into account that these services provide some specific APIs that sometimes are not the best, for example for you to ‘remove’ black bars. In brief, you cannot make Vimeo videos autoplay (you can with Youtube) and loop and neither to change the black bars when your video ratio and the module where it is displayed don’t fit the same ratios. Basically, Vimeo does not provide any method for better play with ratios and prevent, at least to the ‘eye’, to remove the black gaps. Unfortunately, this what your are looking for it is not possible, I’m sorry.
Just let me know if we could help you with something else, ok?

Hi Van,
thanks for super fast reply. It´s a pity with Vimeo.
BUT: how is it working with Youtube ? Can I set the YT video on their webside already to autoplay which is “safed” then in the link I embed in the video module ?
In case of Youtube, your videos would autoplay but you won’t have the loop neither, since when the video ends up, you will see related videos or the configuration you did when uploading your videos to the platform, also, depending on the video ratio and the module wrapper, black bars could happen as well. You will have the flexibility you will find within the Youtube available options when uploading your video.
I hope it will be useful!
