Hi, I bought this theme a couple of years ago and now it doesn’t work anymore.
” If you are interested I can put some effort into it and make a small support update for the current version of the theme to support gulp v4 (making v3 work as it should it’s a pain I would say). It that’s the case please let me know.”
I am interested! My support subscription ran out but I will renew it if you would help me.
Hi @ohkimur,
I’m very interested in purchasing this theme. However, I have a few questions.
1. In a previous message, you mentioned a “new” Sera in work. When will that be released? 2. Any updates on the Sera theme with Jekyll 4.x and Gulp 4? Your last update indicated that a full redesign and implementation was on track at that time. 3. Does the theme work with GitHub Pages? GitHub Pages don’t seem to work with single page apps well, but I’m wondering if using something like this work? https://github.com/rafgraph/spa-github-pages 4. Is there a blog search feature? Is it in the works?
Thanks!
Hi @zzzz8888,
1. The new Sera version is in work. There is no fixed release date since the focus is on quality, not on quantity. 2. The current version doesn’t yet support Jekyll 4.x and Gulp 4. But if you are interested in the current version of the theme, I can make a patch update to the necessary support for Jekyll 4.x and Gulp 4. It should not take too long. 3. Every Jekyll website should be compatible with GitHub pages. Therefore, this version of Sera should work too. 4. The current version doesn’t have a static blog search feature. However, this seems like a nice feature to have, so I will surely add support for it for the next version.
Hi @ohkimur,
Yes, I would definitely be interested in support Jekyll 4.x and Gulp 4, though I would be ok with just Jekyll 4.x and Gulp 3 for now.
I’m more focused on the issue that GitHub Pages has with SPA applications such as this one. The link I posted above describes this issue: https://github.com/rafgraph/spa-github-pages and describes it as thus:
“GitHub Pages doesn’t natively support single page apps. When there is a fresh page load for a url like example.tld/foo, where /foo is a frontend route, the GitHub Pages server returns 404 because it knows nothing of /foo.”
I’m just concerned the theme may not work out of the box. Or perhaps I’m misunderstanding how your theme works and is implemented? Is your theme technically not a single page application? If it is, I wonder if deploying on another platform such as Netlify may work out of the box?
This link should provide all the answers that you need: https://docs.github.com/en/pages/setting-up-a-github-pages-site-with-jekyll
Thanks @ohkimuar! I just purchased the theme. I definitely hope you can make a patch to support Jekyll 4.x and Gulp 4 in the near future.
I will start working on it as fast as possible.
I finished working on the patch update. It will be available soon, after Envato review.
Wow, thanks for the quick patch! Awesome!
5 stars rating will help spreading the love <3
Hi @gleesik, sorry for the late late response, I set a calendar notification for 2 months.
I’m still very interested in a Sera theme for Jekyll 3.x .
From your last message, do you mean the patch is already included in the theme ? If that is the case I will buy it now.
Hi, @KoeSystems,
The current version of Sera supports Jekyll 3.x and Gulp 3. If you need Jekyll 4.x and Gulp 4 you need to know that a full redesign and implementation is on track. However, at the moment I can’t give you an exact estimation for the release date.
Nice to meet you, Gleesik. That’s a great theme. I wanted to use it with jekyll, and I read in the comment that ” NOTE: If you are interested I can put some effort into it and make a small support update for the current version of the theme to support gulp v4 (making v3 work as it should it’s a pain I would say). It that’s the case please let me know.”
Is it possible to receive this support after purchasing the item?
Hi @chirimen,
Considering the fact that many people are interested in the current version of Sera, I think it would be nice to make this patch an official update until the next version will be available. This way anyone that bought the theme will receive this patch.
Thanks, I bought it!
Hi Gleesik, amazing theme ! Is Sera fully compatible with Jekyll 4.x ?
Hi! Work in progress.
Hi Gleesik, any update on this ? Do you have an ETA ?
Hi @KoeSystems, currently I work on a fully cli development workflow that will be used with the new Sera, you can check my github profile too see the progress on that. Also there still are many parts of the theme that have to be updated. Unfortunately I can not give you an exact ETA, but I think a good approximation would be a few months. I don’t want to rush with this new update because it’s a completely new redesign and I want to get it right.
Hi Gleesik, that sounds like a good reason to take your time
In the meantime… I was wondering if the current template is compatible with the last 3.x version ( 3.8.7 ) ... if that is the case I could go now and buy the template and get the future update later, once you finish.
Hi again @koeSystems!
I tried to see if everything works fine with the latest version of jekyll. It seems that from this perspective there are no problems. However I encountered some difficulties because gulp dropped the support for version 3, so many things break in the workflow. Though I already have a version of the workflow written with version 4 in mind already. With some small addition we could port the gulpfile.js from my new workflow to work with this.
NOTE: If you are interested I can put some effort into it and make a small support update for the current version of the theme to support gulp v4 (making v3 work as it should it’s a pain I would say). It that’s the case please let me know.
The Live demo has a problem, drill all the way down the blog post. the href is absolute, and all links are broken, while the working pages have relative link.
Thank you for posting this issue. I will try to resolve it as fast as possible.
Works, nice job. Looks great.
This theme looks very professional. I just want to know whether it supports syntax highlighting and code snippets integration ( either embedded code or gist file). If you can provide a screenshot for the same would be helpful. Thanks.
Things like syntax highlinghting will be provided by your text editor. In the documentation are presented some ways of how you can use the code portions direct from the theme folder.
Thanks for quick reply. By means of syntax highlighting I meant once I publish the post using your theme, the code snippets in the article should display the code properly with syntax highlighted ( not just as plain text). Additionally is there any way to access the documentation before I make a purchase?
The theme is being redesigned and also recoded, so probably the next version will have theese features.
Okay. So if I make a purchase now, will I get access to next version without paying for it again? Also I think I can integrate custom CSS for time being to display the code properly and will remove it once you provide a better version for code integration
. Please confirm.
Yes. What you say make perfect sense. It is noticeable the fact that the new version will not continue to support older code written for Sera. However I think all the posts from the jekyll should be compatible. The new version will have huge changes, hope good ones.
Okay. one final question – when the new version is coming out?
If everything is working fine, the new version should be released in max 2.5 months.
Does it provides pagination support? In the blog list page, if I have for example 10 posts, I want to show first 5 posts on one page and then paginator at the bottom.
I think the current version doesn’t have that feature, but I keep this in consideration for the next version.
Hello .. I hope you have great sales at this site .. Follow me TOO
Hey guys,
first of all, congratulations on the theme, I think this is the best Jekyll portfolio theme I’ve seen up until now!
Guys I would like to ask a question, it’s more of a “broad” question than it is specific to the theme, but I would like to make sure I’ll be able to do everything that I need with thi theme and also guarantee that it will look great.
I am currently working with a few Jupyter notebooks (are you guys familiar with it?) and I would like to post my Jupyter notebooks on the website. Each Jupyter notebook would become a post on the webpage. So basically I would like to work with the combo Jekill + GitHub pages + Jypyter.
I would like to know if that will be possible using the theme and how will the posts would look like.
Thank you.
Hi,
First of all, there is no team, only me.
I am familiar with Jupyter Notebook. The theme was not designed for this purpose, but with some work I think you can use it. The blog section will be suited for that, I think. But if you like we can talk more in private on my facebook page.
With respect, - Daniel
Hey, very nice template! You could add also GA integration. One thing I am not able to accomplish. Where is the mailchimp user-id coming from?
the newsletter code doesn’t work even once I passed the user ID
I fixed it by replacing your form with a mailchimp one and then copying your classes.
I will investigate that, and if it is the case I will make an update to fix that. Thanks!
@gleesik I really like your design and I don’t want to mess it up haha. What CSS properties would u recommend for element? Because currently when I use the <code> tag, the text doesn't get formatted in the blog.</code>
Something like this: https://highlightjs.org/static/demo/
Well that is not a feature of the theme, but since you have the jekyll version I think will be a great idea to use something like prism.js to do that, or why not use codepen (of course if you can).
PS: Also I will keep this aspect in mind for the new version.
When an update is planned? I see 2016 the last? Can i use it on Siteleaf or Github pages?
There are some new features in beta testing, and those features will be implemented in the new update in the future. At the moment this version doesn’t need an update to fix any problems. (If problems are reported than I will fix them and I will make a new update if necessary)
Any updates planned for this theme ? Seems to be stagnant, more than 12 months with no updates.
Hi, there were no updates because a big update is comming.
reply when there is an update, and I will purchase. Thanks
OK!
Is this a gem-based theme?
It is a Jekyll theme so the answer is yes this is a gem-based theme.
Can this theme be used on GitHub pages?
It is a Jekyll theme, so the answer is yes.
I’d like to know how easy is to integrate an internationalization i18n plugin like Polyglot (https://github.com/untra/polyglot) to the theme?
This is a jekyll theme so the process is the same for any jekyll theme, even for Sera.
PS: The link is not working!
Thanks for the quick response. You’re right, just remove the closing bracket from the URL. I can’t edit the comment

I wanted to know if you could show me how to implement FontAwesome Icons on the theme… I have been trying to implement them because the ones you included (Stroke Icons) don’t look too good for what we wanted to do. Can you advise?
I think font awesome is easy to implement, so if you need that I think you can do that. I don’t have in my plans to include fontawesome.
your site continues to reject its usage, check jekyll.bytesandbeans.com so you see what I mean…
You just need to add font awesome css and fonts in the template and also to be careful with html because you have broken html modules. You need to remove the garbage code.
See this: http://imgur.com/a/hhln7Where in your code do you identify the variable {{ feature.icon }} ?
I think you need to modify the structure.
All variables are in config.yml file or template files:)
I figured it out. Now how can I remove the middle circle (the grey one?) or make it bigger.

You just need to remove the container from called circle, or you just need to increase the padding. PS: Can you remove the repeated message please? Thanks!
Awesome Work…
Thank you!
Hi, could you tell if your template works with SiteLeaf? http://siteleaf.com
I mean Jekyll and Siteleaf
When I created this theme, I didn’t have in mind SiteLeaf compatibility, but I am not sure if it’s compatible.
Is it possible a future revision of your theme to be compatible with it? I don’t think it would be much work to make it so and it would go a long way.
I try on next version to do that compatibility.
sweet ill purchase tonight.

bought it. hopefully you can add interconectivity to siteleaf.
Next version is in developing, but also wordpress versioin is in developing so I try to make all of this as fast as possible.
Any word when it would be out?
