The template: TownPress – Municipality & Town Government WordPress Theme has a bug. Under the documents, you can attach local or external links. The links do not show the attachment title but rather it shows the link url instead. Where can I adjust this or is this a bug? I tried different browsers and they all come up the same, showing the link url instead of the title of the url. Ex: attachment title: Zoning Permit and the link: xxx.pdf It shows the link but not the title. I need this to be changed so that the title shows instead of the link because of the community demographics are elderly, I need it to be as simple as possible . Thank you so much, Jeanette

I can’t get the weather widget to work properly. It shows the time, dates, but no temperatures. UPDATE: figured it out. Not obvious - in the US, just use the city name, US - don’t use the state abbr.

Can anyone tell me how to add an event that occurs two times per month without creating two events? Our town has council meetings every 1st and 3rd Tuesday. I want the front page to show the next council meeting which will not work if two events are created. Alternatively, is there a way to add a list of dates to an event? Thanks for anyone’s help.

unfortunately, such pattern is not possible to create, creating two events is the way to go in this case. You can add info about next two councils on your homepage as a workaround

Now that my site is live, all the upcoming events have automatically gone back to the original date, not the current date.
Not sure I understand. What original date? Try to go to Tools / Regen. Events if that helps.

I am sorry, but I need to see the screen of an event post (any of them), not the customization screen. Especially the start date, end date and recurrence settings (if any).
You can change the units to imperial when you edit the widget under Appearance / Widgets

Ok, this Fall Festival looks fine settings wise, but that Penokee is certainly wrong, the start/end dates refer to a single (first) occurrence, so its start/end dates does not make sense, but that shouldn’t affect the Fall Festival event. Does the events never worked for you or it stopped working recently? Try to go to Tools / Regen. Events and hit the button if that makes any change
Ok, I updated the Penokee event to use these dates – https://share.zight.com/nOuJdpwz, but it still doesn’t show. I don’t think the events every worked properly. I tried the tools > regenerate and that didn’t work either. It’s still showing no events – https://staging.mellenwi.com/events/. Do you have any other ideas? Maybe I can send you login info to review on your end?
Are you running PHP 7 or 8 with latest version of WordPress and is the theme itself up to date (the current version is 3.8.6)? There definitely seems something wrong on your server, but I have no idea what is causing it, the event settings seems alright.
You can try one more thing: deactivate the LSVR Events plugin, then activate it again and try the Tools / Regen. events again or/and simply resave the Fall Festival event post.
Hello, yes, we are running PHP 7.4.33 and we are on the latest version of Wordpress (6.4.2). However, I did as you suggested and deactivated/activated the plugin and did the regen and the issue is fixed! Thanks for your help!

I tried updating the townpress theme from 3.8.3 to the latest version. I am getting this error message.
The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet. Theme installation failed.
Do I need to delete the old theme first? What about the child theme? Does that also need to be updated? Thanks

Hi there. In the old version I could put the whole logo into the header. The new version seems only to allow a sqared logo. Is there a workaround to show a bigger logo? If I include it into the background image I fear for problems when the website is opened in displays wih different ratios than the laptop screen.

Hi,
you can add a search widget to a sidebar for example. You can assign sidebars to post pages under Appearance / Customize. However you can’t force the search widget to filter only through specific post types, it will always search globally, at least the default one.
