I know I don’t have support left but updating both WordPress & SportsPress to the newest versions (and doing nothing else) at once broke the site, I can’t publish changes anymore. What happens when updating the page and clicking Publish, it changes the text to: “Last updated: in one minute” (it’s not a scheduling issue, it happens even if I set date to 2020). I tried again with backup restore, it happened again. What do you think?

My Wordpress tells me that due to outdated Woo commerce templates in this theme, my Wordpress doesn’t save any changes done in the page builder anymore. How do I know I have the last version of the theme? I have the auto-update activated.

- The auto update for the theme is not the automatically updated but it requires one-click update.(You don’t have to go over the manual process so it names the auto update. Sorry for confusion)
For the template file, could you update the woocommerce/archive-product.php file with this new one, then, deactivate & activate the theme again for this.

3. You won’t loose any content or admin panel setting. However, make sure that you haven’t modified theme’s files directly, otherwise, the modified files will be overriden.

Here at GoodLayers, we take security issues very seriously. Before launching any of our themes, we ensure that they do not have vulnerabilities.
We can ensure that the problem won’t come from our theme for sure.
1. When we create themes, we do not create any custom functions to communicate with the database. We only use WordPress functions, so at this point, it will be on WordPress itself.
2. The vulnerabilities can be caused by third-party unreliable scripts that contact third-party URLs. In this case, we only use scripts that contact Google (to pull Google fonts), which is a reliable source.
3. Before launching the theme, Envato will perform theme reviewing, including checking for inappropriate coding. They ensure that all themes sold on the marketplace follow best practices for WordPress theme creation, and they will reject any theme if the code includes such a vulnerability.
However, these are possibilities of infection:
1. Using shared hosting, or maybe bad hosting, can cause such an issue. When another customer’s site on the same hosting (shared) as yours gets infected, your site will have a high risk then.
2. Vulnerabilities in third-party plugins are a common reason for WordPress site infections. Make sure that you use plugins that are well-implemented and follow best practices for WP plugin creation. Also, ensure that plugins are updated regularly to fix bugs and patch vulnerabilities (we do this with our products all the time).
3. Bad permission folder settings on your server. Make sure that they are securely set. 644 is recommended for PHP files, and 755 is recommended for folders. Missing the correct setting can allow hackers to edit files.
4. Password leaks. Make sure that you set very strong passwords for admin roles, CPanel, database passwords, etc.
There can be other reasons for these issues, but it’s good to have these things checked. Our demos and our site have A LOT of traffic each day, so if you get hacked by our themes, our server should be hacked by now, but nope, it hasn’t happened to us. Also, we have more than 180,000 customers using our themes, but very, very rarely do we hear about cases like yours (like 2-3 times only).
Here are some additional tips:
1. You can try using security WP plugins: https://kinsta.com/blog/wordpress-security-plugins/
2. It will be even better if you use DNS with security features. You may check out CloudFlare service. It’s quite useful.

And it’s hard to share the live error, because it is a live site and I can manually switch the hosting to PHP 8.0 or PHP 7.4. So if I switch to 8.0 the site is not accessible anymore…

Thanks. We made sure the 2.1.2 version of the theme is compatible with PHP 8. Could you make sure you have updated the included plugins as well? Particularly the Goodlayers Core plugin?
This error could be caused by any of your plugins as well, try disabling your other plugins to see if one of them is causing this issue.
If you still see the issue, please send the error log file so we can understand better. You can contact your hosting provider to get this file if you don’t have access to it. Errors logged here should still be available even if you switch the php version.
