Yes, you can add as many fields as you need in your MailChimp form.

Thanks – Steve

can i add blog categories in menu in demo 2 ?

Hello,

I need help installing the demo for the Applied theme i just purchased. Thank you!

Best, Leon

Have you installed One Click Demo Install plugin and run the install process? https://3forty.media/docs/applied/#demoimport

If you still need help you can email me 3fortymedia@gmail.com

I’m currently using your theme on my website: https://doeshing.site/. I’ve encountered an issue when adding new categories, and I hope you can help me resolve it.

Issue Description:

When I create a new category and add a description to it (via WordPress dashboard under “Categories”), the description unexpectedly appears in the category menu/header section. This behavior is inconsistent because the demo categories provided by the theme do not show the description in the same way—they work as expected.

Here’s a summary of what happens: 1. When creating a new category, the “Description” field content appears directly on the category page, specifically in the menu or header area. 2. However, when editing or using demo categories, the behavior is normal (the description does not appear unexpectedly).

You can see the issue live on my website: https://doeshing.site/.

What I’ve Tried:

• Checked theme settings but couldn’t find any options to control this behavior.
• Tested with different categories to confirm the issue is specific to newly created categories.
• Ensured plugins (e.g., SEO or caching) are not causing interference by deactivating them temporarily.

What I Need Help With:

Could you provide guidance on how to fix this? Specifically: 1. How can I prevent category descriptions from appearing in the menu/header? 2. Is there a way to replicate the demo category behavior for my new categories?

If there are specific files or settings I should check (e.g., template files like category.php or theme options), please let me know.

Thank you in advance for your assistance! I look forward to your response.

Hi,

Thanks for your message.

This will help: https://3forty.media/docs/applied/#menudescription

Thanks – Steve

Thanks for to reply,in the consequence, I added

```css .menu-description { display: none; } ```
This removes the description from the menu bar but keeps it visible on the category filter page, allowing descriptions to appear at the top of the page.
I believe this approach works better.
Hi Steve, is there a way to hide post view count? I didn’t find it in single post options. Thanks
Post Views > Display
Uncheck: Single Pages
Thank you. The view count is inflated.
Hi Steve, “Blue Sky” sign up is 1 million users per day. How can we add it to this theme?
cool! does it overwrite main footer and child function files?
I mean when you update
Yes, when you update your theme, all files will be overwritten so make sure you backup your changes so you can add them back in again.
You will not have to update CHILD theme functions, only the parent theme and plugin is updated.
Hello, What are the files I need to upload to my WP site so I can upadate the theme to the Nov 03, 2024 version ? I dont want to upload everything because i made some changes to header, footer, i’ve added some custom css..
inc/tgmpa.php inc/css/category-tags.php front-page.php archive.php home.php style.css
You will also need to update TFM Theme Boost Plugin
Thanks – Steve
Hi Support!
I have already purchased the Applied theme and I really like it. I have built a magazine website that publishes articles in Hungarian language for the audience.
I tried to rewrite the English parts of the theme in the .po file, but after several updates, nothing changed. I was thinking about the usual subtitles like ‘previous page’, ‘view’, ‘editor’, ‘by’ etc.
Maybe some other file overwrites the wp-content – themes – applied – language file? Thanks in advance for your help and feedback!
Hi,
Thanks for your message.
There is a guide here for translation: https://3forty.media/docs/applied/
You will need to translate the theme .pot file in languages/applied.pot and also TFM: Theme Boost plugin translation file in /plugins/tfm-theme-boost/languages/tfm-theme-boost.pot
I also have an update I’m releasing soon which includes a new translation file.
I hope this helps?
Thanks – Steve
Hi Steve, thanks for your quick reply and the useful info.
Hi Steve, When the theme is viewed on mobile, does it use css or javascript to switch to the smaller version of the attached images? Can you point those to me? I am using .avif images and it works fine on desktop, but when viewed on mobile, the smaller version of the .avif file, do not load.
Is there lazy load on the theme?
Also is there a way to adjust the scroll trigger so the “scroll to top” button show up further down the page?
Thanks
this is the bandaid for .avif files in smaller screen.
@media (max-width: 600px) { img, picture { display: block !important; visibility: visible !important; } }
The theme like you mentioned fetches only two images, one for mobile, but it’s still a so-so large image 768 for .avif at least.
When a post with .avif attachment is featured, and the post also appears in the grid below, the theme doesn’t know which image to use. Sometimes the larger image is forced into the grid thumbnail and the smaller low res image is featured and it’s obvious.
On occasion, the larger .avif image is forced into the 150×150 thumbnail. 150×150. avif files also appear in dev tools even when it’s not needed by the page.
This only happens with .avif files.
I’m trying to make the theme fetch other image sizes at least the 420px instead of just two (768.avif and the 1024.avif are the only ones being fetched) but it doesn’t seem to be working.
The browser decides which image to display. All available sizes are listed via srcset – standard WP functionality. You will usually have at least 3 image sizes available for the browser to choose from, I add an additional mobile size if you enable it.
If you are on a mobile device it’s likely that the browser is selecting a high res/larger image because of the mobile device pixel density. Also if an image is cached for example the large image has been viewed on a different page and cached, the browser will select that image most of the time.
Basically the image selection is a browser choice not a theme choice.
Thanks – Steve
note: WordPress checks for all available sizes of a given image and will list all that are available allowing the browser to choose which one it thinks is best.
Make sure the size you want is available on the server.
When embedding YouTube, it appears incorrectly like this. How can I fix it? https://prnt.sc/38wrsaFoIZ2I
How doe sit look on the front-end? Does it display properly on the front-end?
It looks the same on the front-end as it does in the editor.
You probably have a plugin that is causing this. Here’s YT embed in the demo running WP6.6.2 https://www.3forty.media/applied/demo/2024/04/26/astonished-and-acceptance-men-two-discretion/
Hi, The site’s logo looks quite small on mobile devices. How can I make it bigger?
https://prnt.sc/sMZgV9es9KsS
The logo is already uploaded for mobile there. The issue is that the logo appears small on mobile.
You can adjust the logo size for desktop, tablet and mobile;
Appearance → Customize → Applied: Theme Settings → Logo/Site Title Settings
  • Max Width Desktop
  • Max Width Large Mobile
  • Max Width Small Mobile
Thanks
Thank you.
Hi, I want to replace the standard site search icon of the theme with the icon from the plugin I purchased. How can I do this?
https://prnt.sc/dwrjWQ69yLEq
You would need a plugin for that.
I’m talking about the theme’s own site search feature. Why do I need an additional plugin?
Because Wordress does not include the ability to sort search results.
Hi guys, wondering how can i make that the main article not to be the same as the next in order as i show in the pic. thanks:
https://ibb.co/mcj9fPY
Is that the homepage with Featured Posts plugin?
Appearance > Customize > Applied: Theme Settings > Homepage Settings: Offset. Set to 1 (this will skip the first post in the blog list)
Thanks – Steve
Hi
Where can I replace or comment out mailchimp in the source code? I can’t find it in the footer files. I will use a different newsletter plugin.
Thanks
Appearance > Customize > Applied: Theme Settings > Footer Settings
and/or
Appearance > Widgets > Footer Column 1,2,3,4
Thanks – Steve
Thanks Steve. Got a different newsletter plugin to work. But I can’t match the background grey color. https://i.imgur.com/qzN1iRe.png Notice that it’s darker. Is it #f2f2f3?
The screenshot doesn’t work but the footer is #F7F8FA
Or simply remove any background from the plugin you are using.
Thanks – Steve
Hi, how can I edit the display of the article reading time? Always displays 1 minute! on the screen 1 1) https://prnt.sc/i0ePeI0X4BFT
How to add another display of 2 news to get 3 as above? as in the screenshot 2 2)https://prnt.sc/PipUZFn9jtra
Hi,
The read time may not work properly because if the language. You can try changing the wpm.
Add this to your functions.php file function tfm_custom_wpm_count() { return 300; } add_filter( 'tfm_read_time_wpm', 'tfm_custom_wpm_count' );
Change 300 to whatever you need and see if it makes a difference.
You can change the number of posts in blog list displays in Settings > Reading > Blog pages show at most
Thanks – Steve
Hi,
This looks like a plugin or server rewrite issue.
I assume you are using a plugin to generate the filtered query which is causing the suffix issue and the tags issue looks like a URL rewrite issue.
WP tag pages have the URL: /tag/tagname/.
Thanks – Steve
Hi! It’s me again. I have a question on the mobile site. When I scroll, the page slides from left to right or right to left. It’s not really locked. Let me know if you want me to get a screen grab to try to explain this better. Is there a setting that needs to change so this doesn’t happen?
What titles are you referring to?
I’m looking at the footer menu, for example “Have a Question” is broken into two lines.
You can either un-assign the footer menu form the footer nav location and instead use the nav block to display the footer menu OR add this to your custom CSS;
.footer-nav li.menu-item-has-children { flex-basis: 100%; }
Thanks – Steve
Hi, I have a few questions:
• Demo #1 shows the views on category pages as well as the homepage. How do you get that to work? I can’t seem to add the post views on any of them with the exception of featured posts.
• In the related Posts – view count not centered. They are left justified. Is this a bug?
• Can email be a sharing option? Or a copy link? To make sharing easier beyond social media.
• When trying to get the audio post format icon to work, I followed the steps for the image format, the “Appearance → Customize → Applied: Theme Settings → Image Format Settings” path does not exist
Thanks! Also, the purple is showing for a category when published, but not in draft mode (where the color was changed). Also, any way to do a social icon for Apple Podcasts?
Hi,
I have some color fixes highlighted in the bug list. These fixes should resolve your issue. I’ll release an update very soon.
Sure, I can add Apple Podcasts to the next update.
Thanks – Steve
Thanks so much!
Hello, i impoted demo 1 and everything worked fine however i deleted all posts and i added new ones, now i only see blog posts under the following text on the homapge: Whiteboards are remarkable, what was above this text is gone ( there were some nice thumbnails with post titles, and i dont know how to get them back. What am I doing wrong ?
Appearance > Customize > Applied: Theme Settings > General Settings:
Show Pagination Numbers
Show Pagination Prev/Next
Show Pagination Button Text
There is actually a bug in this which is fixed in the next update (you can’t hide the entire pagination)
So if you want to turn it off entirely try this;
.home .has-pagination .pagination { display:none; }
Thanks – Steve
Yes but this doesnt solve the problem, it just hides the pagination visually but in the source code there still are links to pages 2, 3, 4, 5 etc and search engines will index those :)
This is the bug that is fixed in the next update.
Hi I the other demos have page-wide search section before the footer, (1) is there one for Demo 4? (2) How do I create a new sidebar? (3) is there a way to shift social icons to the left https://imgur.com/a/z1aCFrs
thanks
Hi,
That’s not an option with the Latest Posts Gutenberg block but you can use the Applied: Posts Widget which does have that option.
Thanks – Steve
Hi Steve, going back again to the sidebars “2. There are a total of 7 sidebars. You can’t create a new one, you can populate the available sidebars with your your widgets and blocks.”
In the old theme, I have posts with affiliate links and I choose the “affiliate” sidebar for those, here the sidebar will be under categories, so I have to create a category called “affiliate?”
There is one static sidebar (as you see here https://www.3forty.media/applied/demo/ on the right) and six other sidebars (slide out sidebar, 4 footer sidebars, 1 sidebar after single content)
You can add your affiliate links to any of those sidebars.
If you choose to add your links to the static sidebar for example the links will be available wherever you set the sidebar. You can turn the static sidebar on/off for home, category and single posts (same sidebar, same widgets you just enable/disable the sidebar)
You could use widget visibility to hide/show widgets for specific pages, categories etc. https://jetpack.com/support/widget-visibility/
Thanks – Steve
Love this theme! I have a few quick questions. 1. Is there a separate mobile setup? 2. On category pages, is it possible to show the tags or subcategories or a filtered search? 3. Are Mega Menus available with this theme?
Hi,
Thanks for your message.
1. Yes, You can specify the layout (list or grid) and toggle meta.
2. Sorry no.
3. Not A Mega Menu but multi level, multi column menus are included (unfortunately I do not have a demo of them). See the docs here: https://3forty.media/docs/applied/#megamenu
So for example you can have a full width menu with up to 5 columns and each column has it’s own heading and menu items. And it uses just the default WP menus
I hope this helps?
Thanks – Steve
