Hello, Could you please tell me how to disable background images in user profiles? I want the profiles to display without any background image — just a plain background. Thank you!
Thanks for getting back to me! I want to remove the large background/cover image on the Single Profile page for all profiles, regardless of whether they are featured or not. The goal is to show profiles with no background image at all (just a plain background). I tried CSS like: .single-profile .profile-header, .single-profile .profile-header::before { background-image: none !important; background: none !important; } but it looks like the theme sets it via inline styles (or JS), so the image keeps reappearing. Is there an official way to disable it? a toggle in theme options, a filter/hook (e.g. return empty URL for the profile header background), or the recommended template override path (e.g. template-parts/profile-header.php) to safely remove the inline background? Site example: https://friends128.com/ (DateBook) I only want to remove the header background on the Single Profile view—not the grid/mosaic cards on Search/Home. Thanks a lot! Best regards, Gennadii
Hi. Disable this option WordPress -> DateBook -> Dashboard -> Featured profiles -> Enable default background images for Featured profiles.
At the moment, if the theme does not find your uploaded background images, then the theme loads its own background images for featured profiles (from this folder wp-content/plugins/datebook/assets/images/patterns). But this function will be removed in the next update.
If you do not want to show random background images, then you can delete all images in this folder. In this case, only your background images will be loaded uploaded here WordPress -> DateBook -> Dashboard -> Featured profiles -> Featured background images.
after update my menu is showing only at a specific screen size. the top menu toggler navbar-toggler ps-3 pe-3 collapsed only appears at a screen of max 920px.
Its only not opening when clicking on it.
I checked our demo site on many devices with different screen sizes. It is ok. The menu appears on all devices and work/open.
Perhaps, some third-party css style affects the menu on your site.
I tried this many times without plugins and i was able to replicate the issue on production and staging.
Hi Pagick,
I am testing now the latest release thoroughly and will post each bug seperately to follow up better.
Moderation Panel
Moderation Panel is no longer showing although it is setup correctly as a page from the last release.
Looking into the code, the class datebook-moderation-panel shows display:none
This is nothing I have added as a custom code. I am able to enforce it with costum-css but I think this will need a fix.
for the ones who are not familiar:
to enforce the moderation panel you can add the following code to themes>customize>additional css
Please make a backup or test on staging first:
nav.navbar.navbar-dark.navbar-expand.bg-dark.opacity-75.p-0.datebook-moderation-panel { display: unset !important; }
Hi LeonGeb. Yes, the moderation class has display: none. But the CSS file also has a new code “display: block !important”. So the moderation panel is hidden for milliseconds only at the beginning of page loading. After the css file is loading, the moderation panel must display.
Solution: clean the cache and update the page in browser with CTRL + F5.
hi pagick, I tried this multiple times but the moderation panel does not appear without me enforcing it with custom css. as always im testing this with no plugins activated and on staging.
Hi LeonGeb. At least you did it. You solved the issue, and the moderation panel appear. Great. But please, do not think that you will have to solve all issues on your side. Of course, I will try to fix/solve all issues myself. Thank you.
hi pagick, the problem is that while you do corrections, some are just taking too long. I.e. the amount showing in the woocommerce dashboard eventhough its free, which i brought up many times over 4 months now. This may not be a huge point for people without business or not paying taxes for their business but it puts businesses like mine on the spot of tax-authorities. I never expected to resolve issues myself but I will also not wait until its too late I get trouble with the chamber of commerce because of a bug that was brought up months ago. Once its fixed I can always revert the additional code to keep the theme clean for future updates.
Hi Pagick,
I created the childtheme yesterday but when i activate it shows me only the footer but no other content. When inspecting the page, i can see that the body consists only of this part showing no error.
It looks like <main class=”container”></main> is beint output by the template as a empty section.
I tried to copy page-datebook.php to the child theme but that didnt work either.
The container remains empty. Can you help?
hi pagick, i was able to fix the amount issue (https://themeforest.net/comments/31670534) by adding code to the functions.php (parent theme). The price is set to 0 when its free and its showing correctly in the woocommerce order summary.
I just need this to be in the child theme which currently breaks my theme. can you help?
Hi LeonGeb. I do not understand fully why the amounts are different.
Actually, you must set the price the same both in WooCommerce Product and in Subscription plan. In this case, the amount will be exactly what you set.
For example: go here WordPress -> WooCommerce -> Products -> open a product for editing -> set the price 0 (zero).
go here: WordPress -> DateBook -> Subscription plans -> open a plan for editing -> set the price 0 and also select a product above in the field “WooCommerce Subscription”.
Done! Now the price must be 0 when a user pays. Everywhere, the price must display 0.
If I misunderstood you, then some screenshots could help me understand the issue better and faster.
How does the child theme breaks your theme? The child theme does not have any code. The child theme must work the same way as the parent theme. It cannot affect your site differently.
@amounts you are describing how to make a subscription free in general, not by gender.
HTR: set pricing for both datebook and woocommerce (as you described) and set i.e. 200$
in datebook subscriptions set the subscription to Free for female.
Now login to a female account (dont use shadowing) and go to subscription
What you see (which is correct or at least ok) the original price (200$) with the green text that you can get this for free (because its a female account)
When you click on the purchase button you will see the breakdown (sub, vat, total) still showing 200$
Now, when you purchase it, it will not ask for payment or doesnt even display payment options (so its making the subscription technically free) and you can purchase it.
now as admin go to woocommerce orders look up the last purchase and there you will see that the amount total is still 200 which should be 0 because it was for free.
Conclusion: While for the user its free, in terms of woocommerce order and of course the tax rules it was NOT free. Which (again) means that in my tax statement, these are added as purchased and not giveaway or promotion. So i have to pay taxes for it.
I can do a video with a side by side comparison but i really think i explained this thourougly and at multiple occations.
thanks Leon
and just for comparison and transparency:
when i use the additional code i see this
when i login as the femal acocunt and go to subscription, it still shows me the original price and the text that i can get it for free (which is again ok)
but when i purchase it and it takes me to the cart, the price is zeroed. after purchase and going to the woocommerce orders, i lookup the recent purchase and see that there it also shows as 0.- purchase.
conflusion:
correct handling of prices
correct reports
correct tax statements
no jail for me
@childtheme i created a basic child theme connected the parent accordingly and when i switch to the childtheme it shows me the blank page. maybe i am overseeing something. I ddi check the documenattions online on how to create a childtheme, datebook has no such section.
i think the general problem is that datebook is pulling many pages/templates and i am obviously missing all these templates on my childtheme. it would be helpful if you could document how to create a childtheme with the requirements needed.
There is a problem with 3rd-Party-Editors. I am using WPBakery and its being overwritten with other editors (meaning when i open a page or post, it shows another editor eventhough in my bakery settings for pages and posts the WPBakery plugin is to be prioritized). I have deactived the Gutenberg editor and for some reason even when i deactivate the Otter editor, it still shows as an editor which is a little scary.
Hi. Today, I will check the issues you described. And it all will be fixed. Thank you much.
please disregard, this is working after reinstalling the plugin
Hi Pagick.
I replied to your previous message about the database table.
In this specific message, I’m having a problem editing the page with Elementor (it seems there’s a problem with “The REST API did not correctly process the CONTEXT parameter of the query.”)
I’ve already tested with all plugins excluded on the page, but the editor doesn’t open. I’ve also tried restoring a previous version of Elementor, but that didn’t work. I have version 4.9.7 of the theme on the staging site.
I have always opened the page without problems and the plugins I have are always the same
Thank you
Hi. Today, I will check the issues you described. And it all will be fixed. Thank you much.
?
here are additional issues:
Images are showing although still waiting for approval
the features are still not able to activate
feature info on the left side (profile) is only showing the feature status (not the top status)
the report window is not closing after submitting the report
right now its a no-go for an update for me.
i added a moderator to the datebook settings. but its not showing me the moderation panel of that account. This is a newly registered person on staging to test functionalities
hi pagick you can ignore “features are still not able to activate”
Hi Pagick,
I am planning to involve a DEV Team to fix potential issues after an update. We will use a Childtheme to apply code patches and updates to make it still udpateable with your releases. We will also add new features if possible without tempering with the parent theme.
Can you let me know if there is anything we should specifically be aware of?
Thanks in advance.
After the latest plugin update, several critical issues have appeared on the site: SEO and Rank Math shortcodes Rank Math shortcodes are still not working. All profiles are displayed without proper SEO data. How can this be fixed? Photo Upload and Deletion After uploading a photo, it does not appear immediately; it only becomes visible after refreshing the page. The photo deletion function also does not work. Notes: It is good that profile descriptions appear after the update, but all the above issues significantly affect the site’s usability. Please provide recommendations or fixes for all these problems as soon as possible. Thank you!
Hi Pagick,
Can you be more specific on the release note so users know what actually has been fixed so we know what to test on staging? “fixed ajax” can be different things and we mostly know only the bugs we individually report but not what others have reported. thanks for your consideration.
Do i need to wait for next update?? How soon please?
Hi. I received your message about Brizy page builder. I will be glad to install the theme and correct everything for you. Could you send me the login credentials to your WordPress admin area please? This way, the installation will be faster.
Okay
Waiting!
I will setup Brizy and everything today. Everything will be completed in few hours.
Hi pagick,
More and more thing seem to be not working with the latest release. I’m honestly losing my confidence applying an update without thoroughly testing it. Are we expected to test this in the smallest details? If so, we should know. I can’t easily roll back updates due to new registrations and rolling back to updates that were troublesome in the first place, should not be the way to go.
On staging without plugins except datebook:
assigning top and featured dates are no longer working canceling active top and features dates are also not working likes and favorites are no longer working
I tried this on staging and production with the same procedure
Hi LeonGeb. Thank you for your message. I will fix all bugs. The update with the fix will be available soon.
These bugs appeared in the last update, because the moderation page and some functions changed.
thanks pagick, please note vis-a-vis likes and favorites. I noticed that when i click on them, the update is not immedieately applied. its only visible after refreshing the page.
you can disregard “likes and hearts no longer working”
Hi Pagick, something to put on the backlog:
the feature “buy as admin” where I am logged as admin and go to a users page (basically shadowing him) and then to the subscription page, is no longer available.
It used to say something along the line of “buy this as admin” and the user receives the subscription for free and already active without him doing anything.
I have a campaign running where app-users I invite, receive 1 year free. For now i am doing it with coupons and pricing the subscription with 400$.
It would be nice to have that feature back though.
Thanks for considering!
Hi. Seems 4.9.6 have some more issues. I mentioned earlier it briefly shows the basic moderation page to admins. Which is ok. But then I found out now that it also affects woocommerce plugin. It can not connect and says – There was an error getting your inbox. Please try again. After revert back to 4.9.5 all good again. Is there anything we could do to fix on our side or we wait for next working release from you?
Hi. Thank you for your message. The bug will be fixed very soon. The update will be available very soon.
Hi Pagick.
I sent you an email now with a link to a very short video where, in the first few seconds, you can see what’s happening on the website at the top left of the page.
You haven’t answered my question (a question from ten days ago) about which table in the database groups all the “Custom Fields” settings.
I’m waiting for your feedback, especially regarding the issue of inserting external elements, since you tweaked the HTML code in the latest update.
Hi RaCLD. Thank you for the video. The bug has been fixed. The update with the fix will be available very soon.
The custom fields are array. When saving it, WordPress serializes and stores them in this table: wp_options -> datebook_profile_custom_fields.
Regarding the issue of inserting external elements. Do you mean adding html in the email templates? If yes, I will see what can be done.
Thank you for your important messages. I apologize for not answering some of your questions.
Hi Pagick. Thanks for your input.
Unfortunately, I searched for the wp_options -> datebook_profile_custom_fields folder, but nothing was found.
Could you please clarify?
One other thing I wanted to add: where are the “photo approval requests: pending” displayed in the backend?
Thanks
Hi RaCLD. If “datebook_profile_custom_fields” does not exist, then it means this field has not been added yet. I wonder if you used Theme Installer here: WordPress -> DateBook -> Theme Installer.
Do the following:
1) go here WordPress -> DateBook -> Theme Installer.
2) click on the “3. Install” button.
Done!
Regarding the photo approval. No, the image moderation is not displayed in the backend. You can see pending images on the frontend, in the moderation panel.
Pagick, are you sure about the advice you’re giving me?
My site’s custom fields are present, and there are 37 of them, but at the same time, in datebook > theme installer > I have this situation (see image).
What happens if I click again on section number 3 you’re suggesting? Will the content be duplicated?
https://ibb.co/1YPVb6Y2Thanks
Pagick,
please give me some direction on how to proceed here too, thanks!
?
Hi pagick, there seems to be an issue with administrating users. I login as wp-admin, go to the profile click on “administrate” and then “suspend” or “activate” and it just refreshes the page but does not apply the new status. I also tried to set the top and featured dates and it doesnt work. I need these profiles to be deactivated because they don’t have an image uploaded but its concerning that i can’t even assign them top and featured status.
Can you check please?
this was tested on both production and staging and in both cases with only datebook plugin activated
oh ok. so it seems like when i add the image and remove it again, the status gehts automatically “inactive” i can work with that for now
Hi LeonGeb. Thank you for your message. The bug has been fixed. The update will be available very soon.
thanks pagick. appreciated it
This is probably a dumb question but I’m lost:
i have “my account” and “logout” showing abobe the footer HTML but I can’t find where to remove it.
I tried in widget, datebook/footer, appearance/costumize/footer. Can you tell me how to get rid of it?
These links can be found in this file: wp-content/plugins/datebook/templates/login/login-register-links.php
Hi. As also pointed out by someone else, after 4.9.6 update a basic page of moderation appears for fraction of seconds every time pages are navigated. As you commented for them, I tried the steps to add moderation page which seems to have fixed the issue for user profiles but me as a moderator I still see this. Is this intended? As a moderator I am ok unless this means some bug in this case please help fix it.
Hi. This is not a bug. But the moderation panel loads before a CSS file. That’s why you see the moderation panel without style. It will be fixed in the next update. Thank you for your message.
Hi! After upgrading to version 4.9.6, a compatibility error with Rank SEO Math appeared and the styles in the design of the Awesome icons also fell off. Please fix it as soon as possible.
Hi. We have fixed some functions. I hope the issue you described will be fixed in the next update. Thank you for your message.
