I am creating a website for my client using your theme

I’m facing a serious issue while using the 6.7.3 version of the theme with Shopify OS 2.0.

The demo homepage JSON provided (for example sections like slide-show, spotlight-block, brand-slider, product-block, etc.) references section types that do not exist as .liquid files in the /sections directory of the installed theme or are named differently.

Because Shopify OS 2.0 strictly validates section types, this results in errors such as: “FileSaveError: Section type ‘spotlight-block’ does not refer to an existing section file”, making it impossible to save or import the demo JSON.

It appears the demo JSON and the actual shipped section files are out of sync (possibly due to renamed, merged, or removed sections).

Could you please clarify:

Whether there is an updated demo JSON that exactly matches the current section filenames, or

The correct mapping between demo section names and the actual section files in the theme, or

The recommended OS 2.0–compliant way to recreate the demo homepage without manual JSON edits.

Since OS 2.0 does not allow missing or unknown section types, this is currently blocking development

We are still waiting for you to update the rest of the themes to Ella 7.0. As you mentioned previously, with each release more themes would be added to the list. So far, nothing has happened.

Thank you very much for following our updates and for your patience.

We are still in the process of adding more homepage layouts to Ella 7, and this work is ongoing. However, at the moment, our priority is to focus on more critical aspects such as issue fixes, stability improvements, and adding essential features to ensure the best possible user experience.

We truly appreciate your understanding and hope you can give us a bit more time so we can release these updates in the most polished and reliable way.

So there is no option in Ella 7 to display the collection description at the bottom. If you believe this option exists, please guide me.

Hi Friend,

Ella 7 is very flexible, and you can set this up as follows:

- Under the Collection template, add a new section “Custom section”, then add a “Text” block to this section: https://prnt.sc/IHvDIlSV8BKr

- Remove the default dummy text in the Text block: https://prnt.sc/EvJvLJh61r2H

- Click Connect dynamic source and select the collection description metafield: https://prnt.sc/8DHERR-7yogo

- The collection description will then display at the bottom like this: https://prnt.sc/70ZZC35eZmFk

Thank you.

In the Ella 7 theme, the option to position the collection description at the bottom is no longer available, whereas this functionality existed in Ella 6 under the collection banner. Additionally, on mobile devices, the classic homepage header creates a noticeable and unattractive gap between the logo and the main homepage slider.

Several other bugs also exist within the theme, and although your support team has addressed some of them, such as the header gap, the fixes were applied without any explanation of the steps taken. I strongly recommend that your development team review and revise these sections to ensure these issues are resolved permanently, rather than requiring repeated support requests for the same problems.

So I would not recommend Ella 7.

Thank you for taking the time to share these detailed points. We’d like to clarify a few aspects to provide better context for other users reading this feedback.

In Ella 7, the structure was redesigned to align with Shopify’s new Theme Blocks architecture. Some options that existed in Ella 6 are no longer available in the same way. This is a structural change, not a bug. While we understand that some users may prefer the older layout behavior, Ella 7 is not designed to replicate Ella 6 layouts on a 1:1 basis.

We absolutely agree that permanent improvements should be addressed at the theme level whenever applicable. At the same time, it’s important to distinguish between: Theme limitations or structural changes introduced by Shopify’s new architecture: and Store-specific customization requests, which are handled on a case-by-case basis.

Ella 7 focuses on flexibility, performance, and future compatibility with Shopify’s platform. While this comes with a learning curve—especially for users transitioning from Ella 6—it has also been positively received by many users who value the freedom to build new layouts beyond fixed structures.

We appreciate all constructive feedback, as it helps us clarify expectations and continue improving the theme for the broader community.

Many users who are familiar with the Ella 6 Jewelry homepage may prefer its menu and search section styling. When transitioning to Ella 7, they often find it challenging to replicate the same look and feel, as the new theme introduces different design structures and customization options.

While Ella 7 offers advanced features, flexible layouts, and modern enhancements that are widely appreciated, it is important to consider those users who value the simplicity and familiarity of Ella 6. To support them, it would be highly beneficial to create instructional videos demonstrating how to customize Ella 7 so that the menu and search section can be styled in a way similar to Ella 6. Such resources would make the transition easier and ensure that users can enjoy the new features of Ella 7 without losing the design elements they loved in Ella 6.

Thank you for sharing this perspective — we completely understand why users who are familiar with the Ella 6 Jewelry homepage may prefer its menu and search styling. When moving to Ella 7, the difference in structure can indeed feel challenging at first.

However, we would like to clarify an important point for context. Ella 7 is not designed to replicate Ella 6 layouts on a 1:1 basis. It is built on Shopify’s new Theme Blocks architecture, which introduces a fundamentally different way of structuring headers, menus, and search components. Because of this, recreating an identical look from Ella 6 is not a standard setup process, but rather a customization task that can vary significantly depending on the store and requirements.

While Ella 7 offers much greater flexibility and freedom in building new layouts — something many users appreciate — this also means it is no longer constrained to the fixed structures used in Ella 6. As a result, it is not practical to provide universal tutorial videos showing how to replicate specific Ella 6 designs inside Ella 7, since these changes are not part of the official demos and would require case-by-case custom development.

That said, we absolutely understand the learning curve for users transitioning from Ella 6. This is why we continue to improve our documentation and provide clear guidance for standard demo setups and supported customization options within Ella 7. For users who wish to achieve a closer visual match to older designs, custom development remains the appropriate and supported approach.

I would like to clarify that my intention is not to discourage building the theme according to the latest Shopify theme block architecture. Rather, my focus is on ensuring that the process remains simple, user-friendly, and supported with clear instructional resources. In particular, I strongly recommend the creation of comprehensive tutorial videos that explain the Ella 7 structure and customization in a way that users can easily understand.

While you have mentioned that videos will be considered, I sincerely hope that such resources will be developed for every theme demo to guide users through customizing each section effectively. Until these instructional videos are available, however, I would not advise Ella 6 users to transition to Ella 7, as understanding the new section customization remains a critical requirement.

Hi Friend,

Thank you again for taking the time to share your perspective — your feedback is truly appreciated.

We completely understand your point that the transition from Ella 6 to Ella 7 may not feel straightforward, especially for users who are already familiar with the previous setup. Ella 7 introduces a new way of building pages through Shopify’s Theme Blocks and our flex sections, and this certainly requires some adjustment.

At the same time, we would also like to clarify that many customers have shared very positive feedback about Ella 7, particularly regarding the flexibility that the new system offers. The flex section structure allows users to create layouts with far more freedom, rather than being limited to the fixed section arrangements from Ella 6. For users who enjoy customizing their store design more dynamically, this has been a meaningful improvement.

Of course, we understand that this level of flexibility can also feel unfamiliar at first — and that’s exactly why your suggestion about clearer documentation and tutorial videos is so valuable. These resources will help bridge the learning curve for Ella 6 users who are transitioning to Ella 7.

We sincerely appreciate your thoughtful comments, and we will absolutely take them into account as we continue improving both the theme and the learning materials around it. If you have specific ideas or examples of what you’d like to see in future tutorials, we’d be grateful to hear them.

Thank you once again for contributing to the improvement of the Ella theme.

The Ella 7 theme has become significantly more complex and challenging for users who are accustomed to the Ella 6 version. While the developer’s intention may have been to enhance the theme, the result has compromised its user-friendliness compared to Ella 6. Customization is not straightforward, as users are unable to make adjustments independently without relying on developer support. Furthermore, the support team performs the customizations without providing guidance or instructions on how these changes are implemented, leaving users uninformed.

During my experience, I installed the classic homepage; however, upon preview, the menu and search styles differed from those showcased in the demo. Despite considerable effort, I was unable to replicate the demo styling, as the relevant customization options were either difficult to locate or possibly unavailable. I strongly urge the developers to reconsider this approach and prioritize simplicity and clarity, particularly for existing Ella 6 users. At the very least, comprehensive tutorial videos should be provided to demonstrate how each section can be customized in alignment with the demo pages. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Ella 7 to users currently working with Ella 6.

Hello,

Thank you for sharing such detailed feedback about Ella 7. We truly appreciate constructive comments like yours, and we would like to clarify a few points to better support you.

1. Regarding the differences between Ella 7 and Ella 6:

Ella 7 has been completely rebuilt based on Shopify’s new Theme Blocks architecture. This change is required by Shopify to ensure long-term compatibility and access to future platform features. Because this is a “from the ground up” rebuild, the experience can feel different from Ella 6, especially for users who are already familiar with the previous structure. However, the new architecture provides many long-term benefits, including better performance, improved scalability, and more powerful customization capabilities.

2. About documentation and tutorial videos:

We are actively updating our documentation and truly appreciate your suggestion about adding more tutorial videos. This is a very valuable recommendation, and we will take it into consideration for our upcoming content plans.

3. About the customization support you received without a detailed explanation:

Your request involved modifying Header A to look like Header B, and Header B is not part of the official Ella 7 demos. This means the change falls under custom work, which requires adjustments across multiple parts of the code—so it is not a simple or straightforward modification that can be explained quickly.

Although your free support period has already expired, we still made an exception to help you with this customization at no cost, in the spirit of providing a better user experience. We hope you can understand that offering a full technical breakdown of a complex custom modification is not always feasible.

4. About setting up the demo to match the official demo layout:

Displaying a homepage layout/header layout exactly like the demo is very simple—just import the preset, and the layout will match 100%. We are not entirely sure which part you had trouble with, so you may find this guide helpful: https://halosoft.gitbook.io/ella-7-documentation/installation-and-update/import-layout-as-demo/preset-for-homepages

If you can share a screenshot or describe the issue more specifically, we would be very happy to review it and guide you step-by-step.

You can continue to keep in touch with us via your private ticket.

Thank you.

Hello together! I’m very confused and disappointed. We’ve been using the High Fashion theme for a long time and it used to work very well. But the new Update 7 has introduced many bugs so many that I don’t even have the time to list them all here. The design quality has also dropped significantly. How is it possible that an update makes the theme worse instead of improving it?!! is that a error and u work on it or should we back the old version again!!?

Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out, and we’re sorry to hear that your experience with Ella version 7 has not been as smooth as expected.

Ella version 7 is a fully rebuilt version based on Shopify’s newest Theme Block foundation. This major rebuild was necessary to ensure long-term compatibility, improved performance, and future-proof technology. Since this is a completely new structure, it is considered a separate version, and upgrading is optional, not mandatory. You can set it up in your Theme Library and test all the new features without affecting your live store. When you feel comfortable with the setup, you may publish it later.

One of the biggest advantages of Ella 7 is the freedom to build layouts. With the new Flex Sections system, you can create almost unlimited custom layouts, rather than being restricted to fixed sections as in the previous version. This is particularly beneficial for stores that need flexible structure or long-term scalability.

Regarding the issues you mentioned, we would be happy to review them in detail to confirm whether they are bugs and provide immediate support. Please submit a ticket through our support system here: https://halosoft.ticksy.com/

If your support has expired, please choose the Report Theme Bugs category as shown here: https://prnt.sc/Fbi2h_mFc9FF . Including screenshots will help us speed up the process significantly. Our technical team will check and get back to you as soon as possible.

Additionally, please rest assured that we will continue improving Ella 7 over time. Our roadmap includes:

- Bringing back the most useful features from Ella 6

- Adding new features aligned with upcoming Shopify updates

Our goal is to make Ella 7 stronger and more capable over time, ensuring it becomes the best choice for customers who need flexibility and scalability.

Thank you again for your understanding and patience during this version transition. We look forward to assisting you further and resolving any issues promptly.

Hi, I’m thinking about using the Ella Shopify theme (OS 3.0) for a site similar to yours (https://calcolostipendionett.it). Do you think Ella is a good choice in terms of performance, customization, and ease of management? I’d love to hear your experience with it.

Hi there,

Thank you for your interest in our Ella theme!

Ella 7 is our next-generation Shopify theme, built to give your store flexibility, speed, and a stunning design. It’s based on Shopify Theme Blocks and a modern codebase, offering continuous improvements and smooth performance. Some key features include:

- Flex Sections: Build any page layout with drag-and-drop, fully customizable, no coding needed.

- High Performance: Lightning-fast load times with optimized code, next-gen image formats (WebP/AVIF), and improved caching.

- Mobile-First Design: Smooth shopping experience on all devices, touch-friendly navigation included.

- Accessibility Ready: WCAG-compliant for better usability for everyone.

- Advanced Customization: Easily manage typography, colors, and layouts to fit your brand.

However, the website you shared looks more like a calculator / tool-based website, which uses custom logic rather than typical e-commerce features. Shopify and themes in general do not include built-in calculator or custom scripting tools. If you want to create a site with similar functionality, you may need to use a Shopify app or add custom code to handle the calculation features.

If you want a site built exactly like that, we also offer a Theme Development service, where our team can provide a fully personalized solution to fit your needs. You can send us your request here: https://halothemes.net/pages/project-request if you’d like to proceed.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. We’re happy to help!

Hy

I prefer the Jewelry homepage header style and the Hair Wigs homepage header from Ella theme version 6.7.4. However, in the newly introduced Ella 7 version, I do not find the Jewelry homepage header style appealing.

I would like to use the Jewelry homepage header or the Hair Wigs homepage header from Ella 6.7.4 within Ella 7.

I have attempted to replicate the Jewelry homepage header style using several homepage header options available in Ella 7, but I was unable to achieve the desired result.

Please also tell when you will release Hair Wigs homepage for Ella 7 and please do not change the Hair Wigs homepage header style for Ella 7.

Regards

Hi Friend,

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with us. We completely understand your preference for the Jewelry and Hair Wigs homepage header styles from Ella 6.7.x.

We would like to clarify a few things to help you better understand our direction with Ella 7:

For Ella 7, some of the older homepages from Ella 6 have been redesigned. Our goal is to provide layouts that look more modern, follow updated UX best practices, and offer a better overall user experience while still keeping the same skin.

Because of this, both the Classic and Jewelry homepages have been redesigned, and in the future, the Hair Wigs homepage will also receive a refreshed design to keep it more current and polished.

Regarding the header, Ella 7 no longer uses the exact same header styles from Ella 6. The header system has been updated to improve flexibility, performance, and modern UI standards.

However, if you prefer a header style similar to the old Ella 6 version, we can absolutely guide you or assist you in setting it up to look as close as possible.

hi i wanted to buy this theme on Sale (discount) i just checked 4 hours before it was available and right now its not available can you guide me when i will get another discount so I can buy this theme

Hi there,

Thank you for your interest in our theme!

The sale for BFCM ran from November 19 to December 2, ending at 12:59 PM (UTC). Once the promotion period ended, the item prices automatically returned to their original rates.

Currently, there aren’t any upcoming sales events from Envato. Unfortunately, we’re also unable to offer individual discounts, as Envato does not support that feature.

That said, Ella is truly worth the investment – it’s a highly versatile theme packed with powerful features, flexibility, and premium design quality that can help elevate your store and boost conversions.

If you have any other questions, feel free to let us know!

Hello, I would like to use parts of various demos. How can I achieve this?

Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out!

You can follow the Ella documentation to install any sections you want into your store. If you’re not sure about the exact name of a section, please capture a screenshot of the section from the Ella demo and submit a ticket through our support system: https://halosoft.ticksy.com/ . We’ll be happy to check it for you and guide you on how to add it to your store.

I am using the child theme “teaandcoffee” and the sections are very limited. How can i get the additional sections as with the other themes?

Hi there,

Child themes have not been updated to Online Store 2.0 yet. We will include the design of the child themes in the upcoming Ella version updates, and they will be removed once we complete this process in the next Ella release.

For long-term use and access to the full range of sections and features, we highly recommend switching to the Ella theme. You can log in to your Envato account to download the latest version of Ella, then follow the documentation here to set up the theme: https://halosoft.gitbook.io/ella-7-documentation

Hi there, how do you add the Dietary Supplement theme please – can find it in the zip anywhere?

Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out!

The Dietary Supplement layout is one of the available homepages in the Ella theme — it is not a separate theme. To use this homepage, you will first need to install the Ella theme source. This layout is currently included in Ella 6. Please follow the instructions here to install Ella 6: https://halosoft.gitbook.io/ella-documentation/installation/install-theme

Note: When you install the theme, you will get the default homepage layout. If you want to change layout, you need to follow these instructions: https://halosoft.gitbook.io/ella-documentation/installation/install-theme#step-2-upload-settings-data-for-home-page

If you have any questions or need assistance while setting up, please don’t hesitate to submit a ticket at our support system https://halosoft.ticksy.com/ . Images would expedite the process a lot. Our team will check and guide you accordingly.

I’m attempting to setup my store from scratch on Ella 7.0.1 and it appears that the marquee scrolling doesn’t work. I ensured I had text long enough to not all fit on the screen and I’ve tried it with Animations set to both Auto and Scroll. Nothing I do is making a difference.

Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out!

This is strange. We’ve checked the marquee on our demo and it’s working correctly: https://prnt.sc/_U5hf4y_24LC . For some reason, in the Theme settings in Ella 7.01, I dont see the Collection Cards and Blog Cards settings that you have in the Documentation. Was that removed? https://postimg.cc/K1QXcYJY

Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out and bringing this to our attention!

Yes, the Collection Cards and Blog Cards settings were removed in Ella starting from version 7.0.1. Ella 7 is built on Shopify Theme Blocks and uses flexible sections, so you can configure collection and blog layouts directly within the section settings here: https://prnt.sc/Asg-W-rlVFps – there’s no need for separate options in Theme Settings.

We appreciate you pointing this out! The Ella 7 documentation has been updated to avoid any confusion in the future.

Hello, I purchased your theme and followed the step-by-step installation, but not all pages loaded; in fact, only the homepage. It also did not provide sample images on the homepage. Please help.

Hello, We bought a support extension, but in the support ticket system, we still see “Sorry, support for this Envato Market purchase code has expired. You will need to extend support or purchase a new license.”. Even if we linked our Envato account to your system ticket and even if we see “Verified” next to the Ella theme when we want to create a ticket. What could we do ? Thank you.

Okay, I was able to solve the bug by Sign Out then loging again. Sorry.

Hi there,

We noticed that you’ve successfully created a support ticket. Our team will review your ticket and get back to you soon. Thank you so much!

2 questions: 1: ARE YOU PLANNING ON ADDING SHOPPABLE VIDEOS OPTION? It’s a must these days. 2: is there an option to finally do linked products? to see 3 different item on the exact product page details, like t-shirt-hoodie etc, same as they have here https://postimg.cc/q6T1BK4f

Hi there,

We’re back in the office after the weekend and thank you for your questions!

Q1: You can absolutely add shoppable videos to your Shopify store; however, this feature is added through supported apps rather than directly through the theme itself. To implement shoppable videos, you’ll need to install a compatible app from the Shopify App Store that allows you to create and configure interactive video content. Once created, these videos can automatically sync with the Shop app home feed, allowing customers to discover and shop your products directly through the videos.

You can find more details here: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/online-sales-channels/shop/manage-shop-store/video

Q2: Yes, the Ella theme supports a feature similar to what you’ve shown — it’s called Combined Product Listing. This function allows Shopify merchants to display products available in multiple variations under one unified product listing. Each variation can have its own image carousel, unique URL, and individual publishing controls, helping customers view related product options more easily.

You can see a demo of this feature here: https://new-ella-demo-07.myshopify.com/collections/combined-products-listing?&preview_theme_id=137554722921

If you have any questions or would like guidance on how to set these up, please don’t hesitate to submit a ticket through our support system: https://halosoft.ticksy.com/ . Our team will be happy to assist you further!
