Hi This looks a great theme but I would really love a responsive version, any plans for that?

We plan to make some responsive themes in the future, probably one will be similar to Storm. But I can’t promise it will be any time soon.

You can follow us for updates.

Dear TC, I need to know a couple of things:

1 – Is it safe to update Wordpress to the release version 3.5.1 or the theme will brake? At the moment I’m using the version 3.5.

2 – I don’t understand how the links in the gallery work, example: If you go to the gallery page and click on the miniature of “Bollar” image, it will be opened in the full screen viewer, as expected. But, in the gallery page, if you click on the image title, and not on the miniature of it, it seems that it will open the page of the category that image belongs to. Even if that page has the name of that photo (in this case “bollard”). And, oddly, in the lower part of that page, there are the “previous” and “next” links to other images that belongs to other categories.

Is it possible to change this behavior? Clicking on the image title, I’d like to go on that image’s page, which should contain the image preview as well as a text content (for example EXIF data or a link to an in-depth explanation in the “photoblog” section).

Surely I did a mistake, but I don’t know where…

Thank you in advance for your support :-)

1. Yes it is safe to update to 3.5.1

2. To be honest I’m not sure what is happening here. The title should link to the individual page for the portfolio item. I can take a look at the setup in WP to figure it out, could you please send over administrator login details to the contact form on my profile page.

Hey TC, on the live preview of the theme the Columns shortcode have nice formatting, however when I do the same thing on my site there is no border, background, just empty space with whatever content I put in there. Is that by design? How can I get mine to look like those on the demo? Thanks!

http://demos.themecatcher.net/storm-wordpress/shortcodes/columns

Hi,

Yes, it’s meant to be like that. All I have done on the page is used the Boxes shortcode within the Columns shortcode. The boxes are the Basic box option. Try it out.

Regards, Allan

Got it! That makes sense. Took me a little time to get it the way I wanted but works great. Thanks again.

In addition to my last request, the form builder doesn’t seem to want to let me insert a form into a page. I can create the form without any issues and I can see the form in the drop-down list when clicking the “add form” button, but when I click insert, nothing happens.

Any ideas?

It’s most likely a conflict with another plugin, I haven’t been able to replicate the problem in order to fix it. You can get the shortcode you need by editing the form and clicking “Add to Website” at the top.

I can investigate the problem further, if you don’t mind, if you can send admin login details and the admin URL to the contact form on my profile page.

Could you also tell me what browser and browser version this happens in?

Regards, TC

I’ll get you the login details shortly.

The only plugin I’ve installed is the one recommended in the documentation – the one for the forms.

I’m using Chrome and Firefox.

I’ve gone ahead and given this theme a 5 star rating, purely because the technical questions have been responded to so professionally and efficiently :D

Hi there – great theme! It’s very informative. However, I do have one question. Is there a shortcode or a string of HTML that will allow us to place text around an image? The shortcode for the image frame simply pushes the text underneath it, which isn’t what I want to do.

Hi,

I’ve made two new classes for img-left and img-right. Add this CSS to Theme Options – Advanced – Cutstom CSS:
.img-left {margin:5px 15px 5px 0; float: left;}
.img-left img {float: left;}]
.img-right {margin:5px 0 5px 15px; float: right;}
.img-right img {float: right;}
Instead of using the shortcode can you now add the image in text mode manually. Like this:
<div class="image-frame style3 img-left">
<img alt="Image" src="http://0.envato-static.com/images/themeforest/logo-dark.png?1343103954" />
</div>

Change the image link to your own. You can also change the style class to style-1, style-2, or 3. And make sure it is within the p of the text.

Sorry it’s long winded. We will make this easier for a later update.

Regards, Allan

Great! I’ll give it a try.

Hi, Everything seems to be working fine for me and the theme is just supper! The documentation is rich and it is quick straight forward to do things. I have one question and one suggestion. I have a page called “Blog” that is linked to a menu. This page, i have the code code to present a blog with two columns, 4 posts (the one from demo website). The problem is, all my posts they are like single ones, not like the demo. Anything am I doing wrong? Suggestion: would be possible to get the background images (or groups) from library? that would save a lot of time and reloads :)

thanks

Thanks Theme. Please go to byviniphotography.com and click the first blog entry. It seems to me that the icons are one on top of the other, not sure. Also, thanks for the explanation with the sign up. Very helpful.

Can you try adding this code to the wp-content/themes/storm/functions.php file
function mytheme_fix_shares()
{
    global $MR_Social_Sharing_Toolkit;

    if (isset($MR_Social_Sharing_Toolkit)) {
        remove_filter('the_content', array($MR_Social_Sharing_Toolkit, 'share'), 10);
        add_filter('the_content', array($MR_Social_Sharing_Toolkit, 'share'), 100);
    }
}
add_action('init', 'mytheme_fix_shares');
Regards, TC

It worked. Thanks for your fantastic help. Very professional, helpful and clear documentation. Thumbs up! :)

I you can please help me ASAP – million thanks!

Storm template, sortable portfolio buttons: I cannot translate the “All” button text. I can’t find in the translation menu on the admin panel. Can you tell me how can I translate or change somewhere please? Thanks.

In includes/shortcodes.php find this line and change the ‘All’ string.
$output .= '<a class="basic-button" href="#" data-filter="all"><span>' . __('All', TCR_TEXT_DOMAIN) . '</span></a>';

Hi, the theme is great.

I’d just like to add a small detail, but even though I’ve tried have not known how.

If for example you go here: http://demos.themecatcher.net/storm-wordpress/portfolio/full-screen-2-columns

There are shown various items, for example, Sunrise, Waterbending, From the Banca, etc. Above them are the filters: All, Buildings, Landscapes, etc..

What I would like is that below the title of each item, display the name of their category.

For example, under the title “Sunrise” display “Landscapes”.

In other words: that below the title of each item in the portfolio, is put as a label, the name of the category (or categories) to which it belongs.

Is it possible?Thank you!

In the file storm/includes/shortcodes.php find this line:
$show_description = tcr_get_post_meta(get_the_ID(), 'show_description', $show_description);
Above it, add this code:
$output .= get_the_term_list(get_the_ID(), 'portfolio_category', '<h5>', ',', '</h5>');
Regards, TC

Thank you! It works perfect!

Wonderful theme and tons of useful options! Really love it. Finished working on the site some days ago. Please, throw an eye at www.phoclab.com if you want ;-)

QUESTION: Is it possible to install the “Better WP Security” plugin with this theme without issues? I don’t want to destroy my site just for adding a plugin. Thank you :-)

Excellent site & photographs :)

I haven’t heard of any conflicts with that plugin, so I would say it’s fine. It’s never going to destroy the site, just deactivate the plugin if you notice any issues.

Thanks a lot for this great theme! I have only one problem, how could I change the tansparency of “Left Note Block”? Best regards!

Hi, you can add the following CSS into Theme Options – Advanced – Custom CSS.

.left-note-block, .right-note-block {
background-image: url("http://www.yourdomain.com/wp-content/themes/storm/images/backgrounds/transparent/plain-dark-30.png")
}

You can change the image name in multiples of 10. 10 (plain-dark-10.png) being the most transparent and 90 (plain-dark-90.png) being the least.

Regards, TC

1) Does the ‘Welcome’ box on the front page resize to new content ? I’d want more text on the front page 2) Is there a limit to the size of files that can be uploaded via QuForm or is it just the PHP upload limit ? 3) Can I remove the name of the image that is shown at the bottom of the screen as the image changes ?

1. Yes.

2. You can optionally define a limit in the form settings, otherwise the PHP settings control the upper limits.

3. Yes, these captions are not there by default, you have to add them in the image settings.

Regards, TC

Thanks for the great theme – I’m really liking working with it, but there is one thing I can’t seem to figure out – How do I change the color of the navigation links and hover state? I tried changing it in the CSS, but that didn’t seem to have an impact.

Add the CSS style below to the theme, see Add custom CSS. Replace #123456 with the normal link color and #654321 with the hover color.
ul.primary-menu li a, .primary-menu ul li a, .primary-menu ul li a ul a, .primary-menu ul li span, .primary-menu ul li a ul span {
    color: #123456;
}

ul.primary-menu li a:hover, .primary-menu ul li a:hover, .primary-menu ul li a ul a:hover, .primary-menu ul li span:hover, .primary-menu ul li a ul span:hover {
    color: #654321;
}

Hello, I really like your creation of STORM and have had much of its elements running for several months. Now I’m trying to get a blog started and don’t seem to be able to put the various parts together that I can follow using a printed copy of the support book supplied with software. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Paul (www.consciousnesstransitions.com)

Hi, could you please send me more details of what you are trying to achieve for your blog?

If you go to the Theme Options – Blog, you will see some options to create the blog pages the way you require.

There is also a blog shortcode so you can add a blog posts into pages. It has many options available too.

Regards, TC

Hi ThemeCatcher, In response to your reply about creating a working blog, I started with a page (Impressions-A Blog About Life) with one post on my website (www.consciousnesstransitions.com. I did go to the Theme Options – Blog and set the options as well as use the blog shortcode previously but nothing happened. So I believe I’m seeing the elements but not understanding how to make them work. My goal is to come out with a simpler version of what your posted in the Live Preview of the Storm Blog. Thank you, Paul

The blog is a built-in part of WordPress, when you add “Posts” in Posts -> Add New, they will become part of the blog system. What you can do is go to Settings -> Reading and at “Posts page:” set it to your blog page “Impressions-A Blog About Life”.

Now each time you add a new post they will appear in a list on that page.

Hello, I have a problem in uploading background images, after I updated to WP 3.5. Need help!!!

Please update the theme to the latest version. See Updating the theme.

thank you very much, now its ok..

Andrea

There are 2 reasons I can’t help you with this:

1. You have not purchased the theme.

2. The code with the problem is not part of the theme.

Certo che l’ho acquistato il tema…!!

Not on that account. You can get support from the author of the plugin that is broken here: http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/fullscreen-galleria

Great theme and theme options. Thanks. Almost done:

http://www.fitfightertraining.com

One little bug. On the iPad, the footer bar on the home page is in the middle of the screen. That page is using the No Content template. Works fine on desktop computers.

Any ideas?

THANKS! Sharon

The fixed position footer doesn’t work well on mobiles and tablets, if the page content is larger than the screen height, the footer will go over the content, so it’s forced to be absolute positioned. You can remove this behavior by finding this line in /includes/theme.php
if (apply_atomic('footer_position', $tcr['options']['footer_position']) == 'absolute' || $tcr['browser']['is_tablet_or_mobile']) {
And remove this part from the line
|| $tcr['browser']['is_tablet_or_mobile']
Regards, TC

Worked. Perfect. THANKS!
