In addition to my comment above…I have tried to update my theme by uploading the modified files that were mentioned in the changelog which just resulted in big warnings on my home page. So i restored the original files and then the original theme and I seemed to be back where I started.
I thought I could upload the entire theme again, which I did and it appears to be installed correctly, however, my navigation bar does not work anymore. I can make pages and they will appear in my navigation bar, but they do not link to anything. I can’t go any further beyond my home page as I just keep getting a 404 page.
Please help!

The menu now uses wp3.0 menu system. You can easily create the menus using the Menu option under Appearance once logged in to wp-admin.
Could you send me a mail via my profile with login info. I’d like to check where its going wrong to give you a 404 page.

The 404 problem is resolved at this time. My hosting company fixed something with the .htacess file and I can now get my pages.

Just to note that the upgrade would require only to setup the top navigation again which uses wp 3.0 menu system. You can copy just one class to the style.css file – else you can keep it as is.

Block one 230 to 233

Block three 242 to 245
Block four 248 to 251
Each of these can be replaced with widget function code and then activating it through the functions.php file

Seriously considering buying this theme for its nice and clean design.
But I do have some questions:
- Is the new WP 3 .0 menu system integrated in Echoes?
- The preview does not show any example of a post with comments – do the latter support threaded comments?
I would appreciate being able to create a top menu called something like Blog or Journal with the submenus being populated automatically (or easily) with the post categories..

Hi, first of all, great theme. Just one more question regarding the accordion: Can you tell me the code needed for it to load custom pictures instead of the one specified in the post?
Dynamic scaling is fine throughout the site, but especially with the accordion features, I will regularly run into problems.

Dynamic scaling is not done with the featured images. You’ll need to upload images with the dimensions required for them. Notes are in the help file.
You can have any image you want with the custom field in the posts that will be picked up by the featured section.

Hello, Thank you for your quick response. I have another issue with using the shortcodes with the columns.
When using any of the column shortcodes the first column on the left any row is not aligned with the rest of the other columns. This only appears in IE, Opera, and Chromes. It appears fine in firefox.
Is there anything I can do for this? Thanks again for the great theme!

I do see the problem on the test url you gave in IE browsers. This shouldn’t be as you can check from the Echoes Theme Demo – Typography link.
Can you try populating the contents from the typography XML file provided with the theme download.

The XML code was the one that was on my test link. I re copied and pasted it, and it still had the issues. So, I just upgraded to Wordpress 3.0( i was still running 2.9.x), all alignment issues has been fixed on all browsers. It works perfectly now. Thanks again for the quick response!
Is it there a way to display the ‘Portfolio slide thumbnails’ in a post or a Full-Width page?
I basically just want to upload my images, and then have them display in the ‘Portfolio slide thumbnails’ style gallery instead of having them displayed via carousel and thumbnails.

1. The Portfolio slide thumbnails are designed to be displayed in a Full-width page as in your second request. Sorry but they aren’t designed to work with image attachments as the carousel and thumbnails inside the Posts do. For that you’ll need to modify the code. All of those functions will be found in the portfolio-functions.php in the functions folder.

1. Edit kwicks-custom.js in the js/kwicks folder.
Line 34 states 850 which is the width of the accordion when open in pixels.
2. The 0.3 values in the same JS code is the value form dimmed slides. 0 to 1 , 0.5 being semi transparent. 0 is invisible and 1 opaque.

Sorry about the late reply. I missed the question.
To get images in the featured section all you need to do is create some posts and fill its Image URL field with an image path. Add it to a category and publish.
Now you can choose your featured category from theme options along with the type of featured effect you want to have.
I can give you accurate answers if you can provide your web url.
It’s a simple process. If you’ve already done the above then maybe the image paths aren’t right. You can easily test this by entering the path in a new browser window to check if it displayed the image.
Do send a web url if possible.

Lovin this theme, using it for a client with products.
I can create each product as a post, it will have a default header image and i can add a gallery below, which is brill. I then can create a portfolio page as Product Index, linking to each product. Again this is perfect.
But… I want on my menu:
- Products
- >steel (portfolio page)
- >>steel product 1 (post)
- >>steel product 2 (post)
- >>steel product 2 (post)
- >>>steel product 2b (post)
- >concrete (portfolio page)
- >>concrete product 1 (post)
But I can’t add posts to the menu (WP3) just pages and catergories. Do I need to do each link as a custom?
Or can I create the product posts as pages and pull them into portfolio pages?

That’s very unusual. Could you let me know what PHP version you’re using on your server.
I’d also want to check your website if possible.
To enter more text your can edit home.php
The column texts are in lines 232,238,244,250
4 columns. Each line has the following

Replace that with your own text.

Hey – the only thing I cannot figure out is how to change the space between the large portfolio slide image and the small thumbs/buttons. There is a huge gap in between….

Just to be sure check the style.css file in the root folder of the theme. This will have the version number.
You can also check the version number from Wordpress Admin – Appearance – Theme info.

Issues with creating portfolio pages
I thought that I had the issues fixed but I’m still having portfolio issues. I got some portfolio pages to work fine with medium thumbnail but others I can’t get to show up at all. I think that the issue has to do with how the images are being attached to the pages. For the ones that are working correctly I start be creating the page and then uploading all the images and finishing by inserting all the images as a gallery. I then went in and created the post naming it something that relates to one image, leaving the post area blank and using the following custom fields: category, image, posthead After that I refresh the published page and the medium portfolio thumb nail would appear under the wordpress gallery. Then just remove the wordpress gallery from the page and the medium portfolio thumbs stay.

Is there a better way of doing this or do I just have to keep playing around until I get lucky?
Hi,
In wordpress before you upload to make a attachments in a post/page its important not to leave the title blank. You can fill the title with some text and proceed.
There shouldn’t be issues as this as only standard functions have been used to fetch the attachments – those functions won’t deliver wrong. It could be interfering with a plugin – do check. If possible i would like to check the wp-admin and to see what’s causing this.

I’m having the same problem. I want the Kwick slider to pull pages not posts. I replaced line 14 as well and I’m still getting posts, not pages.
If you find a solution, don’t hesitate to pass it along.
It’s a little frustrating because my client’s site is finished – as soon as this little issue is fixed.

When you edit the portfolio-functions.php file in the functions folder
Just after line 451 is the point where a Title can be inserted. But this is going to be displayed wherever the template is applied. This function picks the attachments title and descriptions only – the page contents won’t be passes to it. Modifying thid function to do it will require several other modifications to codes.
Sorry i couldn’t give a solution to it.
