Unfortunately the only way to remove ads for the background video is to upload the video yourself to YouTube and disable the ads via the video manager on YouTube (https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/94522?hl=en).

We are working on a new video background system, which will allow background videos to be sourced from Vimeo or from video files on your server – which should provide a more reliable experience without any ads. We’re still a while off finishing it, but hopefully this update will be available in the relatively near future.

It doesnt seem like the countdown timer works in Explorer 8. Is there any way to fix this or is it impossible?

As far as we’re aware, there is no fix available for the countdown problems – sorry.

Unfortunately Finely is only supported in IE9 and above, so we can’t guarantee that all features will work in older browsers and we don’t provide support services to fix problems in browsers which are not compatible with Finely.

The only issue we can see is that you have set the background to use four images in custom.js – whereas you are only using a single image. The script is searching for additional images which can’t be found, therefore causing some errors.

In custom.js, remove the lines for any images you aren’t using – so if you have only uploaded background1.jpg, remove the other lines for background2, background3, etc. Like this:

var slideshowBackgroundURLS = [
    "images/background1.jpg",
    "images/background2.jpg",
    "images/background3.jpg",
    "images/background4.jpg",
];

After:

var slideshowBackgroundURLS = [
    "images/background1.jpg",
];

Hopefully this will fix the issue. We haven’t seen the problem you’re experiencing before – usually having missing image files doesn’t cause any major problems like the ones you have pointed out. However this is the only issue we could find with your site so far, but we’ll continue investigating for any other problems and will keep you posted with our progress.

You can have as many buttons/pages as you like (all steps for adding them explained in the documentation).

Unfortunately at the moment there is no “light” skin available for Finely – only the dark version (unless you manually edit the CSS).

Also, if you’re experiencing problems, try changing the YouTube URL you’re using to http:// instead of https:// in custom.js.

Yeah – only the CSS and Fonts folders are required. Once you replace those files, everything else should work fine without any extra changes.

Sounds like a plan.. If you could give me a couple pointers and if I cannot seem to get it.. well, then I guess I will have to pay to get it done properly. I love the template. Must be rather nice to see your work showing up on the internet. In fact.. For some the template is just fine for information at the end of the countdown.. Just remove the countdown and utilize the rest of the template.. Very sleek, works well.. Firefox has some issues with the video though, so keeping it to images seems to work well.

I will be contacting you shortly.. How shall I proceed, a simple email with a link to this conversation? Or shall I just start a new?

Unfortunately Finely is a simple HTML template, not a Wordpress theme – which is why you aren’t able to install it into Wordpress.

Unfortunately I think this is caused by computers having trouble processing the large image files for transitions etc. , so there’s not much we can do – try lowering the file sizes of your images.

We’re investigating, hopefully we can improve this is a little.

I don’t think this is related to file sizes, I encountered these issues with 70k images, on i7 CPUs (with no spikes). It doesn’t happen so often that it would deter me from using Finely, but a fix would be great. Thanks!

A possible reason for the video background not working is if you are testing Finely locally on your computer – the video will only work if you are running the template on a web server.

Hi,

The CSS pre-loader is a CSS3 animation, not a GIF image – so requires more work to edit it, as you can’t just switch the GIF file.

Unfortunately there is currently no mention of this in the documentation – an update is coming soon which adds the option to use either pre-loader through settings in the custom.js file.

It will be a few days before this update is ready however, so if you’d like the instructions to replace the CSS pre-loader with a GIF image file as soon as possible, please get in touch at support@cosmiclabs.co.uk and I’ll send them back to you straight away.

Looks like a good start, but the typography and general layout needs improving – and there’s a few issues on mobiles.

I’m sorry but Finely is an HTML Template not a Wordpress theme – so it can’t be installed into Wordpress. Unfortunately there’s no way around this.
