This is probably stupid to ask but I just started using your theme and can’t find the right settings. How do you really achieve the overlapping look? Like here, the part below the banner picture, where the boy is looking at the wall and the text is overlapping the picture: http://wydethemes.com/overlap/about-us-2/ How’s that done exactly? Is it build in visual composer?

We’ve added the Overlap feature to the Row and Column of the Visual Composer so you can enable it when you edit the row or column.
For example: The Heading text beside the boy who you’ve mentioned. It’s a Custom Heading element inside the row which overlays on the image in the left column. You can edit the row container of the Custom Heading element to change the Overlap settings.
When you change the Overlap option to Right and set the Distance 200px, this row will overlay on the object at the right hand side, 200px from the current position.
Also, it’s easier if you import the demo content in Theme Options -> Home to see how it works.
Okay great, got it so far. but with this setting everything that’s inside the row is positioned further left, right and so on? How come, that the text below the custom heading is more to the right?
No, it’s not. As you can see the Custom Heading and the below text are in different rows. We add 2 rows inside the parent row. Then enable Overlap for only the row on the top so it won’t affect the row of the text.

I have a parent row and inside this row there a two rows beneath each other, both divided into 1/2+1/2, in the upper left there’s the picture, upper right the header, lower left is empty and in lower right theres the paragraph text.

I’m setting up my site and uploaded my logo. I set my custom logo in the section “theme options” both for the dark and light, sticky and non sticky logo. I’m using the light option for the header background, but there is still the overlap logo displayed. When I switch to the dark option the logo I want is displayed. Is this the bug that is discussed right now? If yes, when can I expect an update?
This is a bug of the theme, it will be fixed in the next update that will release in a couple of days. Thanks for reporting this issue.

Unfortunately, all 4 layouts of portfolio page are not suitable for vertical images, they’re all for showing the squared and landscape images.
The portfolio grid element will crop your images to display in squared dimensions in the portfolio list and portfolio single page. The featured image should be larger than 1280×960px so it will be cropped to fit properly on both portfolio list and portfolio single page.
We will add new portfolio single page layout for showing the vertical images in the next update.
I used the 4th layout to post vertical photos. I can put in the middle of the page?

The 4th layout is a Grid (3 columns), if you have only 1 image, it couldn’t be in the center of the page.
You should add your images into the portfolio details instead. Try this:
1. Disable the “Display Featured Image” in Theme Options -> Portfolio -> Portfolio Single Post so your portfolio featured image won’t show up on the single post page.
2. Add a Single Image element into the portfolio details by using Visual Composer.
To enable Visual Composer on portfolio post, go to Visual Composer -> Role Manager. In Post types choose Custom then select “wyde_portfolio”, you can also select “post” to enable it on blog post.

That’s because you set your logo to be bigger than the top menu height.
The max-height should be less than 100% because the logo should be inside the top menu.
The line always displays when you show the title area and you enable the Transparent Header option. It’s on purpose and that’s one of the theme design.
If you’d like to remove it, you’ll need to insert the custom CSS to your custom style as below:

Hi, is it possible to add a portfolio using the overlap layout to the one page layout? I guess I would somehow need to make the portfolio a page to do that?
Sure, there is a Portfolio Grid element with Photoset layout on the One Page demo.
You can change it to the Overlap layout easily as below:
1. Go to Pages, edit the page Recent Works.
2. Edit the Portfolio Grid element, change the View option to Overlap.
Nothing gets displayed. I have a single portfolio, how do I define I want that displayed, the Portfolio Grid element doesn’t seem to have that option?
I’m sorry but I’m not sure which one you’d like to show on your One Page because we’ve the Overlap layout for both portfolio list page and portfolio single post.

If you’d like to show A, sure you can follow the steps in the previous comment to change it to Overlap layout. Otherwise, you couldn’t. Because B is a portfolio single post that displays the portfolio details and you couldn’t add it into One Page and any other pages.
However, the Overlap layout of the portfolio list is suitable for showing multiple items, if you have only one, it’s not recommended. Also, there is a bug of the Portfolio Overlap in the recent updates. When you have only one portfolio, it won’t display. Please update the theme to fix it.

And please also the white background of heading & text place of the ‘overlap slider’ & the color of top/bottom line decoration of the ‘heading settings’
1. Sure, you can set the background color for individual page. When you edit the page, choose your background color in Overlap Options -> Background.
2. The heading of the overlap slider always appears in the white background. I’m not sure what you’d like to change.
For the color or the line of the heading elements, try to change the Text Style in the row/column settings to Light to see if it works.
However, we do not recommend you to use the dark background in the whole website since this is not in the theme design, some parts do not support this.
Also, it’s easier if I can see your live site to inspect the code to provide the custom CSS.

The Theme Options panel is included in the Wyde Core plugin. After you activate this plugin, you will see the Theme Options in the admin menu bar and in the WordPress admin main menu.

1. The slider will appear when the post is a Galley post format. You can edit the post, select Gallery for the Post Format, then add images in Gallery Options at the bottom of the post detail box.
2. Edit the row, change the Content Width to Full Screen so it always fits on any screen sizes.

It’s because you’re using the Boxed layout that’s suitable for only Blog page.
You should change the Page Layout to Wide and enable Transparent Header. You can find these settings in the Overlap Options at the bottom of the page when you edit the page.

1. Sure, the size of that section doesn’t exactly fit the page because you have both header and footer. You should enable Transparent Header in Overlap Options -> Header.
Also, you should use the Full Screen slider as our demo instead, you can import Sliders in Theme Options -> Home. Or you can create a new one in Slider Revolution page, see more on how to create a full screen slider -> https://www.themepunch.com/revslider-doc/slider-setup/#slidelayout
2. Your background image is not in landscape dimension, of course it couldn’t display on the landscape screen without cropping. You should use the landscape image instead.
Also, when you choose Cover for the Background Style, the browser will scale your background image to cover the section area. Some parts of the image may not be in view within the section.
This is a standard function of the browser, so you should choose the background image that would fit on various screen sizes.
Halloo..I thing you don’t understand my problem…first I don’t want to use landscape photo..I have in my project Portrait size or vertical image…i want width fitting to screen and rest of photo can scrolling to down…in this case i need that is fitting to screen…i did this in column with adding single image shortcode when I do that in column o.k ... but i can not do this in Row as background

Sorry but the Row couldn’t fit perfectly to your image size since your image is just a background. If you’d like to display the full part of your image, you shouldn’t set it as the background but should add it into the Single Image element or try to use the Slider Revolution instead.

I couldn’t provide the CSS code because I don’t know how about the image hover function that you just mentioned and I’m not sure where you’d like to add it.

1. You can change the background color for each page, it’s in individual page settings. When you edit the page, you can change the page background in the Overlap Options at the bottom of the page, select the Background tab.
2. You can change the highlight/hover link color in the menu in Theme Options -> General -> Color Scheme.
Is this all I have to do to turn off the gradient effect on the blog masonry.

Since the last update, I don’t see my own logo anymore but the logo of Overlap. In the dashboard it all seems fine, there are my own logo’s visible. Can you tell me what I have to change to make it work again?

I would like to upload my own logo in my Overlap theme, but when I change it everywhere in “navigation” section in “theme options”, it doesn’t change anything and it still display the Overlap logo by default. What can I do to solve this issue ?

Hi, another thing: My portfolio section built with visual composer is broken. But just the Overlap style. here’s the link: http://dev.cartgeneration.ro I’m guessing it’s some script loading issue because I’ve noticed the positioning and sizing of the .w-item class is added by javascript. In my case they all have value of 0.
Also, I have just updated the thene and all plugins but still nothing.
We’ve never seen this issue before. Try to add 2 or more portfolios to see if it works. Or change the Portfolio layout from Overlap to others such as Grid.
It’s just with overlap layout. Any hints on where should I start to debug it?
Seems like it’s a bug of the portfolio overlap layout when you’ve only one item in the Portfolio Grid element. It will be fixed in the next update.
To work around this, please add more items in Portfolios or use other layouts instead.
