Slate has been updated to version 3.1.0, below is the change-log for this update.

30/06/2024 - v3.1.2
- Fixed incorrect related post URL

Related posts are no longer working with new WordPress update. It shows title of currently viewed post and links to the currently viewed post instead of the related post

Ok, so the URL link now correctly forwards to the correct related post. However, the title still shows the same title for the currently viewed post.

<?php the_title(); ?>

I believe this is the problem in the post-related.php but I am not versed enough in PHP language to fix.

Apologies for missing that – we just pushed a new update that should fix this.

No worries! Thank you again!

Hey DrakePL,

I just checked on this and the functionality seems to be working as intended on our side. I recommend disabling any third-party plugins to ensure that any out-dated plugins are not causing a conflict within the post editor.

If the issue persists please create a ticket on our support site and we will be happy to assist further.

Hope you don’t mind me writing this as a comment but my support for the theme has expired, so I couldn’t open a ticket. And it’s more of a feature request than a bug report! :)

I was wondering if it would be possible to support Font Awesome 5 in a future version of Slate, specifically for the Ecko Social (Blog) widget. In particular, I’d love to see the two new options for Strava (fa-strava) and Facebook Messenger (fa-facebook-messenger) – both of which are new icons in FA5.

In addition, it updates some of the other icons, chief among them being the newer Instagram logo – at the moment, the theme still shows the old one.

I understand if that’s not possible but if it is, it would be awesome to see!

Thanks. :)

Hey WilliamTM,

Thanks for your comments and suggestions. I’ve noted these requests for consideration in a future theme update.

Hi! Great theme! Is it possible to change the width of the screen when the left sidebar disappears? Also having the top horizontal menu for narrow screens instead of hamburger menu would be a great option. P.S. Sorry, I hate hamburger menu like many.

Hey Gionist,

Thanks for your comments and interest in Slate.

The layout breakpoints in Slate have been specifically chosen for the best visual experience across various devices and screen sizes, however if you wish to modify these breakpoints then you can do so with some custom CSS.

Slate includes the slide-out drawer for navigation. If you want more options for navigation then a third-party plugin may be used for this.

Hello, one pre-sale question. Is it possible for me to have the main column displaying the posts without the images? For example, instead of the gridview with images, can I have just a listvidw with the posts ? Thank you for the support.

Hey kelsonmartins,

Thanks for your interest in Slate.

Posts can certainly have no featured image assigned – however they will still be presented in the grid layout as shown in the live demo.

http://s4.img7.ir/gm2iB.jpg http://s4.img7.ir/CWeUA.jpg http://s4.img7.ir/KNRBA.jpg and i couldn’t see right sidebar in responsive and full wigth layout

Hey alishweb,

Thanks for your interest in Slate.

Certain elements are moved/disabled depending on the viewport size, such as the sidebar which is relocated into the drawer. From the provided screenshots it appears the width has been reduced so much that its below any typical phone display width of 320 in some cases.

If you are experiencing these issues on a live device please let us know which device via our support site under Bug reports or Pre-Sales.

Hi, I want to know does Slate theme support WPML plugin?

Hey takeshiiiit,

Slate supports WPML translation via the included .po/.pot language files.

Thank you!

Pre-purchase question: Is there a theme option or is it possible to remove the white outline around the menu &/or homepage posts?

Hey PatrickMackie,

Thanks for your interest in Slate.

This can be done via a minor code (CSS) customization which we will be happy to assist with. If you decide to purchase submit a ticket on our support site regarding this.

Can the side menu on the right be set to sliding one just like cedar from the get go? Without any viewport calculation?

Hey dzinedevs,

Thanks for your interest in Slate.

This is possible via the included theme options. You can hide the sidebar, and it will be accessible as a drawer style sidebar much like our Cedar theme.

Hey, quick pre-sale question: Can you make the sidebar off canvas by default? I.e. I don’t want it to always be visible on the side unless the toggle link is clicked.

Also, can you change/update the fixed top black navbar?

Hey darokel,

Thanks for your interest in Slate.

Yep, the visible sidebar can be changed into the slide-out drawer style via the included theme options, this allows the main content to fill the full width of the page container.

The top navigation bar can also be customized via the included theme options, and we are happy to assist with minor CSS (style) changes to this theme section. If you decide to purchase submit a ticket on our support site regarding the above.

Can you also add a slideshare icon for the widget Ecko Social Blog?

Hey LeCoupa,

Thanks for your suggestion. We will get this added in the next theme update.

If you have any further queries please create a new ticket on our support site and we will be happy to assist.

You did not do it…

Hey LeCoupa,

Apologies for this – It’s difficult to track requests/issues mentioned in item comments which is why we ask customers to post on our support site where we have the functionality to track such requests.

Please create a new ticket on our support site regarding the above.

The theme has a problem on Retina screens. We can’t see the sidebar with the default 100% zoom. We have to set the zoom to 90% to see it appearing. This issue seems to be specific to Retina screens as it works perfectly on other computers.

https://www.hackisition.com/

Hey LeCoupa,

I just tested this on a high resolution (retina) display and can’t replicate this issue.

What you are most likely encountering is feature of the responsive layout. While most retina displays have a high native resolution, the actual display resolution is often scaled by the operating system. For example the Macbook Pro 13” (Retina) has a native resolution of 2560×1600, however the default display resolution (scaled) is 1440×900.

When the viewport becomes restricted in slate the layout is adapted to best fit the available space. When the viewport width is below 1280px the sidebar is hidden, and displayed as a slide-out drawer (which can be revealed by selecting the menu icon within the header). When you zoom the page to 90% you are increasing the viewport size, over this responsive threshold and the standard sidebar returns.

If you have any further queries please create a new ticket on our support site and we will be happy to assist.
