great theme – but concerned that it hasn’t been updated in a over a year. is it still supported?

This is pretty easy, you can remove sidebar or change position with Gutenberg Editor. I created a simple video for how to do it: Zeplin Blog Post Without Sidebar
And it’s not only for the sidebar. You can set everything according to your needs with Gutenberg Editor easily.
