Downloaded everything that is required but can't seem to edit the pages because it hangs up my entire server every single time!

It would have been better if you contacted us regarding the issue. This way we can help.
We could not find any messages from you in item comments, email or at the support forum.
An error doesn't mean it's from the theme. There can be other factors.
We assume what you face is due to your webhosts PHP being older than what WordPress requires. WordPress requires PHP 7.
Surprisingly there's still webhosts that have PHP 5 installed. That's okay for non WordPress sites but won't work for WordPress.
