Hey There!

I’m Dan Volkens, an interactive designer from Cincinnati, Ohio. My focus is clean and usable web and interface design. I have over thirteen years experience in the industry designing websites and web application interfaces.

I am a self-taught web designer. In 1997 I began dabbling in web design, coming off of a stint at UC’s DAAP for Industrial Design. I was brought onboard at Global Cloud (www.globalcloud.net) in August of 2000, where I was the senior interactive designer. In September 2010, I stepped out on my own to freelance/contract full-time. It’s time to grow into bigger and better things!

Aside from fundamental design principles, I have always placed a strong focus on simplicity, hand coding HTML/CSS, web standards/cross-browser compatibility, and usability.
