Having driven truck for over 15 years I wanted something different. Being an avid gamer I decided to go to college for digital game design. It was there that I was introduced to the world of photography and that is where my life changed. I was mainly in the class to learn to take pictures for textures, yet that all changed. My instructor gave me inspiration and a lot of useful tips and was always there to help with answers to my questions. I eventually evolved into nature photography and really enjoy any type of landscape or wildlife photography. I had no idea how this new found skill would help me until a little over a year later. I am glad I learned a new profession in life and I will cherish what the instructor in college taught me.
Fast forward about one year later and in March of 2013 I had a heart attack. I was told by the cardiologist I could opt to not have anything done about it however there were no guarantees on how long I would live. Basically I was told “”You can die walking out the hospital door or you could die driving. Four days later I had open heart surgery that was caused by a blockage of two arteries. One was 90% blocked and the other 100% blocked. This came from years of smoking, bad eating habits, and family history. Three months after surgery and not getting help from any type of governmental assistance I decided I needed to have income. The only thing I knew other then driving truck and I.T. work was photography.
I loaded up my camera and headed to hocking hills region in southern Ohio and began shooting. I made 60 bucks by helping with a friends computer and was able to buy some cheap equipment that would help my photography skills along. Even though the open heart surgery has a long recovery time I am glad that on March 9th I had the heart attack, had I not I would not have rediscovered my passion for photography.
