Multimedia Developer and Designer
Hi, I’m Austin Fish. I’m a graduate of the Art Institute of Michigan. I’m a freelance graphic designer and developer. I focus on photo manipulation / alteration, logo, icon, website, and app design (Android and IOS) on the graphic design side. And I’m well versed in web development with the knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, Javascript, PHP, and, though it’s technically not it’s own category, I have a good understanding of the Wordpress structure and coding conventions.
I did go to school for design, but in the grand scheme, between design and development, I’m self-taught. I’ve been learning web development since 2008 (I was in 8th grade, and I was just a curious child, so I began teaching myself, no classes). I couldn’t really say when I began studying design, but I took many art classes in high school (so I ended up far far far over-prepared once I entered college), and despite my vast schooling I’ve taught myself almost everything I know through pure research (And by that I mean both using Google and analytically comparing my designs to better ones in an attempt to systematically find unspoken rules and tricks in design).
I love what I do, but I am greatly partial to web design. I love creating, and I love the idea of interaction, and I love thinking through all of the ways that something could possibly go wrong, and then fixing them all before they’re even a problem (in code, of course). It’s all one big puzzle with a race to see who can finish it first. I just love it!
